Well i decided to go for a greek mythology style this time. My idea so far is to do a group of explorers waiting in port, getting ready to head out into the full sea on a quest (still deciding on the type of quest).
The rest of the crew are saying goodbye to their familly and friends not knowing when they'll return....oh yeah and i'd like to throw in a vision of where their journey will lead them, maybe I'll throw in a cyclops & hydra somewhere....still deciding on the format of the pic though (ratio & size)
02-28-2006, 10:04 PM
Ready to overheat the ol' PC again greg......Thats the only way to fly.....;)
I'll check in best I can, best of luck to you, have fun and kick all polys hard....;)
02-28-2006, 10:15 PM
Thanks for the posts guys and keeping me motivated :)
Oh yeah and i'd like to make it that the world is flat :D sorta like water flowing off the edges just have to think of a camera view that will show all of this....too much going through my head at the moment
I'm sure the ideas will form into a nice image once i sleep on it.

03-10-2006, 09:05 AM
Sorry for the delay guys n galls, still having some final stuff done to my leg after the operation so its was really hard to concentrate on the challenge, if all goes well I'll be back in action within 2 hours and hopefully will start posting. I've done several concepts but am still searching for something that would make me happy.
Cya all in a bit :D
03-10-2006, 01:55 PM
Been having a bad week for 2d so i decided to go with a 3d concept,.
The main character have just found a working military holo-map with the coordinates for an area untouched by the 3rd world war. So their journey to eden begins.
03-10-2006, 10:53 PM
Hopefully by tomorrow this chap will start looking human. Most of the major edge loops are in place and now its time to start pushing verts :D
03-11-2006, 11:45 AM
An update on the face. Looking more human I hope. Still lots to do, gotta do battle with the ears soon :/
03-11-2006, 11:51 AM
letīs see some ears on that head that beginning to look good :)
03-11-2006, 05:09 PM
Modelling update. Added in modeled eyes and a start on the ears and neck.
03-11-2006, 05:37 PM
Hey Greg, it's looking good! Nice to see some modelling :D looking forward for updates!
03-11-2006, 05:54 PM
Heyaaa!!! Off to a killer start I see Greg:thumbsup: Good luck mate, How's the medieval torture device going? Speaking of torture... would you believe I'm now learning Max:surprised I'm gonna 50/50 the challenge Maya/Max...
I'll be definitely hanging here to see what wonders pop outta your machine this time:bounce:
03-11-2006, 06:46 PM
Thx for the cheers Elsie :D I'll do my best to keep em coming on a regular basis
If it isn't my imaginary friend :D Looks like you'll have a large mountain to climb then...use max only for rendering cuz it's crashtastic :D
Medieval torture device was removed a day ago. Getting used to the comfort of being 3 kg lighter :scream: Back to crutches though for a while..
03-11-2006, 06:50 PM
Great story behind the image. Quick question: What's the object behind the vehicle?
03-11-2006, 07:04 PM
They'll be ruined skyscrappers, I might add in parts of a military base around them later on as well (to show where the map was found)
Hopefully I'll get a mix of fallout & mad max in the end :)
03-11-2006, 10:38 PM
Slowly boxing out some muscle groups. I'll stick to the arms and some of the torso for now. He's going to be wearing a shirt or light body armour so I the rest won't be really that visible.
03-12-2006, 01:44 AM
nice progress man! model look great too! good luck!
03-12-2006, 11:07 AM
Thanks for the encouragement monsitj. Hopefully he's be done to the waist by tomorrow :)
From then on cloth modelling
03-12-2006, 06:42 PM
Had a slow day but I'm finally getting past the more time consuming areas of the model. The next ones will be done a lot fastr once the base model is fully finished.
03-14-2006, 09:05 PM
Hey there Gregory, it is great seeing you're able to begin work for the challenge! Excellent job on the base model, he is really taking shape! I am sorry to hear your leg has given you so much grief.
03-14-2006, 10:20 PM
A rather slow week so far. Here's an update on the body mesh. Still lots of edge loops to fix but the main shape is there...
03-14-2006, 10:25 PM
Hi Matt :)
I'll be speeding up soon. Just need to tidy up the mesh a bit. Had quite a long break from 3d so I need to remind myself some stuff. Wo'nt be going into too much body details, most will be covered in clothes so it's just a place holder really. Just have to fix the arms they're annoying the hell out of me :D
Oh yeah and the leg is healing nicely, back to crutches but I should be running around within a month if all goes well :D
03-16-2006, 03:44 PM
great start greg, squeeze those pollys :D! fly birdy fly!
03-17-2006, 02:13 AM
Hey dude! Glad to see some progress here! I'll wait for the next update, peace!
03-17-2006, 12:30 PM
nice update!!i hope to see more soon!!:D:D
03-18-2006, 01:00 AM
Changes some facial features, added in procederal material for the eyes and a placeholder for the skin.
Started modelling clothes.
03-18-2006, 01:35 AM
beelow Nice to see you visiting my thread again :) I'll try to speed up with the progress.
calisto Hi Linda :D Hopefully in the next update he'll grow some hair
the1st_angel Getting slowly bored of diablo so updates will be more frequent soon
Most of the poly errors will be hidden under clothes so the boxiness should disappear in a few updates
03-18-2006, 06:18 PM
Added some hair. Still needs recombing till the final, but it's an idea of how I want it to look.
03-23-2006, 06:16 PM
Hey there Gregory, great looking updates that I missed here! I like the facial features a lot, excellent job!
