MT Cupha MT, there's so few girls here..gotta be nice!
JackZhangcheers Jack- yep, should be right- if deadline was tomorrow I'd shoot myself, but still got plenty of time. small matter of feathering the duck, erk!
soapyhey soapy! it's actually alot of fun-compiling like a jigsaw! and better than waiting 24 hours for a full render. catty for example only took 20 mins with full hair!

*feathers on ducky, and final retouch of image.

Nice update! Suggestion... and perhaps you're already there since you're still working on the background, if so, chuck this in the bin. I would make the most distant buildings (last one or two) a little lighter in color to fool the eye into perceiving more distance. I like the fact the cat is the only character not looking directly at young son's flying attempt. Cats are so like that, just don't forget to make sure ducky is looking too. I think the GP's are fine. Three is always a good number. ;)

Sky is perfect. You made spaceship too? John, my friend, where do you find the time to make all these great things? You make me feel so lazy...
Looking fw to see final retouching!

Again.. I just wanna say :applause::applause::applause:LYW!

It's possibly too late in the game for this so sorry for not chiming in earlier... Pretty minor stuff anyways... Mum and bubba, their colours are a little bit blended into each other... I think it's easiest remedied by changing mummas colours... The orange you have for her is unique in this piece and stands out to my old eyes as maybe a little over saturated and outta place... Don't know if it is significant at this stage o the game tho;)

I can smell the hot silicon from here mate... Keep rockin:buttrock:

Love the yellow spaceship! Now it's clear who's in focus here - nice!
I agree about the GPs (sorry Mona) maybe fewer woulkd be better ... but if so you'll have a problem to decide which color to keep.

This is looking brilliant, John. Lipstick and the hair style on the mother are fantastic (and very funny). It's great fun to see this reaching its conclusion. And yeah, 3 GPs are cool. Any chance of a slime-trail behind the snail? You might be able to add it in postwork

shakes
05-24-2006, 09:40 AM
all going surprisingly to plan at this stage- rendering duck now , with mainly hair, but tail and wing feathers ..should look OK. tomorrow I'm finishing the flying spaceships, then it will be all safe and sound in beloved photoshop I hope!!.. then upload last day of deadline.heh

Gunilla:glad you like Gunilla! thanks as always.I'm torn about the GP's..got a mini zoo on my hands! but I might post two versions for a vote.
coochaki:thanks Mohammad! hope you're enjoying your relaxing now..wish it was me!
Womball:caterpillars! now that's something I forgot! thanks for checking out the rendo gallery-cupid..haha- you don't want him sending you an arrow?as for ducky..yellow feathers, and blue beak and feet at this stage
mdavid:thanks Mark..now that's another vote for GP family! you must be enjoying relaxing too! I like the snail trail idea Mark- will do for sure in pshop!

makaron

really like the duckies "fur", looks very nice...
and my vote goes to the 3rd one... it´s the swedish flagcolors... blue and yellow... :wip:
but I would like to see a tint of purple in that blue...
I think the green beak make him look a bit seasick...

Gunilla
05-25-2006, 05:25 AM
That's a cuddly duck now
My vote goes for the middle one, that limegreen would play with the other colors well I think.
Yohooo - almost done now? :bounce:

Womball:thanks Nathan for the suggestion..thank god for hue /saturation adjustments!!
GPQUEEN:that's cute it's swedish colours! you'll be happy to know I'm only sacrificing one Guinea Pig!
Gunilla:ah, decisions, decisions! I kinda like green too Gunilla, but hey, I got a day and a half to decide!! should be all done this time tomorrow, then a nice big beer or five!

I actually like the middle one the best, pulls the green of the dog across the composition, but is small enough and area for the dog to still stand out. I think ducky's right foot not conforming to the ground bothers me more than the color, though.

getting closer- I added a vapour trail for the ship, finished placing the city, dirtied up the floor, added ducky, and (sorry mona) removed one guinea pig.
still to do:
add spaceships
retouch buildings
rerender zakoo pilot..colour needs to be stronger

I notice that in your concept sketch you have a planet, I think you shoul put it in your final work, may give some more clue about a journey ...and I also think that will help your mood/enviroment.
and ... :D ...maybe you should try to put a little light in that room behind the mom [you can make this very easy in photoshop]... just a bit, it's a dark hole there that's bother m.
and now, go back to work :)
good luck man!

Looking good John!

Guess you are pretty stressed out now my friend!
And I thought maybe, I should not stress the pour shakes any more than he already is by dumping more suggestions on him…..

Bu nah… The best bullshit comes from big old bulls like my self! And it jus have to com out ….:)

The smoke/vapour could maybe be more distinct, stylised and cartoony in a way, I think….

And you could also ad some heat distortion around the engine outlet (a little liquefy and blurring) would do nice.
Also don’t forget some nuts and bolts falling off the ship.
And pleas don’t forget the floating leg of the daddy. You might fix it just by filling in the shadow on the ground a little.

Hang in there, for the end is near!:)

ever since little Zakoo was a baby Zogtron, he had dreamed of the day he could fly of one of the incredible space machines that zoomed past his house every day. He always wondered how the brave pilots could effortlessly navigate the vast city buildings of Zog, and not crash into them, or the other ships, for that matter!
finally, on his 1600th birthday, he was given his Zog spaceship learners licence. After completing his sky rules test,(by telepathy, to the Zog licencing department) He was now able to have his very first spaceship ride! Proudly watched by his family and pets, he felt very nervous but so excited! this was what he'd waited for all his 1600 years..for little Zakoo, the journey begins!

well, that was so much fun! thanks so much to everyone for all your support and good advice-this is an awesome community!! It's been a fantastic time.good luck to all of you who entered! cheers, shakes

Shakes, you've really outdone yourself! A zany cast of characters in a stylin' environment. I'm kinda sorry to see this come to an end. I'll miss the family updates. They were like postcards from some really weird relatives.
Thanks for sharing. Wonderful accomplishment.

well, no matter what planet you are from, the little ones grow up too fast.
Unless you are from one of thoes planets where the children eat their parents.

But seriously, I really like the way this turned out. There is so much life in all the characters.

Great job.

This just came out really fab, so well done right from the start - big congrats!
And as Glenn, I'm sort of sad not seeing more of them - maybe you should do a book? Or an animation? A website dedicated to the species? :)

Good luck for the judging, I have a good gut feeling about this

He, he, cool devil avatar John!

I feel a little like that my self after the Judges had their say.
Was on a hotel on the canary island when I got a hold of a computer.

I`m still a little stunned that you wasn’t on the winners list.
Glad I`m not a betting man! Otherwise you would have cost me a lot of money my friend.
Was completely sure you would be among the 7.

I don’t know… Maybe these jury guys are the type, that think they have been abducted by aliens at some time. And have a phobia about fury green and purple animals and stuff…

Now I`m going back to Holyday modus again.Planning to try and stay away form the computer fore 30 days.:)
