View Full Version : Distant Sea/Ocean shot

hello guys,

i have been given a brief to create a section of coastal road in italy for a next-gen game. the problem i have encountered is how do get that nice distant shot of the sea? i want to have it glistening slightly when it interacts with the sun.

i thought of maybe having an animated normal map on a plane but i would have no idea on how to achieve this. would this be the correct route to go down if so how could i obtain this effect?

Do we talk about In-game or Pre-rendered?

well ideally i would need some tileable texture to be able to acheive a comparible likeness to the .mov in the link below:

make it a normal as oppose to a bump and tile it on a plane. could i get this effect by pre-rendering it in Maya/Max and outputting it as small series of TGAs which our enginge supports?
