Hi guys. This subject appears to be pretty much straight ahead. Im mean easy to do.
But I cant find a way to achieve that. I got all layers ready rendered from max 8.

Is there a few steps that you can show me?

I will really appreciate that.
Thank you

Soo..... how long would it take you to re-render?

If you want to proceed.

In Combustion, load the RPF file into your timeline and apply the operator:

3d Post -> 3d Depth of Field

Select your close and far focal planes, and a radius to blur.

Going back to the first sentence though. It would be *Best* if you used render layers and rendered out foreground/background/mid elements seperately. The problem is Post DOF can't create background data, so if you say, blur out a foreground sign post, it'll just look wrong. Also there are problems with high contrast areas. The edge of your in focus objects will actually appear to have a glow around them. There are a number of situations where this process will work just fine, so maybe you're ok.

To outline all of the problems with Post DOF on a single frame, I would need at least an hour. However, if it ends up being a problem for you, I'm sure you'll see it pretty quick.

You could also use the poor man's 3D DOF. In Max map your rendered footage to all objects. Set the Mapping to Screen. Set the material to 100% self illuminated. Disable all lighting, shadows, etc. Render. This will basically project the final composite onto your 3d models and use the DOF options available in Max.

Another option would be to generate a zdepth pass and use that in the Gbuffer Builder and then try the RPF DOF or a Compound Channel Blur.
