In Max 5, how do you rotate sometong locally??? Like setting the rotate tool to local in Maya???

And is it possible to use "RGB Multiply" in the "Reflect" channel ad set map one to "Fall - Off" and the other to "Raytrace"???

When I do that it seems as though the raytrace channel gets overwritten.

you can rotate an object locally by changing the reference coordinate system. it should be located on your main toolbar, next to the scale button i think. by default its set to view, just click the drop-down list and change it to local.
as for the material problem, it's possible. i tried it out and it worked ok for me..
