this idea stuck in my head the moment i show that the challenge started.
If you ask any climber in the world why they climb a mountain, they all answer the same. " because its there"
The day they waited for a long time has finally come. the weather cleared over the summit and they prepare to journey up . its a dangerous journey every, every step counts, the leader checks right and left att his gear and then he looks up att the mountain. Its full glory anveils in his mirror like glasses. The journey begins.

thank you Carina :D

as i said michael and carina .i see the wacom as an investment to move my skills on the screen . so if my skills on sketching are crap buying a wacom wouldnt improve my drawing skills it will just further them into the screen. so i thought of working on paper and improving on drawing and then when i see that i am impoving buy the wacom :D

Hi Steph,

What do u mean , its going to be reallistic but i dont want him to be a human climber . i want to push the envelope . make him humanoid and in another world . give also the element of suprice in the picture as well as he looks up the mountain and the clear sky on the summit the appearency of a menacing storm behind him and him group. more adventurous more danger in high altitude.

Thats the idea anyway . I am greatfull for your guys and gals feedback on this

blocking of the scene in 3d ( experiment on lighting as well)
modelling the enviroment( were needed) and characters, props etc.
texturing, rigging, turntable

Character poses, character sketches, enviroments, read Loomis and Hogarth, thumbnailing and working on composition angles, emotions and facial expresions :D No rushing things. Thanks for stopping by laurent. I like his nose most of all as well . I need to work on the ears and eyes and maybe try something else for the ears as well
I ve been working on sketching different angles and how i would like the character to be ( started climbing and see him on a climb angle or down on camp) i think i will go with a more dynamic pose of the character started to climb the mountain and looking up gasping for air looking att the top of the mountain :D i like it more like that more emotional :D

Hi Omar thanks for stopping by.

this days i have too much to do as i am going to finish my master thesis and leave it at the university so that has first priority in my list. Other than that i have some second thoughts about the relevance of the character in the concept. Many of you guys had difficulty putting the character in the concept and i am having thoughts about it. if he is going to fit the concept or he is too fantasy looking. so i need to adress this now before i start modelling as well as finalize the concept sketch and render it in paper to see how the character would look like and what i need to model next. I started looking att tutorials and wireframes of characters models to see how i am going to modell him as this is going to be my first reallistic full character. There is a challenge by itself

Thanks to everyone for stopping by and support me in this . will be needing it all the feedback i can get :D

After a long time finally i have made some progress in the challenge and made some concept compositions of how the final image would look like in terms of dynamic of the image the characters overall look , poses and a rought of how i would like the foreground, middleground and background to differentiate. There are 5 concept angles and compositions both with different cameras and angles. I decided also to skip the humanoid character as i thought i would not be to relevant to the hole story .

And we have polys! :bounce::bounce:

Difficult about the angles... 1 and 5 seems very dramatic - there goes my vote!
One thing you might consider to make the concept of journey stronger is to see if you can see something of the goal/target. Maybe seeing him from behind, he's looking down over his shoulder and the big mountain raises above him?

Great start - yayy! :)

I agree with Gunilla about maybe having your character looking down, with the camrea looking up at the large rock, also as he holding on with fear or something along that line..

Polys !!! I see Polys !!!
I really like the 1st comp ... I do like the landscape view of the 3rd one too ...
Arf not easy ...
So I guess my vote would go to an invisible choice , a mix between those 2 ... you think that's a possible option ?

But so great to see that pic starting , now Go Aggie ... FLY !! yay !

cheers ,

I really like the #3... but with details and people on the ground... to have a more strong view and action...

well, to have :
- the scale between the guy and the ground's details as the #5
- the framing of the #1 (another focal then to have #5 scale of things)
- the format of the "3...

my thoughts

Your project start well Aggie

your different layout are intersting. I think for 1 2 3 you can let more space in direction of point of view of your character. My favorite is 3 for the moment but a move vertical version of 1 could be better I think.

i like the 5th its a nice angle and gives some real focuses on his face, which i know you want to do :)

glad that you finally began compositing :)

vedic kings : thanks for the kind words :D

Gunnie : tack s mycket . About the character i was thinking as he lifts his head up that sees the top of the mountain . have some thought about how to make it more menacing and how to put the element of danger in the image to make it more dramatic as well as play with his expression

makaron : The goal is easier said than done . climb the mountain because its there. its a challenge and a journey both as a journey up the mountain and a journey in the emotions of the climber and the dangers he faces. The unbredictacle , the wrong moment that is always there. sometimes the most simple situations are the most dramatic. what i want to betray in the image is the guy and the mountain . a goal to be reached. and the thoughts that go though his mind as he sees the goal in front of him as well as the element of suprice and the majestic of the enviroment.

Zapan: mon petit escargo :D thanks for the encouragement :D

Lemog : Thanks for the vote laurent i know its difficult to decide i have to think about it again and go through them .

authentic: thanks for stopping by and the thoughts about the compositions :D

sergioKomic: hi sergio , well we cant please everyone :D but i will try my best

Llynna : hi britta :D thanks for the kind words and the vote:D

Squibbit: similar is the right word i have no worries. but i dont have pink bunnies try to kill my climber :scream: :D,will have to find another way to put him in danger thanks for the vote panu

I like the third composition- you could have a creature's hand reaching down to help him up- will he take the hand? Or not? what will begin if he does? You could also use a great surpised expression and a cool creatures' hand ...plus little rocks falling down to show that it's a heavy beast....
