View Full Version : Max 4.2 Where are you?

I am a Maya user. But would love the chance at getting to work/play with Max. Can anyone point me to a place I can get a used version of Max 4.2. Spending 3 + grand on Max 5 will have to wait until I see just how much I care for Max 4.2.
E-Bay is already out,I have looked there for a couple months with no luck. Any places or anyone out there willing to sell me a version of Max 4.2 for a decent price? Thanks for any help.:)

You mean MAX 4. Max 4.2 is a free upgrade for all licensed users.

You won't be able to get a licensed copy because discreet won't let you transfer licenses. All resellers will be selling Max 5 now. So, you're likely out of luck trying to purchase a copy of Max 4 from any legit place.

Well actually a used version from someone selling there license of 4.2. I don't think there are any shops selling Max 4.2

I cannot get a up-grade to Max 4.2 or Max 5 because I have never owned Max of any kind in the past.
Thanks for anymore further help. Max 5 is tooooo steep for me,I already just dropped quite a bit for Maya and it's extra's.But also want to be proficient in Max as well.
Max 4.2 would be nice now,and later if I feel good with Max I'll up-grade to Max 5 or Max 6 when it comes out.

There is a demo of Max as far as I know. It's been on the cover of some UK graphics magazines. You could also try Gmax, which is like Max with bits missing and free from Discreet. It's a shot in the dark, but beats being dishonest. :)
