View Full Version : Normal map->poor resolutoin

Hi. When I render to texture a normal map I get it in a very poor resolutuin, althrough I set the resolutuin to 1024:

What could be a problem?

In this case it's probably not a matter of resolution, but a matter of rays which have been send out by the application.

hey. when working with normal maps do you texture your low poly or hi res character?

I don't know the whole chain of things that are occuring here, but are you generating a high-res normal map, then scaling THAT down to make the MIP maps?

Bad idea.

Make MIPs from the grayscale height map, then create normal maps based on thise scaled images. Otherwise the normals turn to noisy mush.
