another idea.
A small robot with a backpack, entering a vast labyrinth..
hmm,. maybe the first one was better,.

makaron
03-02-2006, 12:13 AM
I like the first a tiny bit better. Why? hmmm... seems to have more "stronger image" to it... haha. its to late to give smart answers now... :bounce:

Hey danny,

how about placing a gigantic junkyard into the background... something your robot hast to accomplish. Just a humble thought  Great sketches... keep going!

Hmmm, yeah, i think you'r right,.
maybe a combination of the two...

Hey danny,

how about placing a gigantic junkyard into the background... something your robot hast to accomplish. Just a humble thought  Great sketches... keep going!

Not a bad idea:thumbsup:
i had been thinking about a plazza i the middle of the labyrinth with some sparepart shop, but that might be a bit far out.

-
I think I will go with a combination of the two sketches forground from the first and the labyrinth from the last and the widescreen format, more robots, more rats, more robo treehouses,.

dannyfalch

Hmm,. as i made this sketch i found out that this is way to cheesy to me.
just too happy, happy, joy, joy and too toonish,.
I think I'll go with the idea thogh, but with a more sci-fi SW'ish style to the robots, I don't want it to look too Disney/Pixar but a bit more rough.
theese small robots don't know why they exist and the have heard about humans, and now they want to meet the creator of their kind, so a team is send out to on a long journey, to see if they realy exist and if they are the only one of their kind.
low-fi robots in high-fi environment ewok style.

hmm,. I know this is a very fast done sketch, bu i just want to illustrate what i want to do with the robots.

just a lot of components that everybody knows the size of, to give the robot scale and a bit more less cheesyness.

03-07-2006, 02:35 AM
hmm, danny, do you think the "journey" - theme and story is enough clear on sketch nr. 3 without any description ? maybe it isn't necessary.

Thanks Stephane

Yeah I'll go with the last one, but as i was finishing the sketch the robot just looked too "robots" like, so I'll change them into something else, more rough i think.

Yup - agree with the rest here - the last sketch and the style for your robots can make a really interesting contrast. The monitor face for the robot is a nice touch

Yep, I'll go with the last environment and sketch a bit more on the new robodesign.

The monitor face gives a new dimenstion.. :bounce:

not the usal, hi im the happy/angry robotlook... me like that :)

Thanks Mona

Yeah I was hoping to create a robot that could show expresion on the "facemonitor" rather than the good old toonish robo style..
I'll just work a bit more on the concept for the robots.

a bit more work on the robot,..
Now no more doodeling on to modeling!!

this robot and the sci-fi ewokish robo treecity,. Zion, he he.

OK, As it has become tradition for me in the challange, I have to break something apart to shoot photos of the good stuff. some might remember the flower from the last challange,...
OK, this time it's my son's radiocontroled car that was sacrificed in the name of ref material. Some might also remember that my girfriend left me during the last challange, so my son is not here this week, i will ofcause replace the car before he notises,. hopefully he never see this thread it might be traumatic for him.

well, all for the challange...

more photos to come..

Hi boss,

iam really enjoying your progress so far, but ive seen youve modelling robots before, so iam looking forward to the Rat that you are going to make. Fur and expressions are some things that gonna make the Rat pop out.

Also your texturing is always a nice thing to follow, I know you can do it...

Shes like butter!

Cheers mate...

I think the grill would work better on the back. You could put a transparent glass in the front so we can see his skeleton and the grill system on the back.

Good luck :)

Hi Lemog!
Thanks, and yeah, It's a full dayjob to keep up with all in the challange, he he.
sorry about the red car, i was dead before the disection,.
My son is turning two years on the 30th this month and thanks! yep wonderfull son!

I'll get on with more polys...

He he,. thanks,. a walking microwave..

great stuff Danny-give us more!!

Thanks again Shakes,. still on it,.

the grill kindof bothers me, since everything is really small, the grill would be _REALLY_ small to fit on the robot...

Yeah wll, I want to give it some extra depth by adding som ekind of transperantsy to the chest, in think the best and most natural to do that was a thin metal thread grill i a plastic frame,. yeah it's reallt small,. he he

I think the grill would work better on the back. You could put a transparent glass in the front so we can see his skeleton and the grill system on the back.

Good luck :)

Hi Elentor
Yeah, that might work as well, but i think i'll give him a small battery backback for the journey in sted, thanks for the idea though,.
the idea is that the grill is the only difference between male and female,
female grill later..

Yes!!! :bounce: How are you Danny? I love this theme and you've a good start my friend. I'm waiting for more.

Hello Danny !

Nice to see you entering, and very cool concept. What is it with you and robots btw?

I like the idea that the robot's are builded by small components, is they as tiny as mouses? The sketch and the robot are very simular, very nicely done.

No critic just a message to say hi really  Keep it up.

mp7 players... Hehehehe... Thanks for revealing. Are you involved in the project, or just testing?

Regarding the batteries and A51, I`m "afraid" they will be from China :D [Not to offend the Chinese-just noticing some changes of our good old world...;]

And coming to the project itself, I really like your idea. But I`m afraid it will be really difficult to show the aim of their trip-to find their own creators. The image should explain everything w/o the underlying story, or I`m wrong...

I remember you`ve mentioned you wanted the robots look a bit low-tech. The modeled one doesn`t. Have you changed your mind? If not-a well-rounded, Spectrum-style green monitor could do the job, I think. Just an idea...

Good luck...
