Hi there. It has been very long time since I've posted anything :)

Here is my latest work, she is freely based on a concept form castlevania game:
http://castlevania.classicgaming.gamespy.com/Images/Scans/LoI/succubus.jpg

It is also my first texture completely hand painted. I am not a texture artist, and I don't make textures almost at all, my primary job is modeling.

she is 6352 triangles and 1024x1024 texture with alpha.

not bad, you could optimize the mesh a lot more from the amount of detail we get from the final image. also just give it a try and reduce the texture to a 512 or a 256, it will probably look the same since its mostly just solid colors with some value variation. just give it a try maybe im wrong. i think overall its a nice and clean model. give the tezxture a few more hours youll be amazed how much difference a few hours will make.

Hey look very good.
But you should add some more colors to the texture.

Thats all I have to crit.

Nice work.

heheh, I want her for my girlfriend, succubes or not, lol.

I think it looks really cool, maybe a bit of optimising in the face but then again, maybe not. It looks pretty optimised to me as it is.

cool model. whats the story behind this creature? female version of incubus?

when you light it nice and think of a clever environment youl have something really powerful. i say push her pose.... a bit straight backed and bored... texturing seems complete enough.

cool

Quote from Wikipedia

n medieval (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_Ages) legend (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legend), a succubus (plural succubi; from Latin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin) succuba; "mistress") is a female demon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demon) which seduces men (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man) (especially monks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monk)) in dreams (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dream) to have sexual intercourse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_intercourse). They draw energy from the men to sustain themselves, often until the point of exhaustion or death (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death). From mythology (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mythology) and fantasy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fantasy), Lilith (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilith) and the Lilin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilin) (Jewish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judaism)), Lilitu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilith) (Sumerian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumer)) and Rusalka (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavic_fairies#Rusalka) (Slavic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavic_peoples)) were succubi. According to the Malleus Maleficarum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malleus_Maleficarum), or "Witches' Hammer", succubi would collect semen from the men they slept with, which incubi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incubus_%28demon%29) would then use to impregnate women. Children so begotten were supposed to be more susceptible to the influence of demons.

Honoré de Balzac (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor%C3%A9_de_Balzac) wrote a short story The Succubus (http://www.readbookonline.net/readOnLine/826/) concerning a 1271 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1271) trial of a she-devil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil) succubus in the guise of a woman, who amongst other things could use her hair to entangle victims.

From the 16th century (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/16th_century), the carving of a succubus on the outside of an inn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inn) indicated that the establishment also operated as a brothel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brothel).

Thanks for comments :)

yeluis - I know I could optimise her, but this was just done for fun, without any limitations, I thought 6,5 tris are quite ok for practise model. I could also use 512 without visible differencies, but I am not a texture artist, I'm just learning.

BananaSalat - Yeah, I know. I should take some painting lessons :/ I hope next one will be better. I'm still tormenting myself with b1ll's textures :)

FreakyDude - thx! Unfortunately I don't have her phone number :)

davezak - I just don't like to model environments. But, I'm glad You like her :)

se7enthcin - wohoo! Only thing I could add (AFAIK) is that incubus and succubus are the very same demon in different body form.

This looks really good considering it's the first time you textured a model. It's just my opinion but I would make her a bit paler so it matches the concept a bit more, or maybe thats the look you were going for.

It's not quite my first texture, previously I've used photos, this one is hand painted. I was thinking about pale, almost white skin, but it was hard for me to make skin shading.

This is an interesting take on an even more interesting character. First I ever heard of such a thing as succubus, whether it is an old legend or some form of dream creativity, she looks dangerous no doubt. Of coarse, I dont get that impression from the model, but thats a matter of texture, the geometry I consider very well formed. My question is, since you've proven this to be a "fun, Practice model" with "no limitations", why not spare some 5 mins and round those shoulders?

She couldn't seduce me with such blocky shoulders ...I can tell you that right now! HAH

Yeah, I've noticed that shoulders now. It is issue with weighting, I've fixed it already, I'll post new pic at the evening.

I know she's still a creature, but the feet look really weird... You might want to tweak those. Feet up it looks awesome, great job, digging the alphamaps on the wings...
