Hi,
I have seen a few texture maps that look like all multi/sub object image files combined into one image. ( eg seperate face, torso, leg, arm textures all merged in to one image).
Is this how an entire character texture might be condensed in to a single 1024x768 file that could be applied to a model? Presumably this is a game technique or is it just an asthetic way of presenting multiple texture maps for same model.optimized textures for games is a new world for me. Am just wondering if i am missing fundemental.

If you are using 3D studio max, you should see, rendering/render to texture dialog. I think that in other programs this is called Bake texture
