View Full Version : maya obj export faces flipped
Leonard_Washington 02-22-2006, 07:18 PM when i export a model from maya as an obj file and bring it into zbrush or 3ds max some of the faces are flipped, is there a way to prevent this?

I found it’s not really the normals that get messed, but the material. Try applying a material to that object instead of reversing its normals. Makes me think its something to do with the material that is not getting exported along with the model.
I get the same problem from time to time; I tend to export using ASCII or Maya’s own format rather then obj.

I have the same problem even when export and then importing Maya ascii format. I have to reapply the materials for the object to become visible. That's a pain when the object has multiple shaders. Is there a way to keep that connection when importing?
