I just think the tower is too big or is too near ... To be a epic journey, at least for me, it should be a long travel for a far place ... so if the tower is near, isn´t a journey .. hehe :thumbsup:

Has already someone said, i guess the tower should be in a longer distance, to be an epic journey. Besides that i like the perspective you present to us, a group that has reach a stage and its ready to strike/begins its journey. At least thats how i saw it.
The light and the atmosphere is very interesting:)

very nice sketch. Beutiful pallete. I like the size of the tower compositionally. Just make sure it fades nicely into the distance. Maybe something should be put infront of the base to push it more into the distance. Like an island, forest or hills. Something to "extend" the journey.

So, about your sketches...I like the variation of colors you´re using, the gradient from purple to yellow gives a drammatic touch for the painting, good. As a sketch the style is awesome.I have one crit. about the proportions, not the character, but proportion between foreground and background. I don´t know, the bground is too closer, it not seems that is a extent landscape, or terrotory. Perhaps if you resize the hills, leaving them more lower.
Anyway, is looking good, keep it up!

who is to say that the those tall tower/mountain structures must be their destination? i don't think there's a problem leaving them the way they are if you're happy with what it does compositionally and emotionally. you've done a good job pushing it back into the distance. perhaps it just represents the kinds of seemingly insurmountable obstacles that these tiny creatures must overcome.

are you planning on leaving the title on the image? it's not to the point of distraction or anything, but i would prefer seeing the image without it for now. :) looks like this is shaping up to be a fine entry!

Judging by the thumbnail, I was not impressed at all, but now that I see it large, really nice stuff!:thumbsup: Maybe u have to add a bit more to the bottom to help with the depth of this, or prolly the middle ground needs working on to get at least the thumb to look attractive, hmmm. Maybe it is my taste, hmm. It may be that there is no character in it that gives the feeling of the journey beginning as well. These are things to consider and ask urself.
Maybe have the character that is flying away, wave back at the characters in the foreground, Maybe ur intending that, not sure though. Anyways good luck with it, I hope to see u solve this! I will be dropping by later!:thumbsup:

lovely lighting and colours this far.. and the depth is really starting to come together. Perhaps moving a couple of the characters forwards towards the viewer a little might help too with the depth and give the piece an immediate place of focus, my personal preference would be the guy on the dragonfly... if you brought him closer, you could even have him reading a map, so its obvious they are just starting out too. Just suggestions, its a magical piece as it stands...

I think that this is very wise decision. The sun is shineing so much that covers almost 2/3 of the whole picture . This is good becouse you have a lot of joy in it and at the same time you hide the path in front of the "heroes" , leting the viewer to wander where they'r going ( you put mysticism ) , and thats how the story and journey begins.
