Hello everyone...

Don't know why, but finally, I'm here... always stronger than me... I have no time actually to participate with my big World's Fair project... but anyway... I enter in this challenge... don't know if I will be able to start something and again less to finish something.

But as it's always a great pleasure to be with you all here... to share much about our passion and about fun... another time, I take a place here.

In any case, I wish you all the best of lucks in your challenge, and always remember, we are all here especially for the fun :wavey:

Certainly the worst stupid decision of the day... just remain me to try managing all my short times...

women take your clothes off ! The party begins now !!!
Good program anyway Cadet

finally... http://hem.bredband.net/makaron/smile/shy.gif
Maybe someone can explain me why :surprised

Best of luck to you Mr. lemog

Thanks for wishes Michael... but this time, I'm really here for fun... for passion... certainly not a real challenge for me.

As I want to continue to work in the same time on my real project... maybe I can do something which can be usefull for it... my only way to participate here...

Just on a side-note, this isnt gonna deprive us of updates on the world fair now is it?
About the happy modeling... no prob for me... it's a pleasure of each days...
...and for the side-note... don't worry... I continue the project... while trying to do an update each day... I will try to conserve the same advancement of 2 pavilions by month... then 6 pavilions during the challenge.
But as you will see... my journey challenge will be in the same topic...

i'm sure you will make a great 3D stuff ... if you start the challenge
En tout cas t'en feras toujours plus que moi
Hahaha... j'ai failli te poser la question sur une éventuelle participation... mais ça va peut-être venir...
Thanks for your words... I'm waiting your thread now...

Well... 3 ideas...

As I said previously when I enter in this Challenge, my World's Fair Project of Paris 1900 can't be stopped, and is more important that this challenge...

...my only possibility to participate here is to find an idea also usefull for the other project.

Preliminar thought :

During this incredible Paris 1900 World's Fair, there's many possibilities of Journey... it's big, it's great... that ask much and much time to visite... more of 100 hectares... much kilometers to walk... also the possibility to used some mechanical machine to move, the moving sidewalk, the electric train...

Another aspect that I want to follow with my project, and I can used, is the final way... the final animation... as made by a cameraman embarqued in an airship of this time, fly along all the pavilions and attractions of this exposition (about the first idea...).

Lemog

First Idea : THE AIRSHIP JOURNEY AT PARIS 1900 WORLD'S FAIR

For an event like this World's Fair... of course the Journey start by the entrance, it exists one really big... a great gate... number 29 (on something as 50 gates...) named "Porte Binet" (Mr Binet is the creator of this gate)... This gate is planed to welcome many thousands of visitors per days... and the Journey is at the other side for these peoples... but the Journey is also for the cameraman... more for him in this case...
This guy is just on the place front of the great Binet's Gates, preparing his Journey of flying... the airship is here, on the ground's place, he's putting his cameras, some boxes, wires, bag of sand... all that kind of things needed in a balloon...

...this guy (maybe me...) is finally the World's Fair Explorator !

Lemog

As I'm working actually on the most insteresting part of the World's Fair of Paris... the Nation's Street... It's certainly one of the first things to visit in this Exposition... and a good way to start this visit was to use the moving sidewalk... which start front of the first pavilion... the Italian one... A very beautiful and large pavilion, inspired by the most spectacular buildings of Venice as the Doge's Palace...
We can visualize here the Moving SideWalk... with the crowds ready for the Journey, started their travel along these pavilions on this first Station... with the Italian Pavilion as background.

There's an another part in this World's Fair, a very interesting one, something as a little village, a medieval reconstruction of Paris streets... a kind of Journey inside 4 centuries...
This part of the exposition was built on the Seine Quay... with a part built on the River Seine, on piles...
There's an existing gate to enter in this little city... and a landing stage just beside... where the Seine-Boats stopped to drop their crowds... that can be very original... a queue as ants of people... at the boat to the city entrance than.

Of course... all advices are welcome...

Good ideas Lemog -Adding weight to your Paris Fair project is a sensible way of going about the CG Challenge.

I think I like the airship idea overall, if only because you could use it to do some fantastic animated flybys of your fair after the challenge :) On the other hand though, I seem to remember you producing a 'similar' concept with a large hot air balloon a while ago?

..So maybe the boat idea would be the more original way to travel!

Pete.

I think you coujd make good modelisation with this :)

Pourquoi pas joindre l'utile à l'agréable ! Si il y a moyen que ça serve ton autre projet, ça peut le faire. A savoir si tu n'es pas en dehors des règles du concours, c'est au jury de décider.

It would be great if this challenge will serve your other project ! Now, you just have to know if your not by the law of this contest doing this... The jury will tell.
So Let's go !

makaron
03-02-2006, 12:43 PM
you can let us see the fair from the boat in a mouse perspektive or as a little bug from the balloon :)

In any case... I will do the Airship for the Project...

On the other hand though, I seem to remember you producing a 'similar' concept with a large hot air balloon a while ago?
Of course a little... in the GSO challenge... not really "balloon" but antique visionary spaceships... but the time is similar...

I forget an information about the big gate... I've planed a scene in the early of April (the beginning of the expo...) the day is not yet left... and this gate is illuminated by thousands of lights...

So maybe the boat idea would be the more original way to travel!
Original, yes... maybe the most easy to visualize the Visitors Journey...

Personnaly, I've a little preference for the #1 and the #3... the composition seem more easy in the #1 and the #3, the most complicated is maybe the #3 but the most original... damned... not easy...

Thanks a lot for your advice Pete...

I think you coujd make good modelisation with this :)
Many things to do...
- a large part of many medieval buildings...
- a boat
- the landing stage
- and all the crowds... thousands of little mid_poly people...

...largely 3 months of work... :scream:

It would be great if this challenge will serve your other project ! Now, you just have to know if your not by the law of this contest doing this... The jury will tell.
So Let's go !
Bah... this time, I'm really here for the pleasure and the fun to be with your all... not for the final result... this time, the rules let less place to interpretation... that will be harder for a subject than mine... but in any case... I can participate...

you can let us see the fair from the boat in a mouse perspektive or as a little bug from the balloon :)
That certainly the best way... but too early... that required much more pavilions I can do during these 3 months... I reserved that for the end of the project...

Hey Lemog!
The idea you have for a massive gate (like 50 you said) will work pretty good me think.
Making some figure standing in front of it, very very small, will make it even bigger.. DUH!
Just wanted to say I'd like that! "Enter the gate to...."

Waiting for more..

Ah, yes! Voting time!

The first - yes, very cool and so ...very you :)

Second - The moving pavement, so crazy thing - it could make a really fun and interesting scene, with some details of drama - a kid dropping his toy or something. Sweet!

Third - This is almost even more fantastic - gives room for all kinds of situations and scenery - but, maybe it will be hard to understand without reading a description? The mixing of ages could be tricky ti solve easily...

Not easy, but the second and the third definitely have lots of potential for unexpected stuff!

Ouh gosh really hard choice , all those 3 work really well and are so you ... :curious: ... mmmh let's see :hmm: ... err ... :banghead:

the 3rd one ... but I definitely don't know why :argh: ...
Maybe because , the way I'm picturing it , the 3rd image look prettier with the water , the reflection and stuff ...
Yep ... that's my vote , not a clear one but still ... :)

cheers ,

Something cool came to mind with your Airship idea. I could just imagine a very vertigo-esque angle where the camera points down at the loading ramp with the airship behind and nothing but a thousand feet of air underneath. And a thousand eager participants nervously cross the rickety threshold into the derigible... and ... SNAP! Nah.

Yeesh, I gotta lay off the old Peter Jackson stuff.

Good morning Laurent!

Though it's very original, the moving sidewalk is unfortunately the concept I can't imagine well for a still...
The two other concepts may work fine, I prefer the first one...
The camera man as a main character is a good idea and imagine the day of the opening, the excited crowd at the main gate, the illumination and the waiting airship:) ...
go with the first concept:wise: !

Rebeccak -> Maybe that will be possible... I will do my best...

Xenobus -> Thanks for wishes... glad to see you here gars

Shakes -> thanks for advice John... I can see a come back of the first one...

Agamemnwn -> yes, the nut is here... I just hope to have time to do something good... thanks for your support Aggie.

Climax -> Hey Omar... another time together here as you can see... yes... now, it's really me on the avatar... not ashame at all... hahaha

beelow -> noted my friend...

lotah -> Hey Diego... always here for the support... your genial mal... just waiting the croquis...

dvelasco -> of course, the third is certainly a great project... but... I will explain my latest thoughts below...

kingfish3d -> about crazy conversations... it's certainly the only thing really sure here... hahaha... thanks for your advice Gaetan.

SantoAnderson -> that can be a great idea for the first one... must keep the idea... thanks Brian...

Rasamaya -> yes... but building the entire city need certainly more than 3 months, not ? and it's really my goal... well... an another idea is maybe better for the challenge...

Bikod -> I note it Egbert... thanks for your words.

DaWinky -> Morning sabie... I must acknowledge to have think to this choice a large part of my night time... and your advice start to comfort that... I'll certainly go for this one... to follow for more... monday the final decision in any case.

Sonic-X -> Thanks Corrie to follow this idea too...

Dravenfr -> Of course my friendn I know you well... but in any case of choice... I will do this Old Paris... but later...

bouledpue -> Hahaha... Axel, nice to see you here... you just have to follow the light... and enter... thanks to be here again mec...

Squibbit -> yes... of course...

.... MOAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH :scream:

Morning thoughts now...

About the first idea... for my project, I need this gate... but during the project, it's certainly not a thing I will do soon... then, maybe this challenge is the opportunity...

About the second one... of course... it's not surely the must easy for a still picture as sai previously Sabie...

The third... I really need this Old Paris in my project... but I must do all the parts, all the houses... I don't think that's very compatible with this challenge... too much work... and also too much work of documentation in the same time... it's more a 6 months project...

Well... strong of these constatations... I think to choose the first... but all can change during the week-end, final choice is for monday... :bounce:

Morning Sabie...

... I forget to precise this morning... I make my choice of course... As I started to say at the end of the last week... the first concept seem the more adapted for the both... the challenge and the project...
...with this one, I can keep two aspects of the topic... the journey for the crowds... and/or the journey for the airship man... that can give me more lattitude to interpretate that...
...about the style... something really in this World's Fair mood... or maybe possible, as a poster to announce this incredible journey... I will see...

Now, I must work of the composition... and present soon a real concept sketch... I already have a kind of vision in my mind, just need now to put it on the paper to really see if that works well or not...

I will try to work on it next night...

Here's now the concept sketch about the project choosen... the first...

Not very original, but in the way of my project, and anyway in the subject of this challenge.

Resume :

We are in April 1900... the first day for this incredible World's Fair... cross of centuries... the XXth century just started...

...like soon, the entrance of this incredible gate, the crowds is already waiting... thousands of spectators are ready to live this grand adventure... this magical adventure.

These peoples are not alone... a guy is ready to discover this World's Fair too... but with a different manner... by the air way, with his flying machine, his aiship.

This guy, he's a simpathethic brazilian, expatried in france, an inventor, and a little a genius, passionated by all the technics. He's named Alberto Santos-Dumont.

His latest airship, the number 4 is ready only since few weeks, ready too to discover this World's Fair by the air way...

To keep the memories of this fantastic travel, he take with him some photo and camera materiels... thanks to Thomas Edison and the Lumières Brothers...

The Santos-Dumont AirShip Journey at the World's Fair Paris 1900 can start now...

Yes Gilles... the universe appear very similar... but 50 years after... and here, it's not a visionay view...
The only thing not really possible in this story, it's this flight of Santos-Dumont... his airship number 4 never fly alone... but I've prefered to choose this one than the number 6 by example, the one which fly around the Eiffeil Tower, but only in 1901... later for my story...as it's only a story... I choose the one of the good time...

About lighting... it's the reason I choose the early morning... I want to keep a little of the night, because this gate was illuminated by thousands of lights... it was something incredible in 1900... you can imagine this gate of more 40 meters high...

Il will try to catch the feeling of this moment... the feeling of 1900's people discovering these illuminations, and this incredible flight...

I don't think to start modeling this evening... I must work before on the blueprint of this gate... the design is not very easy to understand... and I want to be precise...
Nice day for you miss

This time, that will be not very imaginative you know... as this gate really existed in 1900... but the work on it can make the difference... and exprim something strong and beautiful... it's my mission...
Thanks for your words Jorge :)

makaron -> the son of Lemog will be certainly happy with this another pretty one... with the nice tongue... thanks Mona...

lotah -> about the details certainly very near but in flight can be sufficient to be view... but I've think too at the other possibility to place it in the crowd... but I don't want to catch all this gate... of course, that can change during the challenge, other ideas can come...

Thanks for picture... the first posted is the number 6 of 1903... named "la balladeuse"...

And on the other pic... it's an artist view... the airship number 6, the one which turn around the Eiffel Tower in 1901, and his airplane number 14bis on the ground, but in 1906...

I start by the gate and not by the airship because I need more documentation about this balloon, as details of the engine, or the structure... I will do some search during the gate construction...

Of course, the compo si not very very original... I hesitate between two... and choose this one for the moment... but maybe when that will be more advanced, that will be change, I don't want to be figed in only one way...
...in other hand, I can't permit me a framing too much hard... I want to respect a little the kind of framing of this time... the spirit of this time... I must manage the good blend between both... traditional and originality... my goal in fact. Thanks for your good advice Séb... :bounce:

Edit: Also, I really like the way you present your work- it looks sort of antique, yet updated. This is a whole new style and totally unique to you. Must...keep...looking...

j'ai subscribee :p

You ... you're unbelievable :applause: Are you sure Cadet ? It's mister Binet the incredible guy who designed this Spectacular Entrance... not of course the most beautiful, but certainly very original...

As you certainly know now... I don't like to post some snapshots or quick renders... It's stronger than me... I always try to post something pleasant for eyes... it's my deal...

woarf ... good  ça en fait quelques uns de chiottes quand même... pratique... huhuhuhu

Some owesome modelling there dude. It's going to be a scene of grand scale I can see.
Grand scale... yes and no... this Monumental gate was around 45 m lenght and 40 m high... the scene will be not much more large I think... Just about the crowds, I don't know exactly how much persons I must place... certainly between 500 and 1000... don't know...

Wow, that's going to be another Lemog Masterpice.
I love your style. Incredible details.
Russel.
Thanks mate... about these details, I must take care with this one... with the amount of people, I must certainly work lighter than my previous projects... thanks for stopping here
