Hey all,

I just received a test from a company and I wanted to stop here and ask before I went to asking the guy at the company how the heck I go about doing this.

Its a pretty simple explaination: Two maps I ahve to do (512' s), only diffuse though. My question would be, how do I get any color out of a diffuse map in the material using maya. I have only ever used a color map to get color....

I dont know if I should feel this way but I do. When I read what they wanted I felt so stupid and like I dont even deserve to get a job. I think its just the fact that map usage for color, bump, spec, etc. seems simple, but I jsut cant figure this out.

to whom replys with any answer: Thanks a great deal. You cant imagine how much it will help.

It's not Maya specific, but may ntl give you some bg understanding:

A diffuse map is just another greyscale image, whiter is more diffuse, daker is, well.. less diffuse:). I honestly know nada about Maya, but LW texturing distinguishes between color and diffusion. Two separate channels, two separate image maps.

Good Luck:thumbsup:
