Hiya!

I'm posting this with assumption that ThinkStory probably won't read this.

Based on our e-mails conversations and his previous post with SublimeOne, the guy's probably way too busy to look into this thread especially if it don't seem story related. But even it he does, it's no big deal. I was just wanna say, did anybody else notice that it's almost been a year since ThinkStory started his thread??? And he's still putting in the time and effort in helping out the community for FREE?

I just thought that kind of generosity deserves some kind of applause. :applause: :applause: :applause:

I mean, I joined CGTalk because of his posts and became a regular visitor the other CG forums also and I'm sure other people out there has done something similar. He doesn't just help the artists that ask questions but other people who read his comments too. It's really been a great source for information that we just can't find in many places (IF ANY!).

So, I don't know, I was wondering if there was something we could do to show our gratitude for his help and sharing his skills and knowledge with us. I know many of us, are just students and freelancers who doesn't have much economically but that's why ThinkStory's service has been so helpful and if we all chip in maybe we could put together some kinda honorarium or gift just to say thank you, you know?

So does anybody have any suggestions or know of a place on the web that can facilitate group-donations or something?

How does everybody else feel about this?

Hey CGRater,
What a nice gesture, totally agree with you!
Well, I'm just a student so, like you said, don't have much but I joined the forum cause ThinkStory's is in it! Count me in for $10, yeah--it's not much but HEY if we got 10 people, that's $100! And I don't think ThinkStory is the snotty type that will snort at that, if he were would he be doing this??? NO WAY! I think he'll just see it as a genuine gesture of appreciation which he totally deserves, man!

But, question is, how we going to do this? I don't know of any sites that facilitate this kinda thing so should we just paypal it or whatever to you, CGRater? Can we trust ya, haha! Just kidding, but really, what's the plan?

And come on (whoever's reading this), this post needs WAY more participation!!

HI SHMW!!

Thanks for your post, man!
Well, that makes $20 for the two of us, heehee.
Also, yeah like you said, I've been searching for a site to take group contributions but didn't find any.

BUT I WON'T LET THAT STOP US!

Current backup plan is we can just post whatever we're going to contribute here and just all PayPal ThinkStory on a particular date.
Hope he doesn't think it's spam, haha!
One of us should probably send him an e-mail notification first.
So, anybody else? Come on people, share the love!

OK. I know, it's been a while.
But I've been askin around and I've got few friends talking and we've got up to $107 plus SHMW's controbution!!! We were thinking we can put together an e-card thing or an e-mail string with everybody's signature/personal message to ThinkStory. :bounce:

Hey, would anybody mind drawing something up for us?

Some obsticles are:
1. Firstly, $107 is a rather odd number don't ya think??! Come on, all we need is a few more people, let's pull this to $150 or possibly $200??? WHOA!
2. There was some concern that there wont be any confidentiality if we all PayPal him independently, so here's a possible resolution. Anybody who wants to participate can send their contributions to me via PayPal and I can fw it along to him in a single total amount. You can list the $ you'll contribute to me via private mail OR post it HERE and I can update the totals with a post at this forum everytime I get your contribution so the # can only go up so there's no CHEATING!!! And if the amount doesn't match what you sent, you can talk all you want about it then everybody will know and ban CGRater from the forum HAHA! Really though, I'm not doing this because to swindle anybody, I think that's pretty obvious but just in case that's stopping anybody who wanna join this, there's a way to avoid it.

Just some statistics...ThinkStory's post has 208 replies and over 10,000 views, come on, the guy deserves something!

So...anybody else we can add to the list??
