03-01-2006, 05:21 PM
Well i think this is my concept for this challenge, i´m planning to make a cartoonish image for this project, some little monsters starting the long long journey from the tetric castle to the coooool super adventure park EuroDazzney (trademark for sure) heheh.
Hope you like the idea.
03-01-2006, 05:43 PM
ya! glad to see ya here! man, concept look cool and answer the theme very well , some thought is maybe you can find more dynamic camera angle , hehe still have a lot of time for experiment ! goodluck man!
03-01-2006, 05:50 PM
It is good to see you in the challenge again and your idea looks interesting so far. Look forward to your wip's on this.
03-01-2006, 06:11 PM
Hi ilusiondigital, nice concept u got there.
I m watching man..have fun
03-01-2006, 06:12 PM
curious to see what this will be?
03-02-2006, 05:31 PM
I start the modeling of the freaks car, still in a very wip stage, but i think its cool for the scene
03-02-2006, 05:35 PM
Cool concept, I agree with monsit you need another angle, (a wormeye view perhaps?)
03-02-2006, 05:39 PM
Hey, Monsit thanks for your words, mate. Yep i think i have enought time to make test, but if you give ideas are welcomed heheh.
Mmoir, ya man, thanks i´ll put my eyes at your thread thumbs up
Micro26: Thanks MrM, yep i think is the most important thing having 3dfun, the same for you my friend

03-04-2006, 12:01 PM
03-04-2006, 12:28 PM
You will need very detailed terrain to pull this off. Keep going and good journey!:)
03-04-2006, 01:32 PM
hi ilusiondigital!! nice idea, but you need to do your modeling more clearly. Good luck! :buttrock:
03-04-2006, 03:22 PM
Concept looks a bit wacky, in a good way. I think the visual style will really help this piece stand out:thumbsup: (eg organic wheels, strange, but cool!). The concept is full of movement and slanted lines which should work really well with the style.
You might need to put more background in however, the finished piece might look a bit empty back there from the current concept.
Nice start to the modelling, keep it up!
03-04-2006, 08:15 PM
burpy: Yep, i need i will need tons of work (and hours) for make a huge background (i think i willl make an original terrain)
vincent1: Yes, mate, more or less i have the idea of the background, but need to make some test.
Thanks for the replies
03-04-2006, 08:25 PM
Oh Yeah! Your ride is far more stylin' than mine! And those Ben-Hur hubcaps! I dare a dog to lift a leg on your wheels!
03-06-2006, 08:59 PM
glenn23: Hehehe, yep Glenn, i need to make some romans and a few lions, hehehe. A great pleasure to see you here, take care my friend
S+ein: In first place sorry my friend, i dont´s see your post til today, i dont´s think i need a more detailed car, it´s a car cartoon, and with good textures it will be ok, i think at least. But still it´s a wip, thanks for your crit, buddy
03-06-2006, 09:13 PM
Testing material, lights, camera view and textures over the car
03-06-2006, 09:42 PM
nice concept i,m looking for more
03-07-2006, 02:34 PM
Very funny scene. I like it. The same for the car. It's a funny one. Good luck
03-08-2006, 01:13 PM
For the nails, que carro más "monstruoso"!
Nice wip & nice idea. Good luck!!!
03-11-2006, 09:06 PM
dgrauers: Mr Grauers, what a infinite pleasure, glad to see you again, i´m interesting about your concept my friend. Hugs, buddy

03-11-2006, 09:10 PM
Another lit test, and a question... it´s this a better camera angle????
03-13-2006, 08:32 PM
Modeling one of the main characters, the headless
03-13-2006, 08:43 PM
The car has a lot of character. it reminds me of Grease a bit. Your style, combined with your concept will make a very enjoyable final image. I am looking forward for the rest of the characters.
03-14-2006, 09:11 AM
excellent designs ! And simple but I love it really. The headless is just perfect. I would just say maybe the bone a little bigger. And then 3 fingers or four I don't really know.
Great work
03-15-2006, 03:02 PM
Thats a cool concept friend:) . Excellent design amd models looks great:thumbsup: especially the car model. Keep going dude and all the best for this challenge:beer:
03-17-2006, 08:10 PM
madshooter: My dear friend, thanks for your always inspiring friendly words, you´re the best mate

a-papantoniou: Heyyy Myth, thanks Antoniu, i hope to make cool and funny li´l monstah =)))
03-18-2006, 10:48 AM
Texturing the main character (the headless) i delete the neck bone too
03-18-2006, 07:46 PM
Testing the shading and lights, i think this is the final illumination, and i put the main character posed too.
Crits are welcomed
03-19-2006, 12:28 PM
Looks awesome:thumbsup: the glass seems to be burning too much, maybe you will fix that later.
More updates please:bounce:
03-19-2006, 10:48 PM
hello friend :D nice modeling, i like the car :D good luck
un abrazooo tio :D
03-20-2006, 10:24 AM
I think the picture is a little to overcontrasted (light too strong maybe).
I really like your design but I would have find the picture more funny without the head at his foot. JUst simple man without head.
03-20-2006, 07:06 PM
Modeling the bat-vampire, i start the modeling in zbrush with zspheres and then import to max and tweaking, i will export to zbrush again to make the tex and some details (few, because it´s a cartoon style and don´t want to do something too realistic =P)
03-28-2006, 04:01 PM
Starting the modeling of the city props
03-28-2006, 04:51 PM
Oh - I haven't been around for some time and lot's of things happening here! I really like that headless character - so funny
And the car is really cute - this is going great!
03-29-2006, 05:49 PM
Thanks my dear Gun for your always warm words.
Lot of hugs
03-29-2006, 07:59 PM
Hey Victor... I've just discover today your participation in this new challenge... good news then...
Your project is very original... much fun here... your character with the car make me feel a little to Wallace and Gromit... but here, it's with your nice touches... best of luck for you my friend... and continue in your good way
04-09-2006, 11:33 AM
My dear friend L.A, thanks for the waord Lemog. Hope you like this update.
Hugs from Spain
04-15-2006, 08:35 PM
An updated od the scene textures (put some trees too)
04-16-2006, 12:29 AM
Is that a map he's not looking at? They are going to be so lost!
Reminds me of my wife looking at a map. She looks but...
But then I refuse to ask for directions.
04-16-2006, 08:51 AM
This is looking really good. There's such a strong sense of realism, it almost looks like a stopmotion set photo.
I keep expecting them to start moving around.
04-21-2006, 09:16 PM
heya my friend !
here you too :D
cool work so far ! keep it up and good luck
04-22-2006, 01:54 PM
Adding more characters
04-22-2006, 02:00 PM
Thanks for the replies my dear friends:
Glenn: Yep, friend, i have the same problem with my wife, hehehe, but i love to answer hehehe
Womgoose: A very good compliment, other people says the same, it´s an honour to hear that, thanks
drummer: Drum, drum drumer, heeeeyaaaaa my dear friend, how are you buddy??? Long time for sure, i hope we can resolve that, huuuugs
Lot of hugs 4 all, and thanks
05-02-2006, 12:04 PM
Yep Victor, your texturing is really sweet and clean... just take care with the contrast between different pieces... maybe that can be harder to read the picture... or maybe harder shadows can help you... as spanish shadows...
Good continuation in your way mate
05-02-2006, 03:25 PM
A almost finished image, nned to work in the back street, and some details more.
Thanks Lem for your always nice and friendly suggestions, I hope you like this spanish shadows heheheh
05-02-2006, 04:00 PM
the point of view is great. feelings also. like the birds.
To crit a little :
I would say that the hand of the main character is not really readable. Indeed the white part of his arm is on the white part of a house and the brown part of his hand is on the dark car. MAybe play with lighting or maybe make another pose (he could read the maps, sitting on his case)
I think you could work more his little friend at the front of the car. I'm sure you can do better :D
There 's a wallace and gromit feel in your picture. really interessant. Godd luck
05-03-2006, 08:53 AM
Nice cartoony scene. :bounce:
05-03-2006, 09:03 AM
This kind of lighting is of course better, but as Vincent said, It's always a bit difficult to read... certainly the subject more in the foreground... really contrasted, with a large focal to increase the perspective, a DOF and a background less contrasted can help you...
...take care with the 2 light street exactly at the frame border... it's a bit disturbing... you can trick a little... the one of right with only the bulb visible... and the one of left more in the frame, more visible...
...that come mate
05-11-2006, 08:43 PM
Really cool!!! He's looking for his head?
05-12-2006, 09:56 PM
Suggestions and crits are welcomed
05-12-2006, 10:37 PM
Yes I know, I often crit. Why you ? Because I love your picture so :
I really like the new car. very good.
But I don't understand the pose of your character. What is he doing ? call for a taxi, walk ?? Make it more clear. moreover the old car behing cut a little the silhouette of your character. More contrast onthe character maybe or just put off the car.
If the new car is the one of the guy, maybe open door or backdoor (coffre?) to suggest what he will do of his case.
05-13-2006, 09:24 AM
Vincent, thanks you are one of my great inspiration for this challenge, and love your suggestions, are so usefull for me.
I tell you 2 thinks, i need to model some parts of the new car, yes, you have the reason, it´s a taxi and the headless is calling it =)))
And i´m trying to put a light between the character and the old car for separate the headless from the background
I´m waiting your news suggestions my friend
05-13-2006, 09:33 AM
simovici: Thanks a lot mate
Lemog: Your crits are helping me again =)))), many thanks Nut nut
dogmatico: Yep, the mystery of the hidden head heheheh, thanks
Thanks 4 viewing
05-13-2006, 10:40 AM
very nice style!
best of luck to you in this challenge!
05-13-2006, 05:59 PM
Ahhh, this is just getting better and better! Is his head in the bag? So funny... and I really like the bleached colors you use for it - very nice style
05-14-2006, 09:32 AM
This is just excellent !
The modeling is great but texturing and lighting is amazing !
It looks like some kind of stop motion short in clay !
great,just great !
05-14-2006, 09:53 AM
Nice work. Reminds me of the street from monsters inc.
05-15-2006, 04:10 PM
InTerceptoV: Yep, pixar is an incredible inspiration for me, thanks for your words
gpepper: Thanks buddy, i´m trying to make a clay feel like the aardman studio (flushed away), i hope to make a good final image
Gunilla: Thanks honey, i´m thinking to put the head in an almost hidden place hehehe
coochaki: The best for you too friend, very glad you liked
05-15-2006, 07:00 PM
the barber shop (yep i know is not an impressive modeling but is for the background) heheheh
05-16-2006, 09:53 AM
What do you think bout this camera view?
05-16-2006, 08:10 PM
newspaper vending machine
05-17-2006, 12:31 PM
Very strange place (town) you have created here. And I like it so much.
05-17-2006, 12:52 PM
The new angle is really better... and the newpaper box a very good idea... continue like that Victor... good way...
05-17-2006, 03:55 PM
simovici and lemog: Thanks a lot, i´m proud you like the image, many many thanks =)))
05-17-2006, 05:34 PM
Another character more, the "phantasmiko"
05-18-2006, 04:09 PM
divertida la idea y muy bien lograda al imagen. Me gusta la transparencia "fantasmal" del fantasmita.
Por si acaso, aunque no lo considero importante, creo que la noticia del periódico debería ser freaks strike (sin la última "s").
05-18-2006, 04:18 PM
Hahaha... very good the "Fantasmiko"... con que sabor ? :scream:
05-19-2006, 12:31 PM
fer3d: Me alegra que te guste Fer, la verdad es que me lo dijeron despues de hacerlo (mi lexico ingles no es muy boyante hehehe) a ver si tengo un momento y lo rectifico, un saludo y gracias
Nut nut: ehehehhahahaha what ca i say Lem, i can´t believe you know the fantasmikos ahahahahaa, i think it´s a lemmon phantom hahaha
05-19-2006, 05:29 PM
render passes and final composition in PS
05-22-2006, 12:06 AM
Keep dreaming, it looks great!
05-22-2006, 01:19 AM
Hi Victor...every thing looks cool...what seems a bit bizzare to me is only that i think u can make a bit better use of your occlusion pass render in your composition. I hope i make sence...Cool stuff. :)
05-22-2006, 06:15 AM
Maybe it's only due to the little size of the pic, but I think like Dimi about your occlusion pass... this pass appear very rich and interesting, but the final result seem less good than the basic rendering... but I repeat myself, it's a first feeling because the picture posted is small... I hope you understand my thought... come on Victor... near to be finished
05-22-2006, 08:00 AM
very good work, looks like they are about to move
Keep it up...:)
05-22-2006, 04:15 PM
Micro26: Hahah, glad you liked man, yep, i want to do an scene (like a frame of a film) not a static image
Lemog: I think you need to see the final image, i agree with you, in the almost thumbnail appears a little bit flat
DimitrisLiatsos: Hey Dim, my friend. Thanks for the compliments, still working in the final image, but i hope to do a good image =))
mazur: What can i say, my dear friend, thaaaaanks Bas!!
Thanks for viewing and good luck 4 all
05-22-2006, 05:37 PM
Lemog: I think you need to see the final image...
I'm okay with you... I must  !
05-22-2006, 06:04 PM
What do you think about this??
05-22-2006, 06:11 PM
Raflection on car.... hmmm...
05-22-2006, 06:41 PM
 hummmmmm hummmmm, in wich car????
05-22-2006, 06:51 PM
Looking good! What blend mode are you using for adding the AO pass? The reason I ask is that the result looks a little washed out. You might want to try adjusting the levels or using "multiply/soft light" for your layer blend mode to bring out some of the great shadows and lighting. Keep it up!
05-22-2006, 08:30 PM
 hummmmmm hummmmm, in wich car????
Yellow car. Crazy http://www.pcinfo.com.ru/phpBB2/images/smiles/crazy.gif reflection in front glass.
05-23-2006, 10:50 AM
stormnight: Totally agree with you, crazy crazy reflection hehehe
safe05: If i can be honest i can´t remen¡mber, one pass of occlusion in multuply mode and another one in soft light, but i´m not sure, you know tons of test i did and the final images is with the layer accoplied
Here´s the almost finished hi-res version
05-23-2006, 10:59 AM
I have to agree on the washed out feeling. You have shadows that indicate the lighting is not bright hot high noon, yet the over feel of the scene is that you are under a blazing bright noon sun. Honestly, I think Dimi and lemog's first assessment is correct, your original render has a richer lighting and feel.
05-23-2006, 11:54 AM
Same feeling about the washed tones... maybe you can arrange that in photoshop... whille keeping this kind of sweet tones for the background, and to contrast more the foreground's subjects...
Check you PM...
05-23-2006, 09:59 PM
MT Cup: I agree with you, i still making test
Lemog: I´ll try to do it, thanks for the incredible support
Thanks thanks =))
05-24-2006, 01:17 AM
I really want you to pull this off. Your characters and scene are just so crazy and cool. I just love your headless dude.
05-24-2006, 02:12 AM
I've definitely lost track of layers myself. :) Here's a pic showing what I was referring to. (sorry for modifying your images) The bottom image has the AO pass multiplied at 20% and has another copy of that same AO layer applied at 80% but it was also tinted brown. Also, the depth map was slapped on with a "soft light" mode to brighting the foreground and dim the background a little. I'm not suggesting your image should look like this, but just wanted to show how the shadows can still survive while keeping all the great work you've already done. Keep up the great work! :)
05-24-2006, 04:36 AM
I dunno how I missed this one! Love the headless guy and the cartoony style combined with realism.
05-24-2006, 06:16 PM
Womball: Thanks for your words, are a gift for my ears =)))))
safe05: No my friend, it´s a pleasure see your test =), thanks, i think today i will submit my final image, i have headache with this image hehehe
MT Cup: I´m so happy for this, thanks for the compliments
05-24-2006, 08:38 PM
My good friend...very nice image.
Have good luck!!
your best friend.
05-25-2006, 07:38 AM
I like the tweaked image. In fact i like the entire concept.
I would change the transparency of the ghost. I would increase the transparency of it.
05-25-2006, 09:27 AM
Use your brain and run to the lonhest journey never started, says the headless man called “Jonah”. With no car, no ship, no... noooo TAXI TAXI, screams Jonah. I need to go to Fearland!!!
Fearlansd 10,000 km but it´s the most incredible adventure park, with tons of games to make the stupid humans scream till dawn.
I think this will a greatjourney with the best place for my lonely golden hollidays.
Alone for few “days” (I supose) my wife (the barbed hump woman), is now with our 4 freaks in another terrific park.... EUROJOBLAND (of TAX Enterprises), I love my chidrens, Greg the Insane, Gary the horned, Trycia the three headed and my favourite, Manoloh keeper of the blasphemy and the headless junior (it´s pretty his NoHead).
Well, now it´s time for me...... now my JOURNEY BEGINS.
PS: Will be cold?? Shit!! I forgot my hat
END OF HISTORY
I want to give tons of thanks to all the people that help me in this wonderfull challenge, overall my dear french friend Lemog, thanks dude, you are the best.
Good luck for all the good CGtalkers
05-25-2006, 11:10 AM
Alex!! my best friend, thanks for your kindly words, 100000 hugs hehehe ciaoooo bambinoooo
simovici: Totally agree with you Simo, but i think it´s too late, today i submited my final image, a great new for me, because i´m hating this scene, hehehehehe, bad for my heart and brain
05-25-2006, 02:32 PM
Hey, Victor, Don't hate the scene. It is fantastic!!! I love your style, is very diferent and very very cool! A lot of beautiful details! Congratulations!
