Completed the shoulder and collarbone armour, end look will probably be a leather/foam material so it will look as she still has total mobility in this high movement area to wield her sword efficiently.

Nice modeling. However, my only crit is that her head seems too flat on the sides of her head but overall nice job. :wavey:

Thank you for the comments. Always had problems with the skull cap, will keep that in mind when I go into final touch up stages.

Need to get her her gun, a Bio-Touch SAP-TAK Weapon. Basically a pheramone-activated hand gun grasped in a pointed finger fashion where the ergonomic design naturally allows the gun muzzle to align with the pointed finger. Triggering is through the thumb.

The Steady Arm Rest has auto-extend and lock straps that wraps round the upper wrist area. Attaches to the gunbelt via Bio-Magnetic Lock & Release Technology.

Thanks. I'm one of those odd ones who needs to create the actors before writing the play when it comes to my personal work.

So at this stage the characters and supporting elements are being fleshed out. In general, it will be sort of a group portrait of Zia and her mercenaries before they go meet their destinies; amidst a background vista of an overwhelming invading force.

It might even be comedic...

Well, it is hard to give you any sort of crit ´cause, there is no clear concept so I don´t know what should be my focus. From modeling, looks like you know what you are working on, so, you´ve got your style which is very organic and beveled. You should add more life to her face ( play with eyes - half close them for example ). Give us some concept sketch. Keep going and good luck to you!

Oh yes, your Interceptor needs to be balanced - 2 mecha legs are not enough in that position.

Oweron, thanks for your comments :-) , i am working on those issues, morph targeting her face soon, mecha legs have been reproportioned to be more ostrich-like to solve centre of gravity issue.

Concept is evolving everyday inside my head as I work on this, so until I decide on one, I won't spend time presenting it yet.

Well I finally made it. buzy buzy buzy!!

Anyways your work looks good. Like Oweron said, her face could use more work. One other thing is the breast area, they look good, but seems to small for the size of the girl, do you see what I mean?

Im likeing Interceptor, really nice!

This is the beauty of global forums, you get feedback from different cultural points of view. I'm asian, women here are generally less well endowed up there, especially the tall ones, still, I get your point.

As for her face, hope that improves when I morph target some expressions.

Hey Vincent, like the reflections in the windshield...might consider using a SSS shader for your character's skin, since she looks slightly gray? ...just a thought...maybe a few tuffs of hair would frame her head, too? Anyhow, very nice work...look forward to seeing more!

I really like the vehicle.:) Some of the texture blurryness can be seen, though. The face on the character looks a bit strange imo - the cheeks and lips protrude suddenly, and the nose isn't properly defined. The shader could be improved, as someone else mentioned.

I love the armour and all the machiny things, though.:thumbsup:

Very early test of compositing and matte painting. Looks like it's going to be an apocalyptic picture. Format is 16:9, my favourite ratio for digital paintings.

Lighted the city. Started work on enhancing the foreground matte with moss and lichen. The foreground when finished will be given a warm renaissance kind of lighting, making it very stage like.

Very nice background -- like what you're doing with the colors in this scene as a whole. Might want to place more dramatic obvious shadows beneath your characters to plant them more firmly on the ground -- but in general this is excellent work. Looking forward to seeing the interceptor! Good luck.

Added the flying interceptor. Guide wings extend out from leg hubs. Leg armour double up as flight control airlerons.

Rendered Zia, who finally appears in the picture, after I modeled her face to reflect what I wanted her to look like.

Hence, the contemplative expression of a leader who has her team always in mind. Her face is also given subtle emphasis through a brighter render.

It is beginning to look like the "Last Supper" of mercenaries.

Stage 1 modelling of Cybot, a repair and assist robot that attaches to the interceptor. Mainly an Early warning system incorporating repair capabilities; hence all the eyes, sensors and appendages.

Test composite with EWACs (Early Warning Assist Cybots). These cybots will attach to the hull of the interceptors and are general early warning and maintenance robots. In this scene they will be loading weaponry and performing pre-flight checks.

Replace the standing Mercenary with final render. Mercenaries are complete. From here to deadline is adding of details to the scene.

Lots of detail make this image very interesting, nice modeling and texturing, Mi only crit is the middle clouds, they seem dirty, I mean, a bit monochromatic compared with the rest of the sky, that creates a disturbing element in the entire scene, outher than that nothing to crit, good job pal, hurry up and good luck :cool:

I'm also trying to submit my turntable for the 3D journey challenge and I have followed instructions to the letter. But I keep getting "Cannot convert swquence to movie"

My files are named zia0000.jpg, etc, they are 340 x 240 pixels and compressed to a .zip folder. What am I missing?

Thanks for the help on submitting the turntable. Worked when I followed your advice.

My final image will be as above unless I can get some c&c; don't know why, a lot of peolple have looked at it but very few comments.

I'm not a terrorist as far as I know.:)

Hi vincent. first thank you for dropping by at my post. I checked your post before you replied mine not long ago. You've done a great work with a lot of contents. must take you a long time. good job.

the only concern i have about the work that you've done is the current image is a bit busy. the number of elements are a bit too much which make the entire image out of focus. again that's just some personal humble thoughts. keep up the good work and good luck in the challenge.

Did final colour adjustments and aerial perspective. This is my final image. There are a couple of metaphors hidden and implied in this picture.

Hey Vincent,

Very nice scene with lots of action and stuff to look at:thumbsup: :thumbsup: and I like the colors you have used. I do think that some sort of distance haze would help out the image though.

"Severe weather change at the turn of the 21st century A.D. caused economies to collapse as governments tried in vain to stem the tide of destruction of the weather shifts, This lead to two bitter world wars as the richer nations sought resources. Entire continents were laid waste not only through man-made weapons but also the climatic change. Earth's topsoil were slowly exhausted and continents like South America, Russia, North America and most of the outer regions were reduced to deserts. Coastal areas became swamps and mudflats.

When the remnants of humanity came together after 30 years of war and destruction, civilisation again took form and within 10 years, Storm Cities, each housing 2 to 3 million inhabitants came into existence through colloboration of top minds that survived the wars.

Having found society again, Earth's scientists began collectiovely re-investigating the weather shifts. After 5 years of dead ends, earth's scientists can only conclude an extraterrestial origin for the weather conditions; thus starting an effort to search for evidence to support this theory. After 10 years ofintensive effort, evidence were finally found of an impending invasion by nomadic extraterrestials. The aliens only waited so long because they themselves were victims of planetary destruction and after 200 years of nomadic existence pirating planets along the way, were a force much depleted. And thus planned a long-term non-visible campaign of conquest against earth.

The United Confederate of economic powers managed to keep it from the general public while preparing to counter this invasion. Recruiting mercenary forces created by the previous wars and training a new secret army, earth prepared its defense. Such a monumental task could not be hid from the extraterrestials for long and they intensified their weather attacks.

The journey is about to begin. The invading force has started to show its hand. Zia, second-generation daughter of Zoa the Terrible and her band of mercenaries, prepares to journey into the vortex to face their destinies."
