View Full Version : Rendering Previz?
rquinn 03-02-2006, 09:38 PM Hi
I am trying to render out and save as a movie file or sequence what is in my perspective viewport.. for previz purposes. (in 3dsmax)
rendering it actually for real is too long and i half to start timing shots and music.
does anyone know how to do that?

Hey Quinn!
(This is technically a Max question for the Max board, though ;) )
Select the viewport you want to render, go to "animation" menu, "make preview", and "create". :)
If you select "avi", the file will be put in a default .max directory, but if you choose "custom file type", you can type in any location and file type you want.
Be aware though, it screws up the first frame of the video file.
Cheers,

You're welcome. ;)
The bug is, as far as I recall, the FIRST frame of your preview-render is always "current frame" (where you are in the timeline when you activate the render).
So frame number two in the render is actually frame number one in the timeline, and the last frame in the timeline is not rendered.
At least, that's my experience in max 6 & 7. ;)
Cheers,
- Jonas
