Climax is one of the world’s leading independent developers of award winning video games. We are seeking an experienced Artist with extensive management skills and proven understanding and experience of outsourcing and its vital role in today’s development studios.
Main Functions of the Job:
To report directly to the Racing Studios Art Director as Outsource Art Manger for all of the studio’s exciting, existing and future ‘Next Gen’ projects. To be responsible for all due diligence carried out and to build strong partnerships with some of the world’s most competitive and experienced talent pools.
To join and assist all projects across the studio, developing and critiquing large proportions of in-game assets produced by external providers. To work with experienced and dedicated lead Artists in the production of assets and direct management of remote teams.
To assist remote teams in best practice production techniques for ‘Next Gen’ title development and provide on site training. Attention to detail and core communicative skills will be utilised when negotiating with external clients.
To be a new key role utilised across the entire Racing studio on multiple projects and platforms, producing and developing exceptional games with high quality art work, technology and innovative game play as standard.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
To be responsible for production, integration and quality artwork produced by remote teams.
Accurately reviewing, critiquing and implementing multiple assets for each title you’ll be involved with.
To be responsible for contract negotiations, pricing, payment and milestone plans with providers and associated file management.
Establishing and implementing internal Outsource Management best practices.
To be responsible for running Pilot Tests and creating documentation in conjunction with the art director, game directors and specialist leads.
To be responsible for creating better awareness and understanding of the outsource market and communicate all developments to the Racing Studio directors.
Demonstrate key communication skills when involved with research, documentation, negotiations, and feed back with remote producers, teams and providers.
Critically evaluate your own and peers’ work constructively.
Demonstrate high production values.
Travel overseas and work closely with providers.
Work within established art parameters and help define those for the future.
Consistently strive to maintain or exceed the highest quality standards of internal and external studios.
Maintaining open channels of communication and info sharing between other studios within the Climax group.
To undertake any other such duties and responsibilities that may fall within the role of the post.
To undertake training courses to meet the requirements of the post.
To be directly responsible for the performance, training and management of project specific Outsource Leads.
Skills/Technical Ability:
Essential:
Excellent communicative skills both written and oral, with a focus on management and negotiation.
An experienced eye for quality, technical excellence and proficiency.
In-depth technical proficiency in one or more 3rd party 3D graphics packages. Preferably Maya or Max. Demonstrate a good working knowledge of all current platforms, technical art restrictions and limitations.
Proven 2D Photoshop skills.
Well-rounded understanding of 3D graphics techniques and technology for both current and Next Gen platforms.
Excellent project management skills.
Proven experience in Outsource Management and knowledge of the current market and its vital role in today’s ever expanding game development industry.
