Hi there, my graphics card seems to be on its way out (an old ati 9800 pro) i'm getting think pink and green lines up and down the monitors (which have been tested and are fine). I'm a student and don't have a huge amount to spend at the min, can anyone reccoment a replacement for under £120? If so that would be a huge help as there's far too many in that price ange to choose from.

Cheers

Matt

Looks like the card is overheating - check the temperatures if you can. Also cleaning the fan out of dust may help.

Cheers mate, that was a quick reply. I'll give that a go. Do you know if its ok to remove the heatsink and re-apply the silicone paste?

Thanks again Matt

I have a 9800XT since it came out and very pleased with it.

Try to cool it down and I wouldsuggest to install the omega drivers, they changed my life.

I can ply to HL2 full dettails or even very high far cry...with the ati ones it would crash after few minutes....

Hope it helps.

Hal.

Nvidia's 6600GT is a very solid card, and can be had for more than reasonable prices. Personally, I think Nvidia's drivers behave better than ATi's in graphics applications.

Yeah it certainly seems to be the best for under 100 quid, cheers for the reccomendation. I'll buy one of them i reckon then.
