This is the Toad. He is the reason why our hero character is starting his journey.
I wanted him to be larger than the other characters to set him apart visually. I want to capture in his design that he is the opposite of the hero character.

This is our hero. He is small, scarred, and ready for his journey to begin.
I haven't settled on a style yet, so I am blocking out what I want regarding the characters identifying traits.

I thought I would start my first composition test off relating directly to the journey ahead.
Our hero is making sure his dragonfly is securely tethered by the string before he makes his departure.

I could really use the feedback on this composition.

i like this... composition looks good. and very intersting tying his dragonfly.. however it might look like a nasty frog is just cathcing a dragonfly rather than setting on a journey.. unless there is going to be something in the bacground

I agree with W!L... Composition looks good, but the frog and dragonfly needs a bit of work... It shouldn't look like the frog is catching the fly... But very cool idea! I'll be following this thread!

Louieville: No doubt.

Zycho : W!L :

If I stick with this composition I will take the emphasis off tying the Dragonfly. I am still wondering what to do with the background, I wanted to have more of the animals from his village in the composition as well as the giant Toad. We'll see.

I love the story behind the concept. Hopefully you will be able to convey that in the image. Great work so far.

Hey Chris,

You have a nice story behind, try not to loose it. You can show a village behind with some characters saying goodbye and... I don't know, some "wanted" poster with the big toad.
Just and idea.

Keep going!
