I see you changed the coulor of the former black GP, good decision!
Let me see more furry updates soon! They are sooo cute!

yeehar..a big picture! looks really great Mona- just a few composition points:

I think the position of the gate directly behind is distracting from the GP'S..do you need it at all? I'd lower the fence/hedge a bit so his GP nose isn't directly in line with the top of it.
also, I agree with zapan about moving birdie the the left (it looks like he's flying past them), and I'd even think about getting rid of the lamposts or making them smaller.

I LOVE the position of the GP's, curtains, flowerpot and cute bird in box-looks brilliant!

hope that's helpful!

soapy

Great to see you moving along to the final setup. I tend to agree with Shakes that the composition might use some work. I am not too fond of how the GP's poses frame the gate it is a bit visually distracting. Plus the whole thing is a bit too symetrical for my liking. Maybe some new positions for the gate and city? You could move the gate left along the hedge? City could spread out?

makaron
03-15-2006, 07:52 PM
Squibbit: Iīm still watching that hampster... :p haha

hallo daWinky, thanks :) and Iīm staying with this one... with just a few small changes... and you know never a dull moment with GPs around... haha.. CYA

thanks a bunch jevinart... Iīm happy to hear that

shakes: hallo sir... funny I just did the GPs just a bit bigger so his nose is above the hedge, and about the airline bird, itīs already moved to the left... just before I read your comment... and for the gate... it suppose to be darker. and maybe more open.. or I get rid of as you mention... lets see what happnes.... and the lampposts are a bit to sharp for now... a lot of things to do still... but thanks a lot of your words it helps :)

Soapy: you have a good idea about the gates there.. thank you...

G'morning to ya Mona! Very nice work and progress, it's such a funny picture!

Now for some suggestion ( sorry can't escape it haha!:scream: )
I think you could have the bird and Ninja still a bit bigger, you got room for it and you'll be able to work more detail on the couple.
The city buildings are a bit regular too, you could add some more variation in size and proportions, and to increase the sense of depth you can have even more difference in the contrasts between the foreground and the background and scale it from front to back-e.g. the fence could be lighter than the border of the window, at the moment they seem to have the same value.
Hope this helps!
Can't wait to see you start colours on it. DA man says great stuff, yo! :bounce:

and thierry2005: Da man... I canīt see all that you wrote... to many dreads in front my eyes... haha... and gonna try with a bigger bird/plane... and all those other things you said...
thanks... but itīs a hedge... not a fence! :banghead: maybe try with a fence and see what that looks like... could work so the middle of the image gets more intresting...

thanks Poonks... and I getting the crayons out of the box now... do you wanna borrow some?

Hi makaron. Cute piece you got here. Just wanted to bring some stuff up to your attention. What drove me to view your entry up close is I thought someone's doing a piece with 2 hamsters mating in it. And it still looks like that up close. Plus I think the hamsters are a little too centered in the composition and the flower pot on the bottom right of the pic is pulling the eyes out of focus from the main characters. I think the flower pot's unnecessary since you got the tree where the birds live in the background on that area already. Just some thoughts...

hehe, this is great! I agree with what other people have been saying about the hamsters though. Also At the moment they are both side on, maybe you could change the position of one to look more like its turned to look out the window...

makaron
03-17-2006, 02:42 PM
hallo yAdam great you find the image great... :bounce: and gonna look at some solution to "keep them" apart... and BTW your piggie avatar is so sweet...

perhaps just shadows and light will do the trick, or I move them.. or turn them or put something in between them... they might need a suitcase, the flyer, the flowerpot... or a bag of food for the trip in to town... you never know... letīs see what the future beholds... :)

What a handsome guinea pig, and one very impressive thread you've got running here too. I've been busy with other stuff all week and haven't had the chance to see the progress. The fur up close is looking excellent. I'm wondering about the spelling of 'cheew' or should it be 'chew' on the ticket? Is that some G.P. spelling? Keep up the great work. It's coming along really well

Great fur! I hope you will block in the entire image first to a similar level before really going for the detail though - as sometimes (from my own experience!) if you thouroughly finish one area before another the overall image can end up feeling a little bit disparate. But I definately think youre heading in the right direction and am looking forward to more!

I do each caracter by them self and put them into the big picture. my olīcomputer is a bit to tired to work with big pictures... I use B/W as background and layers with colormode... gives a pretty good result how it looks together...

this is why my updates are just small parts of the big image.

They are flying with feet and claws backwards:wise: , just for the minimal air resistance...but of course during the landing approach the feets are coming forward again...so it depends on the situation you want to show...but I think he's still high enough for the "feet backward mode":D

testing the big picture... does the grass work? thatīs the big Q:n of the day... to get the DOF.effect?
Have to dye the curtins in a darker shade... the front layer in more colors on the flowers and the windowboard and the guinea-pigs... and the basket for the parrot of course has to be put in...

NIce update Mona!:bounce:

The feather work on the parrot looks a bit uniform though, you might want to put some lighter and darker areas to increase the sense of volume.

I agree with rattlesnake about the grass, playing a bit with lights to create depth will make it look more interesting.

and for the grass... donīt like... ;) and trying "like a try and error" method... to get the hedge and grass look like it fits together in depth... and testing diffrent "bunch all together layers metods that may work so I can handle the big picture... without having wait minutes when the computer thinks... Yes, it's getting better and better, Mona !

I'd say a little more contrast generally ? Why not make the big houses in the background a little bigger and just a tiny, tiny bit more visible ? That would emphasize the size of the GP's. I'd also like the parrot a little bigger and the tail overlapping the green fence - that would create depth too.

Anyway, it's really comming along well !

great start on the green the mainstructure looks great!!!

btw a good trick with grass is to use a lighter color to paint the tips, since the lower areas usually are in the shadow :) u can switch between warm and cold greens that makes them look like if the sky reflects on the leafs or the sun shines through them :) it that is too much work, get an english gardener and make a golfplace of it ;)

keep it up mona, and yes, please add flowers, first they are lovely, love how you painted the flowers you made already, second, they help the eye to and are good to lower other details since they stick out and give instantly a great grass feeling :)

Hello..well u have some good advice from Mister Angel, i think that the hedge is looking better, but i also think that maybe it needs some holes, where we can se some branches, but of course this is depending on how u want it to look like, just a humble opinion on my side,..

but have a Q:n... what color should be best for the tree? a light or a dark trunk? it suppose to be DOF:ed later on... any suggestions?

fgdf
04-01-2006, 11:58 AM
I think the color should be bright but it should also contrast with the head. I think of a gray color caming into soft brown http://free.of.pl/k/kolarzem/brzozabrodawkowata/brzozabrodawkowata2.jpg... but softer ;)

Haha, love that little head poping from behind, that one cool addition! The stone could have some variations of tone and colour, maybe some spots to make it somehow more realistic and for the tree, just don't saturate it too much, I think you can go from that grey and just add some texture and some brown on a colour level.
So, you're finished with the grass? feeling better?:scream: haha:cool:

rattlesnake
04-04-2006, 04:53 AM
well, i like the number 1, no very sure..i think that in number 2 the tree appears more important, maybe because the way i read images u know left to right, but im usually wrong on my interpretations..lol go for the one that make u feel more comfortable,

if u ask me..well in number one i have the sensation that the red bird is arriving ..and in number two it feels like is just flying around..maybe that only happens in my twisted mind..:scream:

all details youre painting are very nice ..the birds house on the tree is cool idea...great work girl:bounce::applause:

ramy badie
04-04-2006, 06:10 PM
I think the problem is that the bird isn't really facing the window, so in both of them it looks like he is just gonna fly off for me. The first one though, like the other people said, can more easily be interpreted as the bird flying towards them. If you changed the angle of the bird a little bit then I think either way would work just the same :) not sure if it's too late for that though
