Hey Folks,

I'm currently working on a 3d animated movie. Currently I am looking for

Modellers
Riggers
Texture artists

Mainly though models. I'm in need of 4 custom models. The project is a short movie which will be presented over the web in 5 minute increments at around 30 Minutes for Episode 1.

At the end of the showing we will have them printed on DVD with instructional videos on how we made the movie from start to finish.

Here are some pictures of the 4 main characters I need help on
http://themightyflog.deviantart.com/ is my gallery. Yeah I tried to model a few myself but I am not modelling them in a style I want.

The big guy is a start, his name is Brick. He is to look like the colored mean looking guy, but with the head variations of the one on the left. More Sasquatch/Panda bear looking. What do you think?

Here is the main character Flog

Here is a few pictures of Alienboy

Alienboy I just wanted in a lower poly similiar to the character in the right picture but with the 3d head I have. I like the rounded ears better.

I'm also looking for someone who can rig.

The project is more of a partnership and investment. Some folks invest money to get a return. This is an investment in time. When the movie hits the small DVD market there will be a profit, it will be Indie film profit but a profit we can all share. So I hope I can find some interested partners to help in my endeavor.

If you would like to be on this project that would be awesome. Thank you for you time and interest. Please post here or email me at sarms@austin.rr.com

Well dude I just wanted to wish you luck on the production of the project.

I will keep an eye on it.

So what program will you use. Do you have storyboards?

Do you have more detailed concepts ?

That is great to get the support of other folks who share my dream. I have enjoyed watching BOY1DAs project coming along. I can't wait to see it finished, lol, which I'm sure he can't either.

Do you have more detailed concepts ?

I do have a more planned out story synopses and storyboard is in my head, but I have been putting it on paper. The story is mapped out completely and the storyboard is in it's final fleshing out. You know I work a lot like George Lucas, I know it's bad but it is fun. That is why one of my partner's in this movie making is a linear thinker. He keeps me in line.

Well I will use various programs. I'm trying to use easy, simple tools at a low cost, because the dvd is not really the movie itself but an intense step by step tutorial on how to make a movie. It will be a tutorial, not just a general behind the scenes making of feature. It will be full tutorials on modelling, lighting, rigging, plus the whole process. I'm doing a video blog. I want it to appeal to newbies and pros alike.

That is who my market is mainly for. Newbs who would like to make a movie from scratch to finish.

For modelling right now we are using Silo, Zbrush, and Sketchup. Each will have a tutorial. Screen capture. This will be the scratch modelling portion.

I'm also going to be teaching frankensteining, taking royalty free models and modifying them so as not to have to start from scratch (check out my alienboy model) I did the head, but the body was from a stock body model. I don't want to leave anybody out and want to have those without the greatest talent in modelling a chance to make their movie and how to do it.
Other sections include finding help, looking for a style, marketting, merchandising, etc. Just the whole shabang.

I will release the episode in 5 min increments on the web, once it has picked up speed, I will compile it on DVD and put in all the how to content and sell it direct. I have a manufactor lined up for this.

Animation will be done by Messiah, Cinema 4d . So a lot of work, but a lot of work has taken place.

Years of focus and learning.

Hey Kid Mesh,

Thanks for keeping up over the years, I hope in the end I do not disappoint. I'm glad you mentioned that, so maybe others will see my commitment level. Thanks for the comments :)

I wish the same on your project, which by the way has a great style in the characters. I really liked those. Style is something hard to find.

I wanted to share some models from the movie. The movie takes place in a city by the ocean on the border of Mexico and US.

The story is going to deal with rich and poor and even in a beautiful rich city, there are the poor and destitute, plus things that are going on in the background.

Kinda like society today, where you have Hollywood full of beauty and the rich, but then an underground of modern day slavery taken place and children being sold as slaves. The movie will only touch on these and not full frontal on the issue, but I wanted to have a realistic background story. http://ic1.deviantart.com/fs9/i/2006/067/1/c/I_think_I_have_enough_building_by_themightyflog.jpg
The buildings rae not textured, and even the ones that are, those are not the textures. I want the cartoon to have a realistic, claymation look. Not totally realistic but not totally cell shaded. Hope you like. I am looking for a texture person as well.

Here is another picture of an opening beach scene. I need to add a few elements in the background (the city) and some shacks.

Just to tell you a little more about the movie. It will be an old school super hero movie, kind of like the old comics I have read and enjoyed with a mix of manga elements as well.

I also want it to be BIG. So not just one character but a crossover of two differant characters.

Hey we don't get the Batman/Superman movie, or a Wolverine VS Hulk movie, so I'd thought I'd do a crossover movie as my first movie. After that hopefully do a few 3d online comics to follow their story.

Hi Flog

I've been working with C4D for about two years now and am also using ZBrush. It would be nice to get involved in a project with a focus. I can do you the models you want. Also, have painter and Body Paint so can do texture work or backgrnds. You can see what I've finished so far on my website: www.meadowviewgallery.co.uk

Cheers

James

great work. I'm thinking of moving my pipelin to C4D as it seems to be the quickest renderer, and has cool modules for hair and Flog has a lot of hair

You said you found two distributors for your film? For what venue? if you dont mind me asking. And what did you show them? a mini press kit?

Cheers and good luck with the movie.

there were 2 indie distributors. They do not have exclusive rights. One works in connection with Amazon, they are a dvd on demand, so no overhead, but they charge a lot off the top. $4.95 for all services. I'll have to sell it for more than I wanted to with them to get the same profit.

Another one focuses on Indie films. They will promote almost any film but if they like it, it gets in their full program. I sat down, shared some pictures, story and ideas ( I need to look through my info at home to give the names, I'm not at home at this time) I even have a tshirt, lol.

There were 2 other distributors who do indie films of all types, but the traffic they produce didn't appeal to me, one was to artsy fartsy creepy and the other one seemed rather sleezy.

I also found DVD manufactors that I'm going to use from Canada, but they have a print shop in San Antonio, TX only an hour drive from Austin. 80 cents a copy. They do short runs.
I'm also hoping to go through Diamond once the product is done and get it into comic shops, and I found a new fledgeling software company, whose software encodes for PODcasting.

Venue?

1 was straight to DVD

the other DVD but they also work on small theatres and film festivals. I still have to work something out and get a finished product with them.

The venues I want to go to are limited to DVD and PODcasting. Maybe if someone writes be a big ugly check I'll make a theatre movie. Who knows where it will go.

I spend alot of my time promoting the movie and finding the avenues I want. A lot of research before I jump in to make a living. I think many artists forget the business side. They make nice films or some artsy fartsy peice and it goes nowhere but a film festival, never to be heard from. Or they make an animation with no real market to go to.

Animation I think is not taken as seriously as of yet for real issues or a real movie, so I still want to market to kids and fellow geeks. LOL.

Hopefully my research and contacting folks will pay off once the movie is out. I'm feeling more and more confident. :) Even my wife was getting excited at the film festival when I was interviewing and speaking with successful and not so succesful film makers.(matter of opinion)

Things are moving ahead and I'm so happy :)

I'll get you the company names later on this evening when I'm at home with my paperwork.

Great news everybody

Dan the man is on the team for the 2d stylist

Dan is a great artist and has a good following at deviantart.com
I looked long and hard for the right artist and I believe I found him.

http://www.deviantart.com/view/30857594/

I have a few 3d guys who are willing to help but it is kind of up in the air.
This is a paid job and was hoping to be able to hire someone for a few models. It is not a lot of pay but would be good for students, hobbyists, etc.

I could definately use your help for 3d modelling the characters. Thank you

Nice find on the 2D artist man....the good ones are hard to come by believe me. I think the route your taking is the right one just keep plugging away and things should happen for you. For the information you have about the distributors just email me bro. kidmesh_AT_madmotion.net :deal:

thanks a million for the words of encouragement. That really means alot. I hope with each step comes better help. That is what I think I'm going to do.

I have some modellers in the works. Trying to talk to some and trying to see if others are a fit.

I think I'll just wait till the 2d comes out and hopefully that attracts the next bunch and I'll get some good modellers.

There are a few who offered but I think I would like someone dedicated for at least a month and someone who can turn out simple models faster.

I might have to trade in my stock money for some good modellers.

Then after the modellers, maybe someone will be attracted to rig.

Then I get to have the fun animating. LOL

I think I may also find a writer in the comic world with good skills. I think I could use an editor and someone good at dialogue.

Thanks for the encouragement and expect more soon.

Oh here is a fun little render by me, based on some geometry from NIL at the silo3d forum.

I did the morphing of the character as he appears now. Hope you like
