Cool original idea you've got going. The low-key lighting should work nicely, but just be careful to get enough light in to show off the details and make the image really dynamic.
Although I know how tempting it can be to keep the image really dark for concepts like this!

looks pretty good. my only concern might be the image wont be as appealing as it could be. umm. I guess what i am trying to say is i think it might benefit from another couple details. details that maybe give an idea of where his great journey is coming from. something that will keep the viewer looking at the image and discovering soemthing new. maybe one of your favorite books you read is on the edge of the night stand. i dont know exactly what you would want to add. i just think you might want to add something more.
and i do realize that it was an initial concept paint. anyways like the concept cause i know every night is definately a new journey. Dreams are an amazing gift for us to explore our mind.

Nice idea! But as mmbenya mentions it's very open for possibilities... what will he be dreaming about? Can't wait for what comes out! Also it would be important to portray a dark/night scene, but not too dark that it loses contrast.
Good luck!

Started blocking out a head at 7:00 morning. This is not for the main character, as i will use reference for him. I'll use it for something in the dream part of the image....i have to find some time to work on that.

Hi! I really do like the idea of sleeping as a journey. You actually feel different when you wake up, like at the end of a long journey, and you actually walk through fantastic regions of your mind. Looking forward to see it completed!

I'm thinking of putting a Dali- like landscape in there. I'll try and compose it in the first concept image and see how it looks. We'll see

Wow i really love your hand models -the way you have them posed is so elegant - the one in the foreground has this elegant, listless look to it -very much how a ballet dancer might hold it -lovely!

hah this is funny, if everyone reading through this thread tells 'the lazy bastard' to get a life as an artist and actually apply his skills, we could create a new artistic movement in itself...just drop by every once in a while and say, "Inspired yet Konstandinos??!" : )
what a contructive way to vent
