I'm currently working on this millitary vehicle. It is SDKFz 251-1 Semiorugas. I'm trying to keep the whole vehicle under 6,000 tri's. Model is not compelete yet I have to add some more details like guns on its roof and some other details will be added through texturing.

All c&c's welcome:)

This a render of the model. Right now the poly count is 3,984 tri's.

nice model, good clean mesh

. what stikes me at a quick glance is that some, actually quite a few parts that stick out(like the window bits etc) could be acheived with intersecting meshes rather than a water tight single mesh, this isnt as neat but, provides the same geometry for alot less tris.

just applying this to front windows, would reduce poly count from 68 to 42 in that area, quite a large saving of 33%, also get rid of the symmetry line as soon as you have finished modelling, that will save a few.

u can save tons of tris on the wheels...they shudnt be intersecting at one point..

At least as far as the track wheels and headlights go, yeah absolutely, use tri-strips instead of fans. the front tires are fine as they are. the varied profile makes a tri-strip cylinder cap a bit more difficult there.

You might be able to remove a couple polies from the engine cowl and the wheel/track fenders as well. When I have a chance, I'll have to point them out.

looking pretty sweet so far. keep up the good work!

SHEPEIRO: Hey dude thanx a lot for replying and cool suggestion:) But please help me with, how to create intersecting mesh, I never did that before:sad:

rockyj123 & Wintermute: Thanx for the suggestions its is really helpfull:) You are right by using Tri fans I'm wasting polys. I will definetely change the tyres and headlights by using Tri stips instead of Tri fans. Again Thanx for cool suggestions:)
