SUP EVERYBODY....

I'M STILL THINKING OF THE CONCEPT HERE WHAT I HAVE SOO FAR.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/THECLYKE/a7aee8b8.jpg

I THINK THIS ONE IS A CLIECHE...DON'T REALLY FEEL LIKE DOING IT.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/THECLYKE/55e54a48.jpg

THIS IS KINDA FUNNY...MY LITTLE BROTHER CAME UP WITH THIS IDEA
2 SOLDIERS GET "OWNED" (THEY DIEIN BATTLE) AND GO TO HEAVEN BUT THEY DON'T KNOW IT.
THIS ONE WILL DEFINATLY BE CARTOONY.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/THECLYKE/022894a9.jpg

AND THEN THERES THIS ONE.....A LOST TRUCK DRIVER, 2 STOL AWAYS AND POSSIBLY A HOT CHICK GETTING THE DRIVERS ATTENTION. ALSO WILL BE CARTOONY.

HMMM BUT I'M STILL THINKING......ANY FEED BACK COULD HELP?

Hey Everybody.....

I'm back and I finally decided my idea.
3 friends decide one day at the normal chill spot that it's time to visit the local mountain top. Problem 1 the normal chill spot is ontop of a roof. plus one of the friends is sick!!!!
ok..ok...so the idea is lame but hey iv'e been working on it...and I'm really feel strong about the poses and stuff.
I was inspired by xtreme sports. So this is how this idea was spawned.those guys that jump off of buildings poped in my head to.
Any way....
I can't draw a acurate straight line without a ruler and i sure as hell can't draw a an acurate line with a tablet sooo...i going to use MAYA TO BLOCK OUT THE PERSPECTIVE!

SEE YA IN A BIT!

K SO IT'S FUNNY....I DID THIS IN ABOUT 3 HOURS AGO. PRETTY QUICK LOW REZ STUFF.

OK...REMEMBER I CAN'T DRAW ACURATE LINES.
BUT I CAN MODEL THEM

This black lines are from a the Vector render in maya. Sweet for doing big cities I say because there is alot of consistant lines that are very close to each other.

as I said before this was modeled and rendered in 3 hours...ok four!
I also decided to flip the image around.
i like it this way.

THIS CHARACTERIS THE SKETCHY ONE OF THE THREE. SHE THINKS SOMTHING BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN....HENSE THE FIBLE LOOKING POSE.

OK...

I'M GONNA ADD A HUGE BLIMP!

So like I was thinking the idea has to be a journey begining and having 3 characters posing ontop a building is'nt evokeing that feeling soooooo..I'm placing the blimp in there to represent the path of the journey to the mountain.
The mountain in the background being the destination or end if you will. thus creatig more reason for one of the characters to say hey lets go to the mountain.....

also i'm adding some pigeons because they are everywhere.

BACK TO WORK

Nice characters man. Pretty tight lineart for someone who can't draw freehand lines :scream: Anyway, your composition looks great. I just dont know how you're gonna portray the idea that the characters are thinkin' about climbing that mountain, when they could be thinking of riding that blimp, even jumping off the buildling :P The chick upfront looks depressed so there might be a possibility that she's thinking about jumping off... :scream: Cityview's amazing. Specially when that mountain gets added up in the scene.

My only crit is that other chick on the right is too close to the edge of the canvas. The viewer's eye's might get stuck on that spot considering that the girl upfront is where the eyes will focus on first and she's the next target. And if she isnt the next target, and the eye focuses on the girl on the left, the chick on the right might not get noticed at first glimpse. Check you out later. ~peace

cool thread man! thanks for posting the demos of the char sketches. really interesting stuff to look at.

only crit from me is that the girl on the right has a pretty beefy neck and it's probably too lng with that collar. but the pose and the hair over the shoulder look so great that i don't even know if you want to touch it.

also i agree with ahb about maybe opening up the right of the canvas a bit. it'll give you a more filmic aspect ratio anyway.

cheers,
~B

Here is the image without the plans.
I changed the position of the third charcter and right now i'm working on 2 other characters that will be placed in the position left of the girl looking off the canvas.

thanks for the comments guys

See ya next post.

HERES SOME POSE CHANGES

Beautiful work, man. I Love the expression on the hooded girls face, its like she knows something the other girls aren't aware of. I love how you posed her, looking cool but vulnerable at the same time. This whole concept is amazing, I'm itching to see the final image, I'm sure its gonna be craaazzy. Although, I don't know if you noticed, maybe its just me but the crouching girl's hand looks a bit awkward in that it is alooks a bit large and flat compared to the rest of her body, looks a bit unnatural. Also, it doesn't look like it is coming from the other side of her body, instead like it is coming out of her back. Everything else is dynamicly posed with lots of curves and that fist just kinda stick out like a sore thumb. However, it may just be my OCD acting up but I hope that helped and I'll be looking forward to seeing how this baby turns out.
