View Full Version : The Dock
Marek__222 02-25-2006, 02:29 PM Hello
This is my first animation I am not ashamed of (in fact I'm a bit proud of it). It's a one minute short showing a plane from Terminator movies leaving an underground dock.
I used 3dsmax7 (Default Scanline Renderer) and Adoby Premiere Pro 1.5. The music is taken from "Terminator 2", sound effects from internet sample banks, the rest is made by me.
It took me half a year to make it, so I hope you're going to like it. Comments are welcome. Enjoy.

wow man that was really good! it's your first time... modelling? animation was good and pretty realistic, but did you model/light/render/texture all that too? for 1st time i'm really impressed by this! it's like Sci-Fi channel quality! lol i mean.. it could be way more realistic, but for a first time i think it's amazing!! keep up the vfx!

Good going ... I like your editing and choice of camera angles. First heigh? Cool. Lot of work. I have a feeling you will do well in VFX. Hope to see more to come. Good Luck.

Thanks for the comments. I'm really glad you liked it.
That's my first work I decided to show in the public, not the first thing I ever made. I've been trying to do somting worthy for a few years... You can see the rest of my more or less successful works here (http://www.ee.pw.edu.pl/%7Epaterczm/terminator/)(terminator model).
And yes, I made it all - models, lights, textures and rendering.

The animation was entertaining and the modeling/shading look pretty good, but the engine blast was kind of distracting. It looks too opaque, and the pure white coloring dosen't really convey that we're seeing flames.
The lighting also needs to be varied a bit throughout the scene, the lights all look copy/pasted right now... Perhaps tweak your camera a bit as well - it's a touch too abrubt on the movement.
On a smaller note, I believe you meant to spell 'rotors', not 'routers' on the computer readout...

Really awesome little work! Too bad it's so short huh!! You really make us wanna see the whole story! :)
Congratulations on an amazing work of art!
Do you have a site where you feature more of your work?

I agree about the thrusters. Some color added would probably make it less distracting.
The other thing that stood out in my mind was the volumetrics at the end. While the ship is rising, the tunnel doesn't seem to have any dirt. The environment looks pretty clean and crisp. Then the top opens and you see these harsh rays of light. The only way that you see these rays is if there is some kind of dust/particle matter in the shot.
I disagree about being too short. If it was any longer, I feel you would lose the interest of those watching.
