intersting idea mate... bit confused about searching for mona lisa but hey.. when in rome.. or erm china
Not sure where this going, but I'm liking the sketch and its getting intriguing..... Good Luck
i just have one quick comment about the perspective... but it seems too forced, i have seen this many times in early sketches i am sure you will fix this later but it looks weird to the eye right now. well we shall see how this turns out :)

03-06-2006, 03:20 PM
The face in centre just pops out and doesn't fit in.
Apart from this, great sketch. Strong drawing skills.
03-06-2006, 03:28 PM
Very cool sketch indeed. Looking foreward to the finished piece :)
I have to agree though on the head popping out, maybe you should draw one more person behind him.
03-06-2006, 03:33 PM
Duracel: you are right and thx,I think i will arrange with the colours
Yoitisi:thank you dude, ya maybe is a good idea!!
03-06-2006, 03:33 PM

Looking forward to see your progress!
03-06-2006, 03:34 PM
very nice line drawing man! i love it ! can't wait for your coloring!
03-06-2006, 05:41 PM
Really nice sketch so far, Michael. There's definitely a lot of movement in the piece, but I'm not quite sure what their moveing towards... or does that even matter? A journey doesn't have to have a defined terminus.
What is it on the paper that the two foregoround men are laughing at? It feels like a major part of the picture, but I feel like I missed the joke.
Everything is drawn very well. I especially love the man looking back at us and the panda. One part that isn't working for me is that hand holding the paper/pad in the foreground. It doesn't feel quite right yet: The fingers feel loose, and in real life a pad would just slide right out. Perhaps some additional studies could help tighten that up a bit... Good lcuk!
03-06-2006, 07:16 PM
great style i love it!! nice sketch!!:D
03-06-2006, 08:26 PM
Fantastic linework. And a cool concept.

03-07-2006, 07:10 AM
Zycho:thx alot,I will try my best ,and I hope there are more time for me
Monsitj:thx so much, haha i have long time no draw with pencil,:)
Walrus:A journey doesn't have to have a defined terminus? I think thats what I think so far, haha thx that you like the man looking at us and the panda, the 2 mans infront are looking at a high prices watnted notices, thats y they laugh greedy, hahah the fingers you r right,i am just lazy to do them clearly, haha but I am sure will change it when i start to paint it thanks very much:)
Calisto:thx very much, please keep give me comments
feyshtey:haha ,thx alot. very happy that you like it
03-07-2006, 07:13 AM

03-07-2006, 07:51 AM
great bro~didnt notice that u have updated~this latest sketch of urs rocks!:D
03-07-2006, 01:40 PM
the concept on this piece is great. even fits with the Da Vinci Code theme.
..sort of anyway.
03-07-2006, 03:48 PM
Walrus:A journey doesn't have to have a defined terminus? I think thats what I think so far, haha
You're absolutely right, of course. My comment about needing a goal says a lot more about me than your piece! :)
Will the face on the wanted poster be the man in the center of the image, looking back towards us? Just curious, can't wait to see more! (and thanks for your comments in my thread!)
03-07-2006, 04:45 PM

Hopefully will come to what I except
03-09-2006, 11:20 PM
oy michael slappin on some colors eh..now if only the other michael would be as endevorous lol, lookin good man
03-09-2006, 11:56 PM
Your work is looking really good, I like it alot. The only small thing that I do notice however is the hand of the guy in the foreground, the one holding the poster, it doesn't look quite right. Maybe the fingers need to bend back a little more or the hand needs to tuck under the poster a little more. Other than that I really like it, can't wait to see it finished.
03-10-2006, 01:26 AM
great going michael~seems like ur going with a total different approach in color choices.great expression from the characters and that panda is my fav.

Great work, the facial expressions are very well done, and really bring this image to life.
03-16-2006, 08:18 AM
This is really a new journey for me
,I never do in this kind of colours b4
I was confusing keep it looks like a old traditional paint or use what I always do with the colour like my previous works..hope people can give me more suggestions
03-16-2006, 08:30 AM
I like the mood Michael. But maybe keep those base colors and apply some richer variations on top to make it more interesting, have more color contrast and make the forms stand out from each other. Thats maybe allready in your plans but I thought to mention it anyway!! ;) Keep up
03-16-2006, 08:37 AM
hey mate, very nice update.i love ur color choice.i think u can use the way you with ur previous works if you want hehe ;) but i wanna see the mona notice with traditional chinese ink bruh style. keep going bros:buttrock:
03-16-2006, 08:54 AM
this is the sort of palette i've been using, totally dig this bro~u hav the panda painted.
03-16-2006, 11:34 AM
This is coming along nicely. I agree with Loris_ I'm not sure if the greenish filter suits the kind of mood you're looking for. This kind of "feel" is mostly used to project a futuristic, punk-rock mood like in the matrix or something. It kinda brings a mysterious, dreadful mood to the image. The scene you're depicting looks fun, not mysterious. Perhaps more "afternoon sun" colors to make it more lively? Just a thought.
this looks mighty nice so far.
03-17-2006, 03:28 AM
Loris: ,thx so much, you r so right, thanks so much to mention it, I will think more clearly and start doing it again soon:)
xric7: haha thx bro,I stopped becoz I am confusing about this.......for me it is a new try
Sh@ke: thx dude, haha we switchs the colour style then haha
ahbeejieh:ya I really thanks you and Loris alot, ya this is not a mysterious pieace
,I may show how I change soon, thx so much :)
03-17-2006, 03:31 AM

03-20-2006, 12:27 AM

03-20-2006, 12:29 AM
This work is crazy, I absolutely love it. Great color choices, very dynamic, and I love all the facial expressions. I can't wait to see where you go with it, I'm sure it will be an awesome solid work.
03-22-2006, 03:52 AM
Love thw way ya thinking buddy!
About the color I love this grey theme too, but I think about adding more light source like sunlight in the hightlight of picture to make a conflict to composition and story (sorry if ya plan it already hee hee).
It's feel like a hope in the waste land and many guys there say "we will be free from this poor live woopie!!".
Anyway I love ya panda hee hee
Waiting for next wip buddy!
03-27-2006, 03:27 AM

03-30-2006, 03:50 PM
i dont have a problem with the green hue. I'd like to see some red/orange chinese lamps and banners in there for contrast. Composition wise, its perfect. The characters are great and really tell the story. From the guy pointing on top of the panda to the curious tall fellow to the 2 studying the map. Brilliant stuff!
04-11-2006, 06:16 AM
I ve been away for quite a while, starting coloring theother characters as well as the BG, hopefully can complete this piece on time.and I will add more colours soon

As I told ya in msn, think bout little story hiding in all pic like someone in the roof, cat, ninja hiding in the wall, someone make something... in the window or any idea to make this pic full of activity.
There's no play time anymore, we must try hard to finish the challenge CHEERS!!

You can finish it! add oil man :). You have the foreground done and the mid and backgrounds won't need to be as detailed so maybe it's not as hard as you think!

For my Journey ,I want to focous on How my characters begin their journey, and why they go for the journey.Very simple, people are always desire on Money,women,treasures..ect ..
The Background is seted in a east nation..Because of a piece of wanted notice, actaully they don`t really know where to find the target, but because of their desire, they started their journey with less consideration...seems the target is very very attractive!! from east to west, no matter how far the target is. their journey begin
