View Full Version : Problem with constraints "popping" during setup

Heya guys, making some great headway with XSI, and came across a small hangup... now I don't think this will drastically impact the skinning process but it irks me because I'm a neat freak or perfectionist if you will ;)

Problem I'm having is with one particular joint re-adjusting everytime I add a constraint or an up vector. See below...

BTW the foot control cube was adjusted by myself, the problem is where I circled at the 2nd joint

I must be doing something wrong no?

any thx is more than appreciated!

It looks like its doing what its supposed to, align the resolution plane with the null-cube, just position the null to align the leg how you want it.

To my knowledge there is no constrain compensation on chain up vectors in XSI.

For the foot I can't see the hierarchy you may have set up,
-perhaps constrain the foot root not the ankle effector
-or select the leg chain, ctrl r, uncheck effector rotation>effected by last bone

I would like to add that you should envelope your character before you do any constraining to control objects.

1.) setup the chains, save an action clip for your default envelope pose.
2.) envelope (and save the envelope if you need to reattch it)
3.) set control objects
