View Full Version : mountaineer
kotter 12-12-2002, 08:42 PM Hi everybody, this is my first post here :D
I started modelling on my litte mountaineer
(is that how u spell it? ) today and i thought i'd post him here
to get some C&C.
ideas on equipment is allso welcome since i'm working pretty
much without a reference.
when he's finished i'll rig him, (try :hmm: ) to texture him, and eventually do some animation too.
i'm fairly new to all of this but with your help i think
i will manage ;)
now to the pic...
I havent attached the head to the body yet, will do that when most of the details on the body is complete.
I should probably mention that i'm keeping the detail pretty low.
well.... i'll shut up now and let you do the talking :D

Hi Kotter,
Nice start! I'd make the head rounder in back and then work on adding gear onto him (or her). Backpack, crampons, goggles, etc. Go nuts! ;)

Looks Great so far, kinda looks like alittle eskimo right now, cant wait to see the rest, maybe give him some spiked boots, deffinately goggles,is his hood gonna have fur around the edge?I agree with JSCARR amke his back side of the head a little bigger or rounder we all kniow how big winter jackets are and it will even out the character...IMO...keep posting!!:buttrock:
Nice, keep up the good work...

Are those his knees Down by his feet bulging out of the pants? If so I think you may need to move them up. It looks like a cartoon kind of character, but he looks like he has human characteristics. So move those knees up. A good reference site is www.fineart.sk. This site is really good for reference material on the human body and most of the body parts.
Its looking good so far. Keep it up and never stop working!

Looks cool, but why the fur? It looks out of place to me on such a cartoony figure.
Nice job though.

actually the fur helps me cheat a little on the texturing, but don't tell anyone :D
I'm going to "open up" his hood a little tonight so you can see his face better.

Here's another update:
I've changed the head a bit, and shortened the fur on the hood.
maybe the fur on his gloves are a little too much?
