First I want to wish you all good luck and a lot of fun!

My entry will be based on one of my older Photoshop works called the Egg Doll.
I will use that surreal creature as my main character that will be on the search for his mother (or nest). He will have a boy a girl and a bird as companions on his journey.
I will try to reach a 3d cartoon look like in my previeous work (and not so dark as the EggDoll image). I am sure i will have a lot of fun again and i will learn a lot from you all.

I start to model the boy who will be one of the egg companions. I used a puppet photo as reference for the head but I didn't made a 1:1 copy of it, it is just easier for me to model if i have a reference.
I am happy with the result so far.

The boy is now textured, the next step will be rigging and to create the pose i need for the boy.

Finaly had some time to rig the boy and to set some poses.

That's an intresting style you've got going there mate, it kind of reminds me in sime ways of the Lenor Dolls we have here on adverts in the UK. You might not know what I mean. It's nice though, I like it. Good work! Good luck for the rest of the challenge.

That is an interesting style, it is not overwhelmingly stylized, but enough to notice. The plaid shirt feels a bit busy -- but that is likely from the plain background. The handle of the hammer looks a bit smooth, but the head of it is exceptionally good. Coming along well :)

Thanks Crin and Kary. Kary, I will put some more work on the shirt and i hope to make it look better. I think I will use the pose from right for the final composition and not the one with the smooth hammer handle:).

I am ready with the EggGirl textures, I am still not sure about the egg kracks. Maybe I will take them out, but now I just want to go further and start to work on the next charachter that will be a bird.

I was not happy with the egg texture so i decide to do cut out the cracks in the shell.I think it looks better now.

Ohh, the wrong image in the previous update.
This is the new egg with the cracks cut out and not textured.

Very interesting and i'm looking forward to seeing you extract an element of your 2D work into 3D!

I'm already slightly scared by the concept.
After reading that, I went and checked out apocryphs 2D work and now I'm REALLY scared yikes!

Creepy doll/bird/child :)

Love the bizzare concept!

Yep looking at Theo's 2d does make for some exciting possibilities with where he goes with this.

I like the seperation you're getting from the concept and where you've gone with the character -- it doesn't feel too derivative to me. The character is cute at this point, while enough of the 'weird' that you would hope for from the 2d piece.

It might be a little hard to "read" the in egg character from a distance -- it will be interesting to see what camera angle you arrive at.

I like it, nothing problematic to comment on :)

Thank you guys!

Womgoose, you don't have to scared, like Kary mentioned the charachter is not too derivate from the origin but the final composition will have a different look, not so dark like the 2d Image.
Kary I plan to go with the camera very close to the character group and to make a landscpe that will guide the eye from the group, far away on a rock formation, to have really a lot of deep, that will help to see the characters small and somehow scared by the long way they have to go if they want to reach the rocks, even if they will take a big part of the composition.
I hope to manage it.

I really love these characters and the overall colors. However the poses could be tweaked. They are a tad stiff especially the girls. I'm also not sure what the main character is looking at and the girl. They both are looking at this off frame object. The bird isn't quite in their line of sight. Although you may be able to correct this with selective depth of field. Blur the characters a bit so the bird pops out the most. The objects at the right of the frame recieving the heaviest blur.

This is a great pic Teodoru!

Hadnt seen an update from you in ages but it appears youve been busily plugging away! I agree with Womball's coments -and cant wait to see what you do with this in post!

Thanks Wombal and Selina! I will try to work a bit more on the girl poses and to see what i could do about the bird, to bring it in the right line of sight. I will also try to change a bit the light to see what results i get. There are still 8 day until the deadline and i think i can spend the time with this tweaks.

Nice picture. I love your style and the characters. Maybe you could put some wooden houses in the back, just to fill up the composition.
