About the game:

Infinity is an Elite-inspired open-ended game, set in a futuristic universe. It uses a 3D engine that i've been developing in my free time during the past 2 years, and one of the main features are seamless space-to-planet surface transitions. Players will be free to explore, fight, trade, do research or missions, form corporations, etc.. This engine is based on procedural algorithms, which means the universe will be populated by billions of worlds, all unique, with realistic scales and dimensions.

I am looking for a talented texture artist that has some experience working with next-gen art. I do have a few models sitting on my hard drive, waiting to be textured. Depending on the model, UV-mapping might already be done or not.

- textures should be high resolution ( from 1024^2 to 2048^2 ), a single model / ship can use multiple textures depending on its size / complexity.

- textures should include the diffuse, specular, bump and illumination maps.

- you must have a perfect understanding of how to paint and use a bump map.

- if you can UV-map the model, it's a plus.

The game is still in production and will likely not be released before end 2007. You need to have enough time and motivation to work on it, so mature people with a stable life and social situation are prefered. If you are interested, please send links to some of your best previous works and / or your portfolio.

At the moment i cannot offer any compensation except credits, but if the project succeeds, payment ( as a flat fee, or royalties ) is possible.

Anybody ? This is a serious project and a good opportunity to show off your skills in a game.

Oh wow! I checked out the website, that's amazing!! I love looking at satelight pics of the earth and other things, so playing it in a game would be great. I hope this goes well for you (as I hope to play it as soon as it comes out :D). Sorry I can't help though, I'd love to, but I can't really commit to another project right now. Does this use the same engine as MT or parts of it? It'd be awesome to blast off of Middle Earth and look down on it all :p
P.s. Have you ever heard of the program MojoWorld? Its fun to play around with, but rendering takes forever, realtime would be so nice!

Yes, it's running on the same engine ( by the way, i just have finished a new version of the ASEToBin viewer tool with texturing and shaders, i'll make a post in the MT thread soon ).

Sure, you'd be hard pressed to find a program that makes use of procedural techniques that i don't know of yet :) Mojoworld can create truely fantastic landscapes. Unfortunately, none of these are real time...
