Good Luck!
03-04-2006, 01:15 AM
This is my first scketch for the challenge. I still want to play with some more concepts but i like this one the most. I still have to think a lot about the coposition, characters and so(im just begining my own journey on this one ,ja )
The concept is about the last chance for humanity to survive the damage that we have made to our own planet. Having done so much damage to our selves we cannot travel anymore for long distances(searching for a new home), due to our weaknes and poor health. All our chances of finding a new place to live and ensure the subsistence of our own race are put together in one single space mission. The crew are only two exploration robots (still thinking on the second one)equiped specialy for finding a new planet where to live. All our hope for surviving is only on our own creations.
03-04-2006, 01:19 AM
here is a close up of the robot (not necesarely the final desing)
03-04-2006, 12:29 PM
Great concept! I do have one question. This image looks a little aftermath(ish), would the street lights be working? Just a thought as I don't know full the story.
03-04-2006, 03:18 PM
I really like this concept! I'm looking forward to updates.
Cool details like the flower in the robot's hand.:) Nice interaction with the robot, although to me it can look as though they are asking the robot for directions, rather than the robot being a part of their party. And the kids aren't wearing masks...they're gonna die!!!:scream:
Good luck with the rest of it!
03-04-2006, 03:57 PM
What a pretty concept, mate. Hope to see your modeling skills
Impresionante boceto Hector
03-04-2006, 04:18 PM
The conept sketch is very nice. Apart from the forms, it explores light in a way that will certainly help you at the final render.
03-05-2006, 02:30 PM
Hi guys , thank you for the inputs, well, i have to polish a lot and ive been thinking in more comps for the image and and the design of the second robot. The kids arent wearing the masks (that are in the floor) because they want to se better what would be their saviour and only chance to survive. (they want to see it, even if they get worse or die for not wearing the masks) there will be more people around the two robots (maybe some technics or something) maybe just trying to touch them with reverence or hope I want them to be in severe silence (is like the day before the launching). The robots, well, they are robots ando wont be doing much about the feelings of the humans. Thats why one of them will be "analyzing" the flower. Is like a paradox, we have to trust completely in something that doesent understand us at all
pluMmet: Yeh, everything will be more ruined. Is like a falling civilization, strugling to survive.

greet modeling man ... beside ur idea ...
good luck in this challenge man :)
03-05-2006, 07:57 PM
Great modeling, and the sketch promises some unusual emotional situation. I`m afraid it will be difficult to put all this story into one image-good luck!
03-05-2006, 08:47 PM
Great modeling and very nice design. I am not sure about story itself (seems to be very elaborate) but I already envy you technical skills.
03-05-2006, 09:05 PM
That's a beatiful modelling
03-05-2006, 11:45 PM

se7enthcin: Thanks man, i promess there will be a lot more
Vedic kings: thanks man, your entry looks interesting too. You are working pretty fast a i see
maxspider3000. Thanks man, good luck to you too
Silgrin and _RK_: Thanks for the input guys, well, i have to change some stuff on the composition (ill be scketching some more during the week to see if i come up with somo
other things) to tell all the story on one image. I dont want to make everithing too crowded. I want to translate some feeling at the end .Maybe just silence. i dont know. I think ill know this during the process, depending on how the image grows.
ok people. its been a good and productive day . I like the model so far. Still WIP because i feel it needs some more detail in some areas, but some of this will come with the texturing process. I think ill go to bed now. Ill keep posting some more updates tomorrow.
03-06-2006, 12:52 AM
I love the overall shape to your character.
Keep it up!
Oh, and thanks man:)
03-06-2006, 12:54 AM
great model mate, and i love the concept theme looking forward to the progress
03-06-2006, 03:06 AM
Nice organic shapes for the robot, a bit different than the stereotype. Also like the "reverance" the kids are showing to it. Good luck!
03-06-2006, 08:37 PM
This is the design of the second robot. It will be more like a cargo robot, the tough guy of the mission if you wamt to. Ill start modeling this one tonight. So there will be some fresh updates for tomorrow
I love your concept, very good, classic and still a bit original, good robot modelling in the first one as well. i will say however, that the head of the robot is somewhat reminiscent of something i've seen before, but i just can't place it. maybe war of the worlds?
other than that, it looks great.
waiting for more updates ;)
03-06-2006, 09:59 PM
Hi dennis, thanks for the comments. You mean the front part of the second robot, the spider one, right? well i hadnt thought about that but now that you say that its true. .. It does look like the front part of the robots on war of worlds. Well, is not technially the head of the robot, is more like a light or something. The head would be the tiny thing in the back (if that can be called a head.) I think ill see this better when modelling., depending on how i see the bot, and if it keeps resembling them (now that you said so, i cannot take away of my mind those robots ), ill change a bit the design. I want the thing to be somenthing original . If you see something else please keep telling me. Comments are more than welcome
03-06-2006, 10:03 PM
great concept sketches... its looking good !! keep it up dude
03-06-2006, 10:27 PM
Both the design and implementation of your robots is amazing. I love the direction this is taking.
Hello again Hector
I was actually referring to the head of the first robot.. but know you mention it, the resembles at the front part of the second robot is there as well, allthough not nearly as much as i personally feels the first robot resembles the heads of the robots in war of the worlds. i hope i'm not causing you to do alot of extra work.. but it would be a shame, if the judges thought it was too close to that design and degraded it on that account if you follow me...`??
keep going! very nice model...
03-07-2006, 11:29 AM
But with totally different expression! Looks rather dangerous at the sketch stage.
03-07-2006, 11:49 AM
Some great modelling. It will be great to see how much of that concept you represent in you image. All the best :)
03-07-2006, 02:22 PM
Hey, very good modeling ¡¡ i love your concept....
Va a ser un trabajo dificil de llevar a cabo Hector ;) a ver como sale.
03-07-2006, 03:10 PM

Robot With an arm. Still need to work on the hand... more to come .
03-07-2006, 03:26 PM
super modeling skills man!..what are you modeling these with?
03-07-2006, 03:38 PM
great modeling. Looking to your concept. Interssant idea. You'll just have to pay attention to your composition to be clearly understandable.
03-07-2006, 04:04 PM
Your modeling makes me want to go model some robotic parts. Very nice!
03-07-2006, 05:43 PM
Man, I love your robot!
03-07-2006, 06:01 PM
Hi dennis, wow i was thinking fo the second robot. But i reall y don see the resemblance.. i was watching some pictures of the robots of war of the worlds and those look more like a nut shell or something like that. Mine is more like a camera with some kind of protection or something. I like it, but ill make some other heads to see if i find something that i like better.
arkecreative: Thanks for the kind words man.
Ghost Enigma: thanks, lets see how this develops., there is a lot to be done...:)
tilite: yeh is gonna be taugh, i have to play more woth the comp.Ill be doing some scketching during the week
kebook: Si hombre, pufff hay mucho trabajo por delante pero bueno, ahi esta el reto . thanks for the comments man
Stefan_Morrell. Hey thanks. Im using XSI (im in love with it):)
authentic: Yeh man , i know, i have to try some other things. ill work hard during the week to see if i come up with something. Thanks for the comments
a-papantoniou: Go go model. I fell good that my model makes you feel like creating things:)
Vedic kings:Thanks man, Ill go for the second one as soon as i finish this one (tonight i think)
Maybe your right, i do like your robots as well very awesome design and modeling ;)
Looking forward to see more of you project as it progresses :D
03-07-2006, 09:34 PM
Great work so far! One thing how can the robot move? The back wheels are turned inwards!
03-07-2006, 10:58 PM
Vedic kings hey man thank i notice that too. But im changing the desing (i made a mistake because with the current one, the wheels cant rotate freely), is suposed to work like an office chair. The wheels should be able to rotate to where ever they need to
03-09-2006, 03:37 PM
Starting the second robot
03-09-2006, 03:58 PM

03-09-2006, 09:44 PM
Man you must know alot about machines!
03-09-2006, 10:28 PM
A dark twist to Morrells robots, it'll be great to see both side by side! (I know they're different themes and robot-styles, but that's the nice part, and both are very good at it!)
03-10-2006, 12:17 AM
You have some real nice things going on with your models. I am enjoying your thread very much so. Keep doing what you're doing. I hope you are enjoying it as much as i am enjoying watching your scene grown. :bounce:
03-11-2006, 03:30 AM
Ihave started with the textures on the first robot. There is a lot to be done, but im starting to like the look of it
03-11-2006, 03:32 AM
03-11-2006, 03:34 AM
03-11-2006, 03:39 AM
Still working on the textures for the head .. Hope you people like it .More to come
03-11-2006, 03:48 AM
looking good, love the model design :)
it would be nice to see some localised scratches & grime on the textures, are you painting to a template or is it all shaders?
03-11-2006, 11:01 AM
3d-empire : Thanks man , yehh keep coming! :)
funkymunkey90 : Thanks for the words
Raul Tabajara : hu man, thanks, No it wont be blakc and white, i guess, the final image will be pretty grey , (mainly because the concept , ) but not nescesarily, i guess ill be deciding that pretty soon.
Vedic kings : Thanks man
amz23 : Thanks, man, Wow, i really like morrell´s work too, his thread is one of my favorites
se7enthcin: Thanks for the kind words man, thats one of the best things that some one has ever told me, i really enjoy doing this, please keep coming to see how it goes, You know, comments and crits are always welcome
Stefan_Morrell: Thanks man, i really like your work, and i love your designs too. Yeh, ill be posting some clos ups today when i have finished some more textures. Im using z brush and photoshop to paint them.
03-11-2006, 02:55 PM
Absolutely! I am glad you do. I am not one of those people who does not say anything when something is bothering them. If I have any crits, you will hear them. This update, I have no real complaints. I think You have a nice start on the texturing. I think I might want to see more ware and tear. Scratches and dirt and the like but I like the idea of every image being in distopia. I understand not everything has to be old and warn down to the point of looking like it is about to break.
Keep going! ;)
03-11-2006, 10:26 PM
closeup of the robot´s head
03-14-2006, 05:23 PM
wow great model...and the textures are amazing....cool work:)
03-17-2006, 01:14 AM
i´ve been really busy lately so i haven been able of updating the thread as much as i would like to. A small update on the textures more to come (hope so...)

wow barbapapa im impressed.
See you around.
DSG for life.
From the Huffer
03-17-2006, 02:05 AM
Great robot design you have there! Nice modeling, too. All quads?
I do have one comment to make. Althought the textures seem to be coming along nicely, they still seem a little "plasticy," if you know what I mean. They don't look metallic enough. I don't know if it's the specularity that needs adjustment. Don't know.
Looking forward to your progress.
03-17-2006, 10:41 AM
no1gashuffer: Thanks man
Jedi-Juice. Thanks man, yeh i have to tune a bit the metalic look Ill be doing some tests. For now ill continue with the textures and the modeling of the other robot .I only hope i can finish the challenge. there is a lot to be done
03-19-2006, 02:11 AM

wow amazing job with that robot...you got a very cool work there!....:bounce:
03-19-2006, 07:28 AM
I can say that its an amazing robot you got there. There is no question regarding the detail. Nice work!!! Hope to see more in the near future!!!
03-19-2006, 04:01 PM
Stefan Stavrev: I man , thanks. Well, i think everything will be about the lightning and composition on the final render. We will see. there is a lot to do untill then. As for your question, im 22
megabytes2004: thanks man, yes there will be more, i hope by the end of this week i can put more time on the challenge. I would like to have this two guys textured to move on with the people or maybe the ship.
03-19-2006, 04:24 PM
Nice style of robot, and the modeling is really good too, good luck!
03-19-2006, 06:56 PM

I'm glad i didn't do robots in this contest hahah
keep it up man!!
03-20-2006, 11:50 PM
I Have started modeling the kid that is kissing the robot.I felt like modeling something organic, and play a bit with z brush
03-21-2006, 11:47 AM
Crying Horn:Thanks man
rawwad: hey man, thanks for coming, your 2d entry looks realy interesting too. Im keeping an eye on it to see how it evolves. Realy like the sketches. great style. please keep coming
Dennis.P: hey thanks, yeh i like them but i think they need some more detail in some areas. ill be checking along the texturing process if they need something more that the textures cant.
03-22-2006, 12:32 AM
Great start with the head
Thumbs up all the way!
03-22-2006, 01:04 AM

03-22-2006, 08:02 AM
some texturing on the head
03-22-2006, 09:39 AM
Nice job with the texturing. I am a little sketchy about the hairline but it's probably me. Keep going!
excellent modeling on the face hector...
this is really exciting to follow... i'll continue to keep an eye on this one :)
03-22-2006, 04:07 PM
nice skin texture dude...this is a cool progress:thumbsup:
03-22-2006, 04:10 PM
se7enthcin: Yes man, i think i have to break a little bit the hair line, it ill give a more natural lokk to the model, plus, i need to give some asymmetry to the head. That will be the next step with this one. still want to work a bit more on the texture. and the bumpmap, so i will use that to give it a more interesting look.
Thanks man, yes please, keep coming. im going a bit slow this last two weeks. But i hope i have some more time during the next month to give this scene a little boost
tilite, centurionit, melkao: Thanks guys , please keep coming
03-22-2006, 05:00 PM
Hey there, very good one.
I really dig that model. I don't know if the head's too long on the Z axis? It seems to me it is
03-22-2006, 08:53 PM
yeh, i notice that on the untextured version of the model  , y already corrected that on the last update. Thanks for the crit if you se anything else, please let me know ;)
03-23-2006, 01:05 PM

03-27-2006, 10:34 AM
03-27-2006, 10:36 AM
Really nice work so far, I'm liking the detail you have put in to the textures.
03-27-2006, 06:13 PM
gotta love that grunge  ..the textures are perftecto!
I'm wishing you had more bots to make for this, you've got a great style with them.
03-27-2006, 06:17 PM
Vedic-kings :Thanks man still a lot to do on the texture of the head. Im going pretty slow as im working on several things right now
melkao: Thanks man
Womgoose: Thanls man. Still a lot to do, im not going too fast with the textures. Im still modeling the other bot and the two kids on the image. Ill be texturing along the way.
03-27-2006, 09:19 PM
03-28-2006, 12:16 AM
Hey my eyes are very happy looking that amazing texture work!...congratulations!
03-28-2006, 08:00 AM
With the recent update and the distance. I believe the paint looks better than the previous update. I think I was having a problem with the bump. I think it may be a little bit too high. But very nice work. Keep it up! :bounce:
03-28-2006, 10:20 AM
Stefan-Morrell: Thanks man. Probably there will be another two, but on the background, maybe preparing the ship. Stil have to think on the design of the ship and those robots (will be more like industrial type, dont know yet)
melkao: Thanks man.
se7enthcin: Thanks for the crit man, Yes the bump was a bit too high on the close up for the las update i lowered a little bit, and i think it works way better. i gotta finish this bot , maybe today or tomorrow.
More to come, thanks for the comments guys. Keep comig
03-29-2006, 05:30 PM
some more modeling on the kid..
03-30-2006, 10:02 PM

03-31-2006, 01:03 AM
oops! you did it again!...another cool update....:bounce:
03-31-2006, 10:21 AM

03-31-2006, 10:57 AM
barbapapa very cool texture dude, nice modelling too, good luck
03-31-2006, 02:38 PM
Amazing work! Sooooo stylish, thsi single character builds an extremely clear mood. If everything is similar, it will be an outstanding entry. Congrats!!
Btw, he reminds me that unpleasant four-handed Jedi bot from Star Wars 6. He looks rather grim and brutal. It can be challenging to give him so friendly and nice expression you probably plan... Looking forward your updates.
04-02-2006, 01:32 PM
yeray: Thanks man
Silgrin: thanks for the comments, yeh, ill try to keep the mod fo the scne like that, a bit dark and aftermathish, lets see how it develops. As for the four armed robot, i havent seen the movie . My idea with this one was to give the two robots a really harsh look. like if they were war robots or something, and now we only relly on them to be saved. The only hope for us are these two machines that don even understand us (they are not AI by the way , just exploration robots with the mission of finding somewhere to go) the girl will be giving him a flower and he will be analyzing it. so he is not really friendly. He is just bot
04-10-2006, 01:17 PM
Here is an update on the texture work for the tires of the robot.
(dont pay attention to the ground is just a crapy texture. Still have to work on it)
04-10-2006, 01:52 PM
WOW. Really nice textures. I'll be watching.
04-11-2006, 08:38 AM
OMG ~ nice texture ~I think add some color it will be look better ~
Keep it up:)
04-11-2006, 04:08 PM
Tharts the most thing tha i love from your work...the textures...they area really amazing:drool:
04-12-2006, 06:40 PM
simovici : Thanks for the comments man
melkao: Thanks man, ill be posting some of the screen grabs of the textures later on
toongo: thabnks for the comment. The scen the way i see ot will be a little dark , so it will have colour but not that much. But again i think ill be changing a lot the thin as it grows. So i really dont know.
Thanks for the comments.
04-12-2006, 06:50 PM
Awesome texturing man  I just found your thread, your robotic designs are exellent :applause:
Great work so far, I wish you good luck and a lot of fun in doing this :bounce:

04-13-2006, 08:05 PM
great texturing man ? used some already made photos or just made them yourself ?
04-14-2006, 10:06 AM
Nice dirt! --I've always wanted to say that...anyhow, nice textures, also appreciate the effort it must have taken to smooth out the angular corners of shapes used in your robot. Look forward to seeing more!
04-14-2006, 03:01 PM
Nomad: Thanks man, Please keep coming to the thread
thedirtypaw: Hi man, no photos, all hand painted. I made some custom brushes in photoshop and started painting
oceanbluesky: Thanks, Yeh I love mud jaja. It gives a nice feel to the tire.
04-16-2006, 01:55 AM
an Update on the texture of the second robot. Still have to work out some details. some grime and mud on the legs. Still thinking about the final look of this one, But i like it so far.
Let me know what you guys think
04-16-2006, 02:00 AM
an Update on the texture of the second robot. Still have to work out some details. some grime and mud on the legs. Still thinking about the final look of this one, But i like it so far.
Let me know what you guys think
It looks perfect to me ;)
04-16-2006, 01:17 PM
thanks man , well , i still have to paint some of the small parts. The little lamps and the back part of the bot that needs extra detail. Finally il be moving to semthing else, maybe the ship, or maybe continuing with some of the characters (to much mechanical modeling for now, ja, i enjoy it a lot, but feel like modeling something more organic) I was thinking about the final look of the whole thing. I wanted to do it rainy to give more of a dramatic sense. I think i ll have to start setting up some shaders for that, if it goes that way. I think ill decide as it grows
04-16-2006, 08:28 PM
a closer look to the bot. WIP
Hey this is looking really good! Crits? errrr.... Well I can see straight edges on the leg joints by the body that could be smoothed out a bit to make them rounder, but as this is a wip I dare say you knocked it down an iteration to save on render time so it's just fine and I think you'll have a really good final comp with these guys!
04-17-2006, 04:25 AM
Cool detailed weathered texturing work on everything. I think the lights on the bot should glow more brightly, though.
Looking forward to updates!

M477: thanks man. Yup I just put some iterations to speed u a bit. Keep coming!

melkao. Thanks man. keep coming

Really nice worn textures, very good attention to detail -- especially appreciate your posting the texturing setup you've used. Always interesting to check out how other people approach similar problems. Might want to throw gobos on some of the lights you are using to cast uneven shadows across your models, even if they are only WIPs might serve to break up their specularity a bit.
Excellent work, looking forward to seeing more!
04-23-2006, 06:30 AM
Ok I think this one is finished. I had to do some small pieces, but i finally have all togheter with this one. Hope you guys like it. Any comments or suggestins are more than welcome

Very nice texture work man and the model is looking awesome! looks very used and old.
This is going to be a great piece.
Cya Later and Good luck :)

This really looks great! The modeling and texturing are fantastic! Your shaders could use some work though. The metal could be a tad bit more reflective I think, and the wheels are fading out color wise. The untextured version as such a strong presence, everything is clear.
04-24-2006, 09:07 AM
These dark materials should underline very well the atmosphere of a danger. It recalls me some old Sci-Fi films. It can be a really great entry!
04-26-2006, 06:07 PM
Here is a modeling and texture update of one of the gasmasks that people will be wearing on the scene. Still very work in progres.
04-26-2006, 10:41 PM
Update of the mask, as you see im going for a really worn and old mask (as everything in the scene) made of leather. Like the ones from the biggining of the century.
04-26-2006, 10:44 PM
It looks pretty good, although it still lacks specularity. Even worn things have slight specularity. And perhaps a darkening the diffuse the shader a tad.
04-27-2006, 12:29 AM
update on modeling
04-27-2006, 02:52 AM
another update on the mask

first test render with the two bots on scene. Testing light.
04-28-2006, 06:45 PM
Just trying some things.added some specular lights and retouched some settings.. Now im not paying too much attention on the rendering, just to start thinking on the general look of the image. I still have a lot to model and texture (the background, the ship, people , ohhh my god ) dont know if ill finish ahhhhhhh
04-28-2006, 07:59 PM
another camera angle.
04-28-2006, 08:11 PM
Yep yep yep, i like it, very good tex and lits

I still have a lot to model and texture (the background, the ship, people , ohhh my god ) dont know if ill finish ahhhhhhh
Tell me about it. I guess we are in the same boat...so to speak. Too much to do, so little time. :banghead:
Btw, everything's looking good so far. I do have one crit. Something looks odd with the texturing on the wheels. Perhaps it has to do with the diffuse map.
04-29-2006, 01:21 PM
Womball. Thanks for your replies man and your kind words
ilusiondigital: Thanks man , good luck to you too
Jedi-Juice: Yuo i have to agree on that last render something is looking weird on thw wheels. But i think is the shader, probably the dirtmap, because if i render from a closer view it doesent look like that at all. Have to check out what the problem is
Thanks for cthe crits. keep coming man
04-29-2006, 04:46 PM
cool texturing here!
looking for more!... .. .
04-30-2006, 02:14 AM
Some mountains for the background, modeled in zbrush, textures done in Zb and photoshop.

coochaki: Thanks man, your entry looks really good aswell. i hope i can finish this during this week, still a lot to be done.
Thanks for checking the thread.
05-11-2006, 12:36 AM
here is the boy i think im done with him, i have more to come. Soon more updates, the little girl is also nearly there as the other guys in the picture. I think i might finish after all , dont know but .., maybe... crits and comments more than welcome as usual.
Hope every buddy finishes their entries.a lot of effort and good work on this challenge. good luck to everyone on this last two weeks
05-12-2006, 12:33 AM
here is an update of the girl.Still have to work a bit more on the textures,Give more details to face and hands.
05-17-2006, 02:09 AM
here is a quick and dirty comp in sepia of the characters over the BG still a lot to be done(gotta keep working on the mountains, sky and some props). I think ill be dumping the other robot as it wont really fit nicely on this composition, and i really didtn liked the other comp that much. Ill be experimenting with more views, but i like this one so far. Been busy with some stuff, i only hope i can finish
Good luck to everyone on this last week
c&c more that welcome as always
05-17-2006, 01:11 PM
Feedback :bounce: Feedback :bounce: Feedback :bounce: ....opinions please. If any of you dont like the image please tell me, so i can improve it(been two weeks and not a post).
Any way, more reasons to finish it :D
05-17-2006, 01:45 PM
I want that 'bot for a pet :-)
possible crits:...the road surface right at the bottom looks a bit pixelated..not at a high enough res(or at that angle may even need some filtering)..could also add some rubble & bits of trash to dirty up that area...maybe some puddles to reflect the scene.or just roughen up the geometrie of the ground.
but I'm just being picky...your doing great work
really looking forward to seeing your background for this..might even be nice to see some buildings receeding off into the distance.
keep it coming
oh & good work on the girls face, very unique & believable
05-17-2006, 03:28 PM
You`ve changed the shot direction comparing to the initial sketch... Now it looks less dramatic and the robots are one of the background of another which makes it less clear. I liked the first idea more. Sorry you`ve got no feedback (I`m among the guilty, I know:scream::D:blush:) but with my access to the Net...:banghead:
05-17-2006, 09:42 PM
First of all, thanks guys for checking the thread
Stefan, thanks for the crits. yes, im with you about the road texture, that will be corrected later on as this si just a quick render. ill be using some displacement here, and some new texture. I have some objects already done ,cans, news papers, little leaves, dirt stuff like that the give a more interesting look. I hadnt thought about the reflection stuff, that would be nice, thanks for the idea. As for the background is what im doing right now on my spare time.i Guess ill be doing some buildings ruined and so, if i have the time :D
Silgrin. Thanks for the crit man, i think ill be dumping the second robot, because the scene was a bit confusing the way it was.... On the first view i didnt had any space for the ship on the background(or at least not enough, on this one i have closer shot of the characters aswell. )that was the main reason for changing to this view...thanks for the inputs, really. Im still thinking about more options if you have any suggestion , feel free to tell me . ;)
05-18-2006, 02:03 AM
It's coming along really well. I can't add to what the others have said, and I agree with your decision to remove the 2nd bot. I think simplifiying your scene will make it more dramatic... and give you more time.
05-18-2006, 03:41 AM
hey the details are really amazing.....but is that the final filter?....or it will be colorfull?
05-19-2006, 04:45 AM
here is an update of the girl.Still have to work a bit more on the textures,Give more details to face and hands.
Maybe a little bit late but... what is she doing? The face looks way too neutral =/
05-19-2006, 09:08 AM
The body of your robot is really good.
Maybe you should create some other colors.
05-19-2006, 04:53 PM
MT Cup: thanks, yeh , i think simpifying the scen was important. Glad that you like it
melkao: No no, that wont be the final filter, that sepia filter was just for fun. the scen will be dark, but it will have color. no B/W
nemirc: She is giving a flower to the robot, But that model is a bit old, (is the same as the PS comp) the one that i have now has some facial expression.
Riddick: You mean on the bot? or in the scene in general. The picture as i view it will be quite dark , but it will have some color. Right now im working on the backgorund and some objects that will be around, that will give a more interesting feeling to the
thanks guys anything else you have to say... aim straight ot the head. Is the only way to improve :)
05-24-2006, 09:24 PM
ok people only three days to go, Im nearly there, still have to render some objects for the background and some in the foreground (some dirt and stuff like that) and of course, the flower that the robot has on its hand. I like so far the ilumination and the colors of the image let me know what you people think. crits and coments are more than welcome (more than ever ;) )
05-25-2006, 10:57 AM
05-25-2006, 12:24 PM
Great, a great piece, looks so good, and like the dark atmosphere
05-25-2006, 06:05 PM
Hey there, Hector. Nice job on this! I really like the composition and the metal shader used up close.
05-25-2006, 10:49 PM
i have done some corrections to the poses of the characters (gracias miquel, has sido de mucha ayuda). I still have to render some minor things and color correct some others, i think ill be finishing tonight or maybe tomorrow morning.. Let me know what you people think
05-26-2006, 02:35 AM
Small update. Im going to bed. till tomorrow people
05-26-2006, 07:27 AM
that really is one of the coolest 'bots I've seen in a while,I hope you do some more renders of it after the challenge.
the background at top right could use something, some stars or clouds.just something more than empty space.
last time I commented it was about the foreground,I really like what you've done with that part now, looks a bit steamy & blurred :)..well done
looking forward to your turntable
05-26-2006, 10:16 AM
ilusiondigital: thanks man!
safe05: thanks man, im still tweaking things with the comp. have to do something about the
top right part of the image.. dont know yet what to do
Stefan-Morrell: Man you just read my mind, that part of the image is bodering me...to empty, but i dont know what to do, may be some clouds would do... don know i have some ideas. Im glad that you like the robot man, and sure, ther will be more renders of it when all this is finished. thanks for dropping by. Anything else you that could be improved , please tell me
05-26-2006, 02:12 PM
gi look of the scene. I think im nearly done
05-26-2006, 06:27 PM
wow, do i suck that much?? feed back feed back feed back ( thanks to the people that has already helped me :) )
..please people i need to know your opinion in order to improve this. Any thoughts on what could be missing? lighting setup, anything that coul be improved..com on, 200 visits and not a word, dont know how to interpret that... :argh:
No serously. Any though, any is usefull
thanks in advanced :)
05-26-2006, 07:03 PM
ok i have adde little touches here and there. its getting there. i think ill be uploading tonight, ill give my self some time to check out if everything is in order and then upload the final
Good luck to everyone..still any comments are more than apreciated
05-26-2006, 07:06 PM
Very good pic, ht ecomposition is very good and the lighting awesome, i like this pic, great work
05-26-2006, 07:21 PM
Hi, nice scene:)
I think you need to re-arrange the scene. Theres to much going on in the background that seems to make the main focus (your characters) hard to see, if you know what I mean. If you could change the background alittle like move the big robot ovet to the left or right more . Cause you main robot and background robot mix together to much.
Also there is to much of gray in your scene that makes everything hard to make out. Maybe make the background a light color like blue in the sky, or a dark blue like its early morning, as the sun is rising.
I hope that helps:)
05-27-2006, 06:58 AM
hi have changed the sky a bit, giving it a blueish color as suggested, and i think it looks better. still color correcting some stuff, but i think this could be the final
05-27-2006, 08:17 AM
Our planet is no longer a healty place to live and there are only few survivors of the human race. All the resources have been wasted during centuries of lifestyle and irresponsibility. The air is havy, poluted and toxic. There are few reserves of water, just for drinking.
No animals left, just us.
Due to our weakness and poor health we cannot travel long distances any more.
All our chances of finding a new place to live and ensure the subsistence of our own race are put together in one single space mission where the only crew of the ship is a robot. A left over of a past war, redesigned for the journey.
Our only hope for surviving is on our own creation. All bets are on a machine that doesent understand us, thus cannot represent us.
Hope is the only thing that is left to us, our destiny is no longer in our hands
05-27-2006, 06:30 PM
Excellent finish! This scene speaks volumes. Congratulations on a fantastic scene!
