The Journey Begins Challenge (2D) Entry: Joe Ark Sun

So...due to many many unfornate circumstances, I getting an extremely late start. I started about 3 days (I swear I wasn't procrastinating...stuff happens ya?). Anyway, I held off uploading my "concept" sketch until I could upload my line art (which I will upload immediately after) due to the fact that my thumbnails are alway always abstract images--this is just how I plan my compositions.

Anyway, I've always liked doing panoramic perspective, and since I was young I've had a strange obsessions with trains, so this piece is going to play to that.

This is the concept for the engine car. it's pretty close to what I'll be doing in the final.

This is one of the cabin cars. For the most part, it's the way I want it although there are some major changes that I intend to make.

This is the lineart I've gone with. I still am not sure what the buildings in the back are going to look like. It's something I will probably comp/feel out with the painting. I didn't bother to waste time making the line art perfect in the back ground since alot of repeated elements and none of the lines will be there when I paint over it anyway (again, I'll feel it out with the paint).

For some the more complicated things I blocked out some shapes in 3d to draw over. I'm not entirely sure what the ground pattern will look like as of yet.

The area's with the red boxes are where I will be drawing/painting in the characters. I know what the characters will be doing as of yet, but I'm not 100% sure what the characters will look like yet so I didn't draw them in just yet. They will be put in at a later stage.
