Umm, so this is my first CGChallenge...
Until now, I came up with three different Ideas, here is a sketch of the first one.
It's about a family that lives in a peaceful Forrest and in line with nature.
But a war begins and evil rises up again and everyone must leave their homes to battle the evil.
This picture shows a Familiy the last time they were seen before their journey into the battle.
A rough pencil sketch (which I will post later) I made about two years ago.
I don't know, if old sketches are allowed, if not, I will abandon this concept.

My second concept is inspired by the nordic mythology, where a proud warrior starts his last journey.

But I think, I will stick with my third concept, which I yet still have to sktech.
It's about a wanderer which starts his journey into freedom and a new live.
His sunlight face is full of joy and happiness, but all the scars on his body are telling a story of agony which he experienced in this dark land/town (in the background), from where he broke free.
Still there are people from this dark town, which are crossing his path (walking into the opposite direction back to this dark town) looking evil at him.
But for him, the journey began and nothing and no one will hold him up.
yo vyse_soa welcome & have fun :D
I like your 3rd idea best so far ... looking forward to what you'll come up with :bounce:

The image of the boat has a more symbolic feel. Feels like there's more of a story abut to begin.
I'm not sure if there's a better way of communicating the tension in the lines. perhaps more directional pulling or one of them *just* snapping as the waves throw themselves against the vessel?

the 2nd looks better where it has a direction of where the journey leads:thumbsup:
goodluck to ya and enjoy the challenge

Vhan, yeah thanks, Gutes gelingen ;)
In the meanwhile, I have distanced myself form the first concept.
Its not very dynamic, and without explanation, it may be difficult to guess a beginning journey. I like also the 2nd one better.
Now, that you mention it, Cyberone, it really has someting in common with the movie =P
Snap, sh@ake, you have right, it has a certain direction, but I think the 2nd one will be pretty difficult for me to draw at the moment, there are some elements that I haver never done bevore (fur, wild water).
mindofka, makaron, thanks.
I think, I'll stick with the 3rd one...
I will be pretty though too, but I think, I will have to most fun, drawing the 3rd one,
and thats at moment the most important thing to get somewhere ;)
thx...
Ummm... next time, I'll use a real pen for the sketch <_<

...hmm, maybe it would be better to place the town he's leaving, a bit lower.

I hope all the colors match somehow to eatch other, I just dont have a feeling for colors...
I'll have to add more geometric stuff here and there, some bad guys and maybe rework the wanderer.

Had some Problems with the perspective/angle.
lol, until now, I have never seriously used this perspective guidelines, I just hope, I have used them in the right way... but I think, the angle doesn't look that bad now... ummm...
After experimenting and drawing the whole day, my back hurts like hell.
Need to get a beer now.

even in this concept you achived great atmosphere and depth! Perspective is very good too.The pic looks very dynamic.I felt the it was "I" who wil choose the road not that guy on the pic :) 'looking forward to see it's progress.

Velarion, Hehe, wow, nice to hear that. ''^^
The right angle makes such a difference between this two wanderes.
From now on, I will always use perspective guidelines until I get the right feel for the angles.
I always had the feeling, this guidelines would affect my creativity in some negative way... :banghead:

I just didn't get any further.
So I tried to get in the flow again with only greyscales, it worked.
I will add the all the colors in the end.
