the polycounts about 5k atm. i think the arms need a bit more detail,
what do you guys think?

its a good start but for 5k, i think you need redistribute alot of the polys, for starters the hands are way too detailed. even for a highish poly model, there are a few too many polys there(each finger only really needs to be 6 sided on a character like this.
also the knees and lower legs are very smooth, the same look could be acheived with half the polys.
then spend the polys on the face, and extra details, at the mo it looks quite plain compared to silmilar models.
I'd agree with the above comments. You should generally have the main bulk of the poly's in the head and reduce the detail as you go further down the body. This is because most games will focus on the character from the waist up. I honestly can't think of a game where the focus is on the feet. ;)

yeah, i was hoping to do some optimization once the whole thing was near complete,
so do you think i should redo the hands or will target weld get me through
