Man, maya is playing catch up in the customer service department.
Lightwave is leading for a year
Lw releases a free ver of app (for 3 versions, lw always could be used in demo mode which is full access and a watermark on renders)
Maya does
Lw announces drop price
Maya does
Lw creates an extensive/massive tutorial database on their site

This tutorial database is not an official Alias|Wavefront website.
Thanks again Mikkel, first MJpolytools, now this, Maya users are very lucky indeed to have you around.

discreet seems to be really selfish about 3D. They don't give a f*** about keeping 3dsMax cost higher than Maya and a lot of user complain about their support. They're probably focusing on their compositing products...

Discreet is too arrogant and pig-headed to listen to anyone. But, they sure know how to "discreetly" ripoff the competition.
Sorry, ex-Max user here.

What's with the Discreet bashing on this thread? The support I've received from them has always been quick and useful, faster than any other software support I've ever had.
Maybe it's just the Australian branch, but i've never had any complaints.
And as for the price, get over it. Max hasn't varied it's price much since the early days, while Maya and XSI were still sky-high. Did you ever think why Maya and XSI reduced in price? Perhaps Lightwave and Max were getting more sales...:D
Great database by the way!!

Thanks :)
It's also good to see users inserting new tutorials every day
Noticed a few messages raggin on Discreets product support department and felt I should follow up. Discreet product support is willing to help anyone that contacts us with any issues regarding usage of 3ds max. Your best bet is to post over on the Discreet forums wich have recently been upgraded at http://support.discreet.com. If I see someones post on another forum I will respond, but my main responsibility has to be the main forums.
Anyway, hope that a few of you will drop by the Discreet forum if you are using 3ds max and have any questions.
Cheers,
Darv
