Hello, another question if you can help.
Once I've built my character, textured him applied the skin modifier and got the skeleton all working and ready to be attatched how can I get more control over the envelope controls within skin?

The paint weights is alright, but there's an include verticies button that only worked once and then never did again. Is it possible to select verticies exactly and choose what the weight is on each??
Thanks.

You can do this in max, but to get smooth bending in the mesh it is wise to do this only in the final tweaking stage. Trust me take advantage of the envelopes, I have found that most of the time I can get what I need using envelopes alone. Hope this helps :)

Not only can you resize the envelopes but you can also move the entire envelopes itself. just select the bar in the center and move it. Also, under the filters roll out, check verticies. Then you can use the include and exclude buttons under the Paint roll out. You don't have to have Paint turned on in order to use include/exclude.

I find this very useful when say, The envelopes for the right thigh are crossing over to the left thigh. Just select the verticies on the left thigh that are being affected and click exclude.

Also, when using Paint be sure to play with the falloff settings and the other settings too. It makes a big difference on the weight of the verticies.
