View Full Version : Freaky monster
Ayreon 12-13-2002, 01:44 PM This is something I'm currently working on. I would like to ask you some advice and tips. I'm having trouble figuring out what type of body would fit with this head. A muscular body or a fat body? I was thinking of a small body with short leg or something. Any tips would be great, because I'm all out of inspiration!

LOL that's cool
I think that a Shrek-style body would suit this guy :)

Oh, I meant to mention this - does he have ears? It doesn't look like you've modelled ears yet. You should either give him some big dumbass kinda ears (like the characters in Day Of The Tentacle) or little flappy ones like Shrek had :)

Nice face.
Id make it a fat-ish body.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I was away all weekend, o I didn't have much time to work on the model. I gave him some ears (not finished I think) and just tweaked the head a bit. I also changed the eyes. I think I'll go with the blue ones. He's supposed to be kind of a big idiot, clumsy and all. Tell me what you think, blue eyes or the old ones?
Leigh, I agree, a body like Shrek would suite him well. I love that movie, seen it 5 times now and it still makes me laugh!! I'll try to give him a body like Shrek.

Here's a little update on the body. I'm having some trouble keeping the polygonflow right, so the model will deform right when animated. Oh well, Ill just keep trying!

Love the expression on his face.
Is he villian or hero? I see him as a hero. He's an ostracized hero who one day saves a girl of ill repute from being attacked, by a so called Superhero who looks kinda like Superman. This superman like character is attacking the girl for some small crime and since he has her alone he thought he'd just you know....well grunt is a local bum mutant who lives in the alley and well he saves the girl from the superhero.
The superman-like entity feels ashamed and he is definately beaten up. Our monster hero is a kind but ugly creature who lives alone, but his world is soon turned upside down, when he is accused of attacking the worlds most beloved superhero. The Justice League like characters are out to get him, not knowing there superman like hero is actually not as squeaky clean. The story is about your creature trying to clear his name and go back to his simple life. In the end the Superman-like hero is found out, and SPOON(the name of your character, heheheh) life actually changes for the better.
Great work, inspired me to thnk of a little plot to put him in. Hope you enjoyed my idea.
ps I think the body should be shorter and smaller. Kinda like a Small Body in Anime or chibi style, that would look cool. Very short arms, that whole apelike body is kinda played out.

Wow Flog, that's one hell of a reply! I love the idea you posted. Never really thought about a story when I started him. He was supposed to be some sort of hero, instead of just another evil orc or troll. I'll definately keep your idea in mind for the near future!!
I agree with you on the body. I will make it smaller. More of a cartoony feeling maybe?
Well, thanks again for your ideas!!

Here's a little update on the body. I've made it a lot smaller and finished the arms. Just some point tweaking needed to smooth things out.

Oke, since I got no replies, I went ahead and used the big body.
Here's a little update with some morphs applied.
