wow.... i like the second one, not that there is really something wrong with the first one but i really dig people who can do architectural environment settings which seem to fit cause im a total fraud at this.

what would be the thought behind this? where are the heroes that begin to travel and where are they planning to go? just a bit curious^^ hope you dont mind

keep up the good work and keep updating :)

Half man half elf. I don't know how this happend but it did. I think I will stay with the mushroom forest with little elf people. But this drawing is an idea of what the elfs will look like

I went back to my first concept. I think this will be alot cooler in the long run. I started painting in some forground and roughed out the chericter on the stump. Im just going to work in black and white so that I can concentrate on the charicters and detail and then bring in the color at the end. Let me know what you guys think.

Lovely mushroom picture! Only crit is that there's not much suggestion of a journey, I would bring that element into it a bit more, while maintaining the great values and sketch that you have going there. :)

Keep it up.

I worked on this all weekend and I think I have it where I want it. The color work is going to take some time. If anyone knows how to make good tree limbs can you let me know I use alot of the smudge tool in photoshop alot and it's not working well on the tree in the background. Thanks

I have been working on the warm colors. I still need some cool blues in the shadows to make the painting ritcher.

Really nice colors, Cory! Looking very good.
One thing that throws me for a loop is the scale. My first impression of the picture's characters was "Hey, why would leprechauns have modern backpacks and clothes?" But then I started to wonder if maybe the mushrooms were just huge. The rocks in the foreground could be any size, and the castle's far enough in the background that it too could be mamoth... or the size of a refridgerator but just large compared to these people. I think some more clues to the actual scale might help... or it might not be that important at all! :-)

Anyhow, coming along nicely...!

Good point. I wanted the elfs to look human. The castle is in scale with the mushrooms. Almost as if they are in the land of giants. The rocks are small up front but I wanted the rocks to be more of a fine rock and durt. I can

That's some amazing progress. I don't want to give you any criticisms at this point, because the only thing that probably needs work is the background, which you're obviously gonna work on more. I'll be watching this, great work so far.

i like your pallete! composition looks good!:) it seems to me that you may put something on the foreground to make the composition "closed". but it is only in my eyes, in general everithing is good!:) good luck!

looks like the journey has begun already here.. and they're almost at the castle, which gives the impression that the castle is where they're going to, and that the journey is almost completed. You might want to mess around with that a bit so that it fits better to the theme (or mabe I don't just see everything that's going on or what's in your head)

What do you guys thing of my addition. It changes the composition of the art alot but I think it adds character. I need to work on the characters more to give them some life. Thanks for all your coments and advice keep it comming.

i really like the bee-rider there, almost makes me wish that the other characters were somehow using bugs as well to get to their goal...

one small crit about the firgure that is being helped up the mushroom: i feel his right arm is somehow hanging down strangely, i think that maybe it would look better if he was "grabbing " the mushroom with that hand instead, kindof looking to get a grip so he can help getting up there a little. just a suggestion though;) keep rockin mate!

i think the bee is a cool idea...but.... i actually liked it alot better with out it...
i think that is changes the story into something a little too complex and harder to read...

the composition is still fine..
lol

i wanna ride a bee!!

wildcory1

The arm is a little strange noe that I look at it. Maybe he should be pushing off another mushroom or grabing onto the mushroom. Thanks I will work that out

Hmmm, the bee is an interesting addition. It certainly sets the scale for the characters. Where do bee's wings attach to their bodies? Do they attach on the backs or sides? Or is the man being beaten upside the head by bee-wings at a rat of 130 times a second?

Compositionally, it feels like you could now open up the picture more on the right to give space around the Bee. Soemthing I learned once in a class long ago (by comic book artist John Byrne, who at the time was the bee's knees) was that if something is flying you shouldn't cut off one a side of the panel. Feels like you could also think about giving it some space at the bottom, too, so it's not sitting on these mushrooms/rocks in the lower right.

anyhow, nice to see the changes you're making. Good luck with it!

ohhh lovely, I like very much the composition and atmosphere, It looks so much an aventure.
I would sugest that you decrease the left man leg, the one that is in the ground, I think it is too long.

cheers.
