Here is the basic block sketch of my idea. Probably overdone, but a spaceman and his ship. Just wanted to get my idea down so I could start fleshing it out.

Did some work on the main character's head. Not sure I'm thrilled with it yet, but then again, I'm not sure how much of the face will be in the final image.

Perhaps you should work on composition first. That let you know how big and accurate elements should be.

Yes, I need to work out a better idea of what angle the final shot will be. But anyway, I know I at least need a face :)

Began work on the scene layout. Will replace the stand in objects later. I'm trying to get a better feel for how the concept will work to know what to spend my time working on the most.

Also, I'm trying to use linked data from other files into my main scene file to see how that workflow works for me.

Well, it all started as a bad day and has now gotten worse. I had my project on a thumb drive because I was working on it on several computers and now my drive is lost. I put it in my pocket on the way to work this morning and it is nowhere to be found...I guess its back to the drawing board.

Good thing there is a lot of time left. :rolleyes:

Well after determining that my thumbdrive is indeed missing and reviewing what I had done so far, I decided to start over with a new concept since mine was somewhat lame. So here is my new idea, I decided to do something a bit more humorous... A strange rodent who had built his own walking machine...

Some more work on the character with a little bit of a pose. I think that I will have him out of control of this little robot to show that he has a long journey ahead of him cause he has no idea what he is doing :)

Another blender user and coder too! I think you could also have his hair desheveled when your modeling it. The mech could use quite a bit more detail. You might want to use trash cans and refuse for the parts, since I don't think a rodent would have access to top notch parts. Also when your lighting it, try to avoid dual shadows. I like the concept!

Yeah, everything is kind of at a low level of detail ATM. I plan of having the mech look pretty dinged up. As for the shadows...yeah there is that :) Thanks for the feedback.

Damn man sorry to hear about the hard drive!

However, I do like the new scene better.:thumbsup: Mech modelling is looking good, but you have many flat shapes (eg the legs are completely straight down the side facing the camera). Maybe break it up a bit by adding indentations, servos, gears, wires, grates, etc?

Some detail work on the walker. I decided not to go with a "trash mech" idea. But in the end it will hopefully still look dirty.

I think his neck is a tad long and that he could use a smaller body. Plus a bigger head. Also for texturing I would think he would be darker tan colored. Otherwise the pose is areally cool and natural looking!
