I'm modeling this girl in Maya in subd-surf (started in poly then converted). I still have to do a little work, but I would like to have opinions. I've not attached the two halves yet, so there is a seam in the middle, I'll remove it later :)

Yep, you're right! The top of the nose and the forehead were "strange". I pushed back them and I rounded the forehead making her profile mor natural and equilibrated.
Now I like much her, I hope you too :D

IS IT YOU ?? :wip:

I think after first texturing it will start to rock..

Looks like Anjolina Jolie to me...But then...everyone has to model her sometime... :D

It looks to me as though you are using photo reference. Be mindful of the 3/4 view. Get a bunch of 3/4 shots of your subject and really analize the differences. It's looking like a good start, but the proportions are still off in many places.

Keep up the good work, as I think if you continue to hone the forms, this will be a great model.

HeHeHeHe Yep, I used Angelina's photo as reference :D. But I don't want "my girl" identical to Angelina :D. I used her photo just to have a very nice girl as reference (of course they have something in common).
Where do you think I should take care of proportions?

Tnx for the comment :D

Very nice Head you've got there, I like it.

By the way, Could you show us the reference ? Isn't it that photo from www.fineart.sk where is showed left, front and right photos of Angelina Jolie ? :D

We Want more Updates ! Good Luck !

Yep of course... here them are!
I want to specify I don't want her identical to Angelina :D... (and I think I'm not so good in doing it). I also think this reference isn't so good because not everything correspond, maybe the photo you mean is better.

Yes, This Photo is not very correct. I my self some time ago wanted to model Angelina Jolie (I like Her :D) And I took this photo, But in the modeling process I realized that it's not so correct, So I made a Reference myself....
I was talking about this photo:

I don't want to pride on this one, couse it also has some uncorrections, but I think it's a little more better :D

Good Luck !

Here is the wireframe! Notice that the high-rez version is old, I've changed a lot of things after that, but now I converted it in subd. I know it's not the best wireframe but... :D

Here is a new version of the poly proxy wireframe (highrez) of the model.

I've started working on textures. Here are two shots, there are just color and bump maps. I haven't used photos, I've done all the texturing work in The Gimp.

The nostrils need a bit of care ;)

Oh, dude, eyes are WAY too far apart. Remember that the canon of the human head dictates that the eyes should be one eye width apart, with an eye width between the outside of the eye and the outside of the skull.

give that a try real quick and see what you think...

Here is another update. I started tweaking specular maps. I still plan to add translucency...

I used a layered approach, by now three layers, one for the base diffusion, one for the specularity and another for the oil of the skin and general wet. :) I also used a lot of facing ratio!!
Realistic skin is always hard to do :( !!

I notice nobody posts to this thread :annoyed:
However I'll continue my work :D

This is the last rendering of my first head, I still have to tweak eyelashes and I have to do her hair (I'm using paint fx). I already have a pic with hair, but I don't post it because she seems just out of a cancer :D

She seems a still a little "plastic" to me, but I'll tweak more and more :D

I don't know why, but I Like it :D

You need to fix that nose, But The Lips are really good, I like the reflection on them. And the Eyes - The same, Cool Reflection....

Good Luck !

LordGolem

What's you don't like in the nose?

The reflection is a panorama picture I found somewhere, but maybe the reflection you mean is due to the specular highlight of the area light I used for this rendering ;)

Ramzes_II

Yes, I ment the Specularity....

About the nose, I think you should do Some Nostrils, couse I nearly see them :D And The nose line looks Really too Straight...But I like your pic anyways...For a First head, It is just Wonderful !

Good Luck !

So since this is your first head(female), you've gotten plenty of head(male)?

LordGolem
12-21-2002, 03:13 PM
Nono, first human head ever!
I've modeled just non uman creatures... I like much creatures because there's more fantasy involved in them and also if I want a human I can just make a photo to a real one :)
But also I think humans are much hard to do, you have to respect a lot of proportions keeping it natural, and if something isn't perfect you immediately notice it (because we know humans very well, we see them everyday  ).

i think u should soften the jaw line a lil bit, she looks a little too butch:D
