Why do they support the QuadroFX cards but not the GeForce cards?
As I understand it they both use the same GPU so why cant I use my Geforce for GPU-accelated rendering?

I assume you're talking about gelato. My guess is probably a ploy to sell more high-end cards. There's no practical reason you couldn't use a geforce card.

It'd be interesting to know whether geforces or a soft quadro work with it.

If you are talking about Gelato check out their forums - this has been mentioned before. From what I gather you can run it on any card that supports the floating point instructions they are using (FX or higher I think), however Quadros are the only ones officially supported.

So you probably can run it on your Geforce - they just don't recommend it.

Try out the evaluation and see if it runs is the best way of findin out if it works.
