I started with this:

Drawing : http://www.kamermans.net/Designs/vrouw4/cg1.jpg

I made this drawing the last couple of dayís but I donít have any good ideas for the background. I tried a couple of thing but it didnít work out. The background should be very white to keep it clean I guess. So if any boby has an idea for the background, TELL ME =).

I am in a learning progress so all comments and critics are more than welcome!
Here are my reference picture's (again Jessica Alba =))

 oooooooo realistic water refraction effect ever! (share your secret plz....)

for bg, just bluish high contrast and depth to focus on jessi, will be enough for me.
great detail... nice work

Quick critique
Her nose and lips look too wide. Her eyes are the wrong color.
It's looking amaizing though. And I too am very curious about how you did that water. That's incredible

I disagree with sturmkim regarding those background fish, I rather like them. It's a wierd, wyw-catching concept... I could see this as a good magazine ad concept... though I have no idea what the product would be.

Maybe brick fish, as those goldfish must be made of actual solid gold in order to splash down like that! The down-spashes are dramatically out of proportion to what we all know is the actual mass of such a fish. If those fish hit the water fast wnough to make those splashes, they'd have to have been shot out of a cannon, and they'd be dead on impact!

It is a surreal fantasy, though, so possible I can accept it... I have to say I'm conflicted there... I like the fish stuff, but the voice of reason nags. I think maybe in this case I should ignore the voice.

You do indeed need to work on the hair and hand. The face is too close to your reference photo to allow you to get away with non-photorealistic hair and hands. I think there is a good hair tutorial on this very board... maybe someone can point you to it?

If you want it, here's that hair tutorial. Great stuff.

I made 2 versions. I don't know witch one I like more.

here is nr 1.

http://www.kamermans.net/Designs/vrouw4/cg4.jpg

I like this one because it is a wide picture (I don't like square pictures). But the main characters are smaller. And I donít know how to finish the background. (some one any idea?)

here is nr 2.

Its one is more square then the firs one but, here she looks more at the fish and the main subject is bigger in the picture. The water is higher and it is less work to finish it.

To me, the concept fits better with the top one, though the bottom has better visual appeal.
I love the white-based background of your very first post best, though.

The babies made me laugh ^_^ Awesome-cool!

i agree with nymphaella, i like the top one the best because of the visual simplicity. also because with the white colour, it's sort of ambiguous whether she's in the water, or below it. dang, but this looks amazing

Perhaps it's because I personally don't tend to do backgrounds often, or because I'm completely a fool, but I really prefer the first one with no background. The one with the fish falling into the water isn't bad either, but I really don't like the one with the babies, it just distracts me a lot. I love the goldfish falling into the cup. Good work

Wow, this is looking really good.

A couple of things thou:

Underwater, hair kind of clumps together (like all the strands are one mass) and becomes darker and with more contrast.

(This might be just me, but..) If the bottom is too far down, that makes it look a lot more dangerous, and I think that clashes with the sweetness of the main elements here. I think you should give an illusion of there not being more than say 5 metres to the bottom, that will make it look a lot more like a comfortable place to be. Also, maybe do some research to find out what climate these fish normally live in.

Also, you can probably put in some more light in her eyes and make her skin have sharper highlights. -In short, study wet people.

Here a update. No baby's :), and I made a other background. I like this one more it combines air and water. hope you like it to ;)

@cypherx: I tried to make a background that is very clean like the first one, I hope I succeed doing this.

@InKraBid : I will have a look at the hair now and here face (I think you right to put more highlight in here face)

I think it looks great!

The only thing I can really say is that the lips look a bit strange. The upper lip looks disconnected from the skin right above it. Perhaps the shadowing under the nose is too strong? I'm not sure.

Keep up the good work!

@ninetales I gonna take a look at the lip,..

And I thinks the picture is to flat,. there are no real great contrasts in peace,. I gonna try to make the background a bit darker again,..

Amazing, just amazing. I prefer the older ones though, as its more evident she's 'inside' the ocean, and it makes for a far more interesting composition IMO.
