Starting off whit a rapid Photoshop sketch.
Sometimes journeys start a little confusingly, before it is all well planned out, and that is the emotion I want for this image.
They are on a long table behind a bowl of fruit. I want some flowers on the table as well, but I didn't manage to fit them in. I'd rather get lost while I'm in Maya anyway so it doesn't really matter that much at this point.
I'm going for a perspective I'm having difficulties in when working in 2D
Need to put some chairs as well, now that I think of it.

Yay !

How cute is that !! :bounce: Cool sketch Valentina !

I remember that bug you did in the Photo / WIP Exchange. It was nice. I'm sure this will go well and I like your sketch. Details like chairs and stuff will only help. Have Fun!

Hey kewl, also 3D, the colours are cool, but it's hard to tell if they're going anywhere or not I think. Since looking at the perspective they don't a lot of places to so heh.

Good luck, curous to see the rest.

Buuugs!!! Weehee!!! :scream:

Hallais! That's a great start and fun idea! I agree that you need more composition
tweak to make it work! Anyways, I wish you good luck!

Squib- haha XD
Zapan- Thank you :)
pluMmet- hehe, I have to confess I'm rather fachinated by bugs, particularly beatles :)
Funny little round bugs, they are
Jan-Mark- Thank you :). Heh, that's right. They don't exactly got much to do- I Got it! a rescue mission! Not sure that'll go as a journey though
Sergio- Thank you :)
varma- Takker :)

I what to make it whit a perspective I really can't handle in 2D, and for this concept I'm going whit frog perspective, or seen from bellow, if you what.
What we see here is a spider that has captured a beautiful moth, or maybe another bug, and a beetle who is going to rescue her. The spider is going up trough a spiky bush of some sort. This is where his journey begins.

A little devil, or a monster, finds a stairway to the upper world and decides to venture up to see how it looks.

hi valentina ,

both concepts are looking good. i like the devil one most :D maybe u can make his expression evil looking and plotting something bad:D

Gremlin
03-09-2006, 04:04 PM
wow, we think similarly--I was thinking of something similar; some childish devil-like characters that essentially must trek through heaven to get back home (to hell) but you're idea is decently similar to mine! :argh:

I think this devil sketch/concept is definately one to brainstorm some more on!

Cool concepts tho, but 'devil's' my favourit!

luigithekid
03-09-2006, 04:44 PM
Yes, somehow the devils concept seems more like a journey thing.
And his expressio should definitely be an evilish one...

The ideia is very cool!
but the stair cold be to larger!

Gremlin- Oi thats sort of scary, hope you won't mind if I go whit it though... I really liked it aswell
Michael- Thank you :)
luigithekid- Thanks :)
Raul- Thanks. I'm going to make the steps a little smaller, might make it a little borader aswell :)
Vedic- Thanks

A more detailed sketch of the devil.
I want his wings to be too small for him to use them, so he will have to walk all the way. He is still growing after all :)
I also want to have his throat glowing, and his tongue to be black or really dark blue or purple.

one cute little devil... and perfect touch with those tiny wings...

I'm for your last idea too -loving your little devil design! -And its an unusual idea!

Wintermute
03-11-2006, 06:33 PM
I like the little devil concept too!

from your initial sketch, I got the feeling that he was sneaking out of hell, sort of looking around to make sure nobody is watching–like a child sneaking a cookie out of a cookie jar while his parents aren't watching :D

Modeling in process :)

I started whit a Polygon sphere for the belly, and move some of the top vertexes to start on the torso. I extrude so I have pretty much enough divisions. I extruded the tail, but could not make the tip of the tail, so I made a polygon cone, modified it to look like I wanted and connected it to the rest of the body.
I Made a NURBS sphere as a temporary eye so I could make the eye lids.

Hello Valentina! You probably don't know me, but I know you (Ok, that sounded a little creepy . . . oh well). Actually, I've only just seen some of your great 2D work from bouncing around on the forums.

Anywho, I guess I'm not the first one that didn't know that you were into 3D. A true artist you are :)

I'm glad you went with the lil' fellah . . . he looks great. I can't wait to see how this turns out, so I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on this.
P.S. Did I mention that I like the lil' fellah . . . . because I really like the lil' fellah
