another concept sketch before i head off to school. had an idea about a dragon and his rider (anne mccaffrey inspiration possibly??) before a journey. I think a more personable scene may be best if i go with this idea

On the Dragon suggestion, Michael Whelan did alot of the Anne covers, and alot of his were characters in repose. Maybe you could emulate the same feel but go for a moving piece, in flight. Maybe even having the feeling your riding with the rider from the viewers point of view.

ok, so no one said this had to be a rather happy journey beginning. I'm thinking of doing an extreme perspective (not shown here) from hell that shows lucifer being dragged into hell by ropes of flame...gates of heaven as backdrop, maybe gabriel or something there? who knows, but i really like the concept so far

OK, so i'm working more on the composition for this shot, I really like the idea of seeing lucifer's journey to hell. I need to do a little bit of research, probably wouldnt hurt :P But composition tips would be great, i know its really rough. I"m gonna start working on the line art soon. thanks!

I like the idea! My first idea was a bit similar, but I like the way you've portrayed it as someone about to fall off a cliff (as far as I can tell from you sketch).
About the composition I can't really help you. The sketch seems a bit too rough for me to give any suggestions...
But I'll follow your progress and see if I can contribute with something later...
Looking good, keep it up!
Hey nice composition,
I really like the perspective and the depth that you've planned in just the preliminary strokes. Theres very little information about what you want to achive in this piece but guessing from your post I think its lucifers fall.
giving personality to the character and expression of that fall would be the real challenge, there is some sort of light above and skies that ar ok but a little plane for a piece. You really should look for something to place in the mid-ground of the image since you have 2 very powerful subjects in the forground and background.
What I mean is there a battle in the sky is he falling down past some cliffs full of broken rocks? Something to enrichen the narrative of the image.
Keep up the work. I'm mostly going on suppposing what you'll do with this piece I'll send you more specific feed back when you post again.

Starting to define everything a bit. I found a pose I like for lucifer, but i need to push it a little bit, and give him a little bit more mass and definition. I'm thinking burning wings and feathers in or around the image. A circular composition seems fitting, but still undecided. I need to work on making heaven seem a bit smaller, and add the flames that are dragging him down. maybe working souls into the effort as well? slow updates cuz i'm building a pc, but hopefully it will speed up soon.
