View Full Version : Does Photoshop have an option for continuing brush on opposite side of canvas?

I'm wondering about whether Photoshop offers a particular option/setting/function where say if you draw your brush to the right of the canvas and off the canvas, it will continue to draw on the left side of the canvas.

As you can imagine this will be handy for drawing seamless textures.

Any ideas if this is possible, even via a plug-in or anything? I heard of the function but in a different application. I'm using CS2.

Thanks

No...

As a workaround, use the offset filter. This will wrap your image around the canvas instead. Just remember the initial offset value you first used and after you have done your brush work, use the offset filter again with negative values.

Yep, surely it's a feature coming soon :). But the way the PS dudes incorporate new features into the software is gradually, making the most money in the long as you tend to upgrade to the newer version every year :(.

And/or surely there's a plugin for it, i'll have a search around.

Yeah i'm familiar with the offset filter... but an 'offset-brush-like-tool' would be so much sweeeeter ;).

I was first brought to the attention of this idea from the book; Digital Texturing & Painting by Owen Demers. The sentence mentioning this function says:

"I use Painter 6 ... with the Define Pattern option turned on for the canvas. This allows you to paint over one edge of the canvas while it continues to paint onto the opposite edge allowing you to create seamless".

Pretty cool huh. Is Painter that app by Corel? What version is it up to these days?
