Title: Gone
Name: Linda Bergkvist
Country: Sweden
Software: Painter, Photoshop
I've decided to share my final piece for the Furiae book, since I've submitted it to Exposé 4, anyway :]
I've no inclination to go into the story behind it right now... but the painting took me ages to complete. I had such a vision of how I wanted it – peaceful yet sad, because the character depicted is no longer alive... and it was hard. It was very hard. A friend of mine, Johan, posed for the references almost half a year ago, and I tried to finish the picture on many occasions without ever quite 'getting' it. I couldn't achieve the look I wanted no matter how hard I tried.
Then, a while ago, I sat down and finally I caught the feeling for it. I think it was in the skintone that made the difference. Or perhaps the textures. Something 'clicked', anyway, the way things do very rarely.
The piece is done about 50% in Photoshop, 50% in Painter... with a lot of different textures applied chiefly to the foliage to give it the right look. The skintone is painted almost exclusively in Photoshop as I still blend colours best there :) The face, some people tell me, resembles my own – but for once I wasn't using myself as the reference! Not fair!
My Dior perfume modelled for the bottle, so I guess I sort of snagged the general shape of that bottle from J'adore – if you've seen the bottle, you know what I mean. In the end, I think the hands and the bottle took by far the longest to make. After, I've refrained from painting any other detailed hands, hehe, I guess these just took the spirit out of me.

Keep pushing that envelope Linda. You keep reaching wonderful new technical levels, but what you acheive emotionally is far greater. This is something I would gladly have on my wall.
I'm not going to rant on, but I love it. Up there as one of your best.

Hej Linda. :)
Your work always amazes me, and this is no exception!
Very emotional, and great work on the skintones like always.
You didn't have that Johan guy pose like that for six months straight did you? ;)

Wow, fantastic!! His skin looks like it turned into a semi translucent waxi stuff. Makes his flesh look very delicate. And those beautiful details on the bottle....

Oh wow....oohh woooow. I really, just, ugh, this is so good! I can't even talk!! *shakes head around*
The skin textures and tones are just amazing! I mean really, on the nose in the close-up I can see the pores of his skin! Now that is realistic! ...Er, I'm speaking with too many exclamation points, but I can't help it, this is great. I love the soft position of his hand and the color scheme of the whole image. I also love the perfume bottle, there's so much detail in it.
The face is, as always, gorgeous. The lips are beautiful. I don't think it looks that much like you, but it still holds a beauty that is just too awesome to describe. I love this painting a lot, and if I could, I would keep talking, but I got a cold and I just woke up. So I'll just sit here, drinking hot chocolate, admiring your painting for a while. :)

Wow! Hi Linda and congrats on another masterpiece! I love all the subtle details all over the hands
So are you going to tell us what's in the bottle or is it left up to our imagination? So curious! Poison? Magical goodies that could have saved our dead friend? hehehe... either way I love the storytelling in this piece!
Hope you're doing well

Linda your artwork is insanely good, and this one is no exception. You seem to improve with each picture, which is amazing considering the quality of your previous works. I also noticed this has a more 'realistic' approach compared to the more 'painterly' feel of your previous works. Can we expect more works of this style?
5 stars, of course

Isn't that Frodo and the Light of whatever... ehh...nevermind XD
You have reached yet another level of realism. It's totally amazing - that's all I can say about it. And I can't wait for your book (Actually... I dreamed of it today. Really! But don't ask *g*)

Bejeesus woman  if you weren't so damn nice I'd be really depressed right about now hehe. The translucency of that skin is incredible. Funnily enough, I thought that bottle reminded me of J'adore a little, then I read your description heh. Needless to say, am over the moon at some new work to oogle, breathtaking as always *hugs*, etc etc ^^. Now I am off to scavange some chocolate and drown my sorrows, keep up the amazing stuff :)

Arden_rey – thank you :]
Darthiir – It is? I suppose it is :] I like doing new things now and then.
Queenie – Thank you, doll! <3
Erilaz – Thank you kindly :] The emotion was more important than the technique here... though technically, I suppose I got carried away, hehe.
ElKrullo – Hejsan :) And thank you! No, ha ha, I think Johan would've strangled me if I'd forced him to do more than a few quick snapshots before sending him off. ADORE your avatar, by the way!
Agamemnwn – Tackar, tackar :] And thank you regarding Exposé – I didn't submit for #3, but I felt I had a few pieces for #4... I'll see what happens :]
Rawwad – Thank you :]
Arty2 – Thanks :] I spent a lot of time working on the skintones in this one. I wanted to capture a porcelain, translucent feel (if you look at the hands, I tried to hint at soft blue veins underneath the skin). Thankee :)
Sylvana – Aw, thank you :] I'm very happy you like it. Have a ton of chocolate for the two of us, huh? :D I can't eat chocolate at the moment (or drink, as it were... waah.)
Jm – thanks :] The placing and painting of the leaves took a lot longer than I had expected. Trying to get them to accentuate rather than take away from the paleness of the skin.
Digital_bobert – Aw, thanks :] I'm afraid you'll have to wait for the book regarding the story behind the bottle ;] It's a sweet but sad little fairytale.
Slickgreekgeo – Thank you :] I really didn't intend realism with this one... it happens when I work a LONG time on a piece (the way I did with this one). I work over the brush strokes and lose the painterly feel. It wasn't a conscious choice, and unless I have this big problems with a painting again – I doubt I'll return to this type of look.
Alexfalchi – Haha, yeah, I think I'm real, part-real anyway :D I might be half goblin or something though, does that count? I'm glad you like the piece: thank you.
Kbarts – Thank you <3
Chiaotzu – Thanks :]
Tobiasth – Thankee :D
CarpeNoctem – Yikes, the Frodo-thing never even occurred to me. Arghg! You're totally right, how frustrating! Haha... well, it's NOT Frodo anyway. I'm happy you like the picture, even if you've twisted my head around: I can only see Frodo now. Ack.
Kohina – Thankeeee... but man, now I can only see Frodo too.
Chango – Thanks :] And yeah, I had a splendid time in Rome. Wonderful city and amazing people as far as I'm concerned. Big <3 to everyone I met while I was there. ('cept for that creepy guy on the bus, ew!)
Xric7 – Aw, thank you!
Elsie – Thank you sweetie :] I did indeed keep the shape of the J'adore bottle, I just couldn't help it: I tried to paint the bottle differently but this was how I had imagined it, so I kept coming back to this shape.
Urgaffel – hey there :D And thank you kindly.

I have a quick question! In one of the detail pics you said it was full size. Did you mean that that was the size you painted the picture at? Cause the details on the bottle are so amazingly small for that size. It's just wonderful.
I can only dream of some day being as great a painter as you.
P.S. How come you can't have chocolate?! That's like a crime! :p
Enayla
02-22-2006, 04:34 PM
Stephanie - yeah, that's the size I painted the piece in. For some details though, I sometimes paint bigger, then resize and paste into the picture. This often goes for stuff like the design on the bottle, lace and details on clothes or jewellery :) In this case, I think some of it was painted bigger and the pasted in - I don't remember. Some is texture overlay I painted in another document. I use so many techniques, I can hardly keep them apart :(
And chocolate is baaad for diets, hehe.

02-22-2006, 04:54 PM
Incredible, Linda. And so different! I don't think I've ever seen you paint a picture quite like this before--I think it's the compositon. His face and hands are perfect...you really outdid yourself with the skin textures. I only wish the full picture were larger. ;p No crits from me. I think you nailed what you were trying to do, emotionally.
So does this mean the Furiae book is finally done, or do you still have some stories left to write? =D (How are you doing, by the way? I haven't talked to you in ages!)

*faints* I have been waiting patiently :D for another piece from you. I think with every new piece you post I become more excited about seeing the next one.
I adore how the skin 'glows', wonderful lighting. The colours are beautiful, they compliment each other so well. I adore the details on the bottle! I find painting jewelery and clothing the hardest part, I can never get the textures right.
Once again Linda, you never fail to amaze me, stunning painting wonderful composition!
Congrat's on the poster book :)

I don't post much, but I have enjoyed your work for some time and find it divine. The skill demonstrated in this particular work is astounding. Initially it took me a minute to appreciate it as a painting, because I was so enthralled with the imagery itself. But as I began to consider it for its more painterly qualities I am beside myself. The fact that someone has such exceptional skill is inspiring and breathtaking to behold. I love the way you use detail to add bits of backstory, focus and emotional undercurrent to your images. Although all of your works seem so devinely driven by the magical use of color and light, this one positively radiates. Every time I check CGTalk I hope that I am lucky enough to find one of your paintings. I feel especially luck today. Thank you for sharing with us.

Woo!
A new one from you.....and yes, it does resemble you. A lot. :D I find a lot of peoples' work resembles themselves, particularly good artists as they tend to practice a lot more and use themselves as ref.
Gotta say I love luminosity of the hands and the gold of the bottle. Another beautiful work from you! De basta klapparna kommer inte i lador, hm? :D

Oh.. Linda, Linda, Linda... Will you ever stop amazing us?
You have such a way with colors.. To blend colds and warms to enhance the expression you are going for, gotta love it. I really like the way the character, in his unconsciousness, is holding almost dearly the bottle but yet loosely.. Like he was trying his best not to let it go.
Lovely, lovely work.. I dig the dried leaves bed he is laying on.. Vibrant in colors but dry and.. -dead-. A little symbolism in there i think? And the bottle, so much detailing.. and the soft sparkling golden color just adds to the overall piece. :3
(Edited out, i saw that you ALREADY went to Rome.. Silly me for not reading the whole thread before replying.. :P )
Oh and i can,t wait for the book.. I'm so excited just thinking about it, like a kid about to enter a candy store.

I must admit that this is my favourite piece of yours, from what I saw of your previous. Maybe because it focuses more on the simple emotive touch, than on the complexity and detail. It's difficult to explain. I'd said it's like when you explore all the world without exploring the garden behind your house, I feel you're taking a look to the garden now.
Everything is focused at the right point, with no need of enrichment, except on that right point, true emotion (and I'm conscious of the fact that all that absence of highlighted detail around the character, but also rich of detail on the other side, is a true master achievement).
Technically I adore your skintones, and that one is no exception, expecially near the eyes.
You pay honour to the female artists that wasn't recognised for so many centuries :)

Lin,
Just dropping by to pay my respects. No point trying to find anything to be corrected as usual and I agree, it does resemble you. What surprises me the most though, is how much your work improves, still grows into it's own style as if it was meant to evolve this way, from the first paintings I saw of you. I honestly didn't think the technique could possibly get better after your last Hajieelkhe; still, the way you captured the light playing on the skin is simply astounding. Honestly, in my opinion, the most beautiful skin I've ever seen on a painting. I'm again so immensely moved by the flow of emotions coming from this, I feel my heart nearly collapsing when I try to absorb it all. I simply love it. Massive hugs,
w
Btw I might have rotated it 90 degrees though :D

Just ordered your poster book from Ballistic too! Congrats on that btw!
Can't wait to hear more about Furiae. I'm wondering will you make it available through CGTalk or will you publish it personally? It's a sure seller!
Beautiful work on those hands! The closeup is amazing and those fingernails struck me first for some reason. Love the changes you've made to how you paint skin tones in the past few paintings!

Hej! Lovely painting. It evokes calm and sadness just like you wanted... His hands looks awesome, along with everything else but still! :p
Thanks for being so generous, making tutorials and stuff at your level is good proof of kindness since you couldnt ask for much in return... When i have something to give back ill keep in mind all that i got from artists such as yourself and share my (hopefully gained) wisdoms with others.
I feel i need to improve right now after seeing this.. Im gonna go paint some!

Wonderful image. Love your work. Question though, if I may. I am sorry if you have answered this before, so please excuse me for making you repeat yourself. I am curious as to what size you work in (on average). 36"x60" @ 300dpi maybe? I am also curious as to how long you have been painting/digitally painting.
Thank you so much.

hah - ruhroh - I am just going to add to all the fanmails ;)
another wonderful piece with the typical Linda-touch-style.
I know this sounds kind of snobby but I am quite happy that even though it seems a lot of people try to copy your style it always stays untouchable with the very own Linda-feel to it.
I guess it's the way you understand and use colors that nobody really could copy even though they study your pieces and technique to death.
In the end it's not the technique that actually makes a painting unique and recognizable- or at least not only.
For a little time I was actually afraid that you came so close to photorealism that I don't see the point of a painting anymore..but yet every one of your last pieces had something that you wouldn't be able to find or see in a picture. Yet again, the colors I assume and the way you use them.
I really really envy your understanding of them :)
Besides the colors I am amazed how realistic you can paint little details like the bottles ornaments. Well placed strokes which just create the perfect illusion of realism.
Thanks for the closeup too - I find it extremely interesting to see your brushstrokes and how you paint hands :D

Greetings
Yet another amazing piece of art from you Linda, truly fantastic. If its any consolation I thought more about Romeo (as in Romeo & Juliet) than Frodo when I saw this, even though it might seem far fetched. Shame that the image in the post is so small, I would really like to see more of those leaves and how they contrast/blend with the man (I like autumn leaves, even though I am not 100% sure they actually are in the image, perhaps I need a pair of glases ;-). Also a big congratz to the ballistic masters poster book.
With regards

Annnd another great one :D
Now I really want to know the story behind it! what was the book release date again? (I know you haven't mentioned it, but we can pretend :P)
The first thing I noticed was the shape of the picture - a very uncommon one. I love that. I think you once mentioned that you never let the current canvas size control your pictures because, hey, you can always resize it. This one definitely shows that. Just awesome :)
Love the emotion in the character... he/she looks a tad bit like you and just a liiiiittle bit like Frodo (as someone above mentioned it). Quite interesting, if you ask me ^_^
The colours remind me a lot of Autumn Whisperlings, but only more dark and mature... it's crazy (in a good way).
Just can't wait for the book :D

This is just simply beautiful. I love his face; it's so pleasant to look at and beautiful, but really sad too. Even though you stated in your description that he was not alive, even without saying it's the kind of feeling that you get when you see his face. I also like the way he is holding the bottle, like it was something really important. Maybe he died to keep it...maybe if belongs to someone special and it's a momento, there are so many things to wonder about. I'm sorry for speculating since you haven't stated what the story is behind it; the image just makes me want to think about all sorts of things like that. I just think it's really powerful and lovely.
I also agree with Kyena. Your images are so realistic yet there is always something that just makes it more interesting than life. I dunno if it's the design of the characters, the vivid colors or what, but there is always a sort of dream-like quality to your images.
^_^ I'm rambling now. Sorry.

Seifo_Sid - Hi :) I can't teach anyone to paint skin, unfortunately, but I'll leave you with a few tiny notes. The first is - layer the colours. Try to put them down with one more saturated tone underneath, and then painting on top of it. That will help giving a certain 'glow' and transparency to the skin, giving the impression of colours showing through a thin surface. Painting just one flat colour will produce a flat result. It's so easy to trick oneself into simplifying colours on the computer for the reason that it is SO simple to produce nifty ones - but often, I find that simple layering of different colours (like a warm red underneath and a beige slowly brushed on top of it) will give an amazing effect of softly luminous skin… whereas picking the resulting colour (regular flesh-toned) and just painting it in will give a flat and lifeless look.
Furthermore, be brave. Skin is never the colour you expect it to be. I try to experiment and find new skin tones for every image. I used to be shy with skin colours and often stuck to the ones you'd think you'd find in a painting, thinking that there is such a thing as 'skin-toned' in a picture. Yes, skin does have a colour, if I look at my hand it's a particular tone - but in a painting, MY skin could be depicted in a myriad different tones, ranging from soft blue to bright orange, depending on the setting. To use an example:
http://www.furiae.com/images/skintonevariations.jpg
The top colours are the general skintones from this painting. The bottom ones are some colours I used in Spoiled's skin. In the end, it's just a matter of practicing until you get a feel for it :) Good luck!
Sir_Manfred - Thank you :]
Zog - Aw, thank you. Christian Bale, eh? :D I can't see it, but I'm glad you think so. He has an exquisite face.
Lauren - hiiii :D Lovely to see you again… and I'm glad you like the piece. The pictures for the book are done, the stories aren't yet though. Hehe. I'm doing fine… I had a lovely trip to Rome recently, but my personal life is a bit hectic. I'll try to send you a letter soon - I miss talking to you.
Jose - thank you, and thank you :D you're such a doll!
Waheednasir - Thank you :}
BigMacAttack - Thanks :] I tried to make the hands gentle and soft, rather than angular and hard. There's a lot of emotion that can be expressed in a pair of hands.
LATROMMI_SUINEG - thank you!
Enialadam - Haha, thank you :D I'm glad I can stir you a bit. And yea, jewellery is HARD. I rarely paint it because there's so much to deal with and I've only recently tried to figure out how metal works (skin, I know - other materials… more difficult). I'm happy you like the result :D

Crisp - Thank you kindly :) Truly warming words.
Ericyeo - Thank you :] I think this particular piece is, um, maybe 5000x2000 pixels big, I can't check since I'm not at the computer where I created it. I generally try to work in resolutions that are over 4000 pixels in either direction. It really helps for detailing.
Tomas slobodnik - haha, noo, but I wish there was one! Man would it make life easy :D I'm glad you like :]
dEo - Thanks <3
MichaelMotion - Aw, thank you!
Prophecy313 - thankee!
Kaspaas - hehe, thank you! I'll just imagine your swearing, then ;)
Theresa - See? Some people think it looks exactly like me and some don't see the likeness at all. It's so strange o.O I do tend to paint myself into a lot of things though. It's very frustrating, I try so hard not to but the characters tend to end up with at least some features of mine D: Hee, thank you!
Lilie - Thank you so much :] I'm so overjoyed that the feeling of the piece is actually there, as I was worrying I'd overworked it and lost track of what I was aiming for.
Bao - haha, you need to take pictures of yourself bouncing :D Nah, just kidding - thank you very much though.
De Gerardo - thank you <3
Mindofka - Thank you. You can't know how excited that makes me to hear. I was worrying I had somehow managed the opposite, but it seems like I might have succeeded in what I was looking for. Thank you.
Wim - Why, thank you, darling <3
Elaeria - Thank you :] I hope you'll like the poster book: I'm very excited about it. The Furiae book will be published through Ballistic, so you'll be able to get your hands on it quite easily ;]
3dcook - thank you!
FrozZt - Aw, you are too kind :] (och alltid roligt att träffa andra svenskar här. Tack igen!)
Mahlikus - Hi there :] I don't mind, I've responded before and I'm sure I'll repeat it again. I generally work in a size that ranges from 4000x4000 pixels up to 10000x8000, depending on what the project is and what it's meant for. Ever since I received my BOXX computer (sometimes, I want to stay days just hugging it, I swear!) I've found that I'm not at all restrained in what size I want to work with, so I just pick whatever feels best. Working TOO big tends to make me insane though, as I get into the details a bit too much.
Gonzalo Golpe - thank you :]
Gaianix - Thanks! :]
Kyena - wow, thanks :] I know that this piece, and some others, thumb the line of being too realistic. I think it's something that happens, quite unintentionally I assure you, when I get too involved in a piece - I work too hard, for too long, and end up perfecting too many of the details. Sometimes I consciously move away from it, but I had to just let it go on this piece, let it be what it wanted to be. I find that restraining myself sometimes just messes things up, you know? One day, I'll be skilled enough to know when to stop, but I think that point is still far away ;)
DreamQuest - Yay, Romeo! That is more what I was looking for. Romeo, so tragic and wonderful. I am happy that you saw what I was looking for - very glad, in fact. Thankee on many levels!
BlinCk - Thank you!
D-NA - Hehe, glad you like it <3 Glad you mentioned the canvas size. I have to admit that throughout this painting, I kept flipping it. Sometimes, it was a portrait piece (turned with the face up), sometimes it was turned upside down. Sometimes, the character was resting down, looking upwards and sometimes it was flipped the way you see here. In the end, I had to sit down and make a choice, and I felt that this best represented what I was looking for. The fact that I can do this is one of the reasons to why I like working on the computer so much. These decisions you can make 'after the fact', as it were… looking at a piece from oh so many angles before finding the one that suits you best. Thank you :]
SirNeo - Thank you! :]

LadyAkuma - Heeee… yes, that bottle is interesting, isn't it? Good golly, I'm so happy that some notice the position of his hands, and the bottle, I spent so much time trying to portray feeling in the way he cradles that thing :D I guess my hard work wasn't entirely wasteful, yay!
Samanthie - Thankee!

Rblitz7 - hehe, thanks!
Michael Chang - Thank you very much :]
Cyborgguineapig - thanks! :)
Badsight - Oj, sure - I don't have one at work now though. What are you looking for, 1200x1600? I can't really release anything bigger, as it'll start being print sized after that :D
Augustus - haha, aww, give me the wacom? :D Mine is starting to fall apart.
C cco - Thank you.
Gmax - aw, hush you. I don't want to be responsible for creating any gollums :D
Liangcee - thankee! :]
Seccad - haha, lots of stars :D thank you, I'll make a blanket out of them and curl up and sleep. Sweet, sweet sleep!
Warpyy - thank you :] Admittedly, I worked part in painter for this one though ;]
Jacob L. - haha, thank you - but be glad I don't :D If I did, the world would be all Burtonesque with big black cats invading everyone's homes. Perhaps not an ideal planet.
Phew! That was it! If I didn't respond to someone, it was because I missed it - not intentionally. It was just SO many replies to keep track on. Again, THANK YOU everyone for your kind and thoughtful words.

Linda, I was just wondering which program you used for creating those skin 'pores'? Was it a combo of both? I also like the fact that you made the figure 'sexless' if you will, as it can be either a man or a woman, very cleverly done (if that's what you were going for).
Additionally, I'd really like to thank you for the tutorials you have online at your website. I'm working on a piece right now, and I applied the 'skin tutorial' to it, and it made a huge difference; I learned a whole lot about colors, making them pop out and such, and that wouldn't be possible w/o reading that tutorial. So thank you for that.
Great work, take good care.
Edit: Why haven't you received a CG award for this? Unacceptable I tells ya!

I've been looking at your work a while ago .. and each time I stood there amazed by your poses and the way you draw the human nature with its hidden and undeclared desires, thoughts and many feelings .. believe me it talks by it self .. and I give you a lot of credits for your clean execution .. but definitely not stylish one .. it's very nice but a machine work .. and I wish to see your ideas executed differently by you. :)

Hey Linda!
You know you do delicate beauty so damn well! :)
I saw this pic yesterday, but I tend to feel a bit lost commenting on your work - the pages fill up so fast!
I think it made me laugh - it's like every time you post a new piece you raise the bar just that little bit higher. It's quite humbling and makes me want to work that little bit harder! I hope one day people will look at my work and feel that same sense of awe.
Hmm... looks like I'm going to have to shell out for a new book! I'm sure it will be a masterpiece - you've been working on it long enough! Ballistic must be rubbing their grubby hands in anticipation...

you know something i am surprised for the worse, this piece has quality splattered on it from top to bottom. its definitely one of the best pieces seen around here. it saddens me to see that some people choose to give it such low scores that the star ratio is 4 and not above it.
the piece speaks for itself though and i am sure there are some good people around here that will push this star ratio upwards !

This is a beautiful image. The shape, skintones, hands and technical ability really show in this piece. It is techincally perfect no doubt, but its the other stuff that make it really special. What makes this a piece of art is that you really convey the sadness and melancholy so well. I feel that the character is either dead.. or is slowly dying of a broken heart, he has lost his will to live and holds in his hands his most precious treasure. I feel like he is only a breath away from death because to me he still has some life in him, to be able to convey the emotion of loss and absolute sadness. Incredible. 5 stars.
Linda, you're making everybody else's work look like dog poop... as always! The aesthetic of this one really blows me away! SO... when's Furiae coming out?

Beautiful! Just beautiful. It makes me want to pluck my fingers out of their sockets and fill the empty, bloodied stumps with paintbrushes and pencils so that I have no choice but to practice drawing and painting in the vain attempt to get get anywhere close to your immense talent... I agree with lots of the others that this is one of your best pieces.
I also think that Azreal didn't really cut your hand all that time ago - I think you used that as a cover story to hide the fact that, somewhere in a Swedish laboratory, you had Michalangelo's re-animated hand grafted on to your arm hence giving you this extraordinary gift... Am I right?

Beautiful work as always Linda. I live the skin tones. I wanted to say also that I went to the VISUAL AMALGAM show last weekend here in Dowtown LA. One of the main reasons I went was to see your pieces on the canvas. They looked really good. I was disappointed there were only a couple pieces though as they were definitely some of the best work in the gallery. THey should've given you a whole wall of huge canvases like Meats Meier.

Your lighting technique is superb. Like allways. And if I tried some tones with the colorpicker I bet I would not belive what is possible to achive with good color / contrast compositing.
Also I love that you always have a story behind the picture, an idea, a character or vision. This one is no exception: it speaks for itself. You can't look at a Bergkvist without getting into a world of it's own.
Sweet fan kisses from Milho! And pass em to Azrael as well

This letter doth make good the friar's words,
Their course of love, the tidings of her death:
And here he writes that he did buy a poison
Of a poor 'pothecary, and therewithal
Came to this vault to die, and lie with Juliet.--
Where be these enemies?--Capulet,--Montague,--
See what a scourge is laid upon your hate,
That heaven finds means to kill your joys with love!
And I, for winking at your discords too,
Have lost a brace of kinsmen:--all are punish'd.

hello beautiful....
I know I know long time. Well, it seems that you have reconstructed your painting style emotionally, before you seemed to achieve technical pefection with insane complexity; however, now you have become more incredibly more attuned to the audience and how to translate to many eye levels. I love the piece, It's more serious even than the human-nature battle. I admire your patience, afterall technical perfection is what behind the greatest of classical paintings. Thank you for being dedicating and hard working, such only inspire for better.

What, do u think is influencing the shift in ur color palette, or is it just happening off the fly. Me I still have problems with color, I want to be able to control what I do, especially with color! Should I just let the painting work itself out or do I just continue to try to control what I do?

Excellent as always. The variation of colors in the skin tone really makes the piece. I kinda wish it had a different cropping though--that seems to be the case whenever I comment on your new pieces. Maybe my eye for spacing is just a bit different.

Nay! can I sleep or rest... in spite of eyes feeling the weight of a thousand blinks...
I shun the warm bed that awaits my living corpse this hour...
Truly... the pursuit of writing even a semi-coherent post at such a time in the morning, is bordering on the ridiculous... Yet here I am...
Happy... That with Ms.B, all you can really ever say is...
Woww... What an amazing woman... What a gem!

Seeing a new work by you instantly makes my day, and this is absolutely stunning - as always. It feels a little different from your other paintings - this one has a very classic, ancient master's feel to it. I think someone else mentioned it was poetic and it really is. You can feel the sadness.
The skintones are amazing - you just get better and better. The hands look just like porcelain - love the soft blues - and I'm really drawn to the fingernails for some reason!

Nothing else to say about this piece. People has said everything.
There is only one thing which amazes me more than the quality of your last works: the fast process of your maturity as an artist. Since you are really young, I wonder how will your works be in 15-20 years... and I shudder to think about it.

Hiya Linda,
Very nice execution on this one....I like everything about it. There is sophistication in the composition and rendering technique. I particularly enjoy the way the value and color composition tightens up as you lead the eye toward the focal point. Color choice is quite exquisite and they are colors I'm favoring in my work currently as well. Really impressive work that has cross market appeal with a poetic sensitivity that is uniquely yours. Your on a roll now...

But I just had to leave my mark to let you know that yet again you have proven to push the limits and reach that soft spot with your finess and sensibility. This piece can be positioned at a fine art museum.
Technically is brilliant, as all your work.
However, this time emotion reaches the senses beyond your previous pieces.
Really subtle and elegant, no exageration, very exquisite.
Someday I want to be able to attain that
Congratulations for another fine art piece! :)

Beautiful work. I feel there is very strong emotion behind it. Life can throw some difficult and painful things at us at times. This piece has the strong emotions that these events create but in a calm, peaceful way.

I also think that Azreal didn't really cut your hand all that time ago - I think you used that as a cover story to hide the fact that, somewhere in a Swedish laboratory, you had Michalangelo's re-animated hand grafted on to your arm hence giving you this extraordinary gift... Am I right?
:applause: :applause:
Oh, no, Linda's style is much more delicate than his ever was, painting or sculpture (remember the masks, they count).
Seeing this new piece of yours reminds me of a trip to the J. P. Getty museum, where I'd walked through this gallery of beautiful pieces and turned a corner to find, glowing on the wall in front of me, da Vinci's Titus. Don't cringe, Linda. This piece glows, too, with all the love and care you put into it! I, too, thought first of Romeo, and then of some lost plaything of whom Titania might have grown tired. I am delighted by each new turning your work takes because you never let complacency take hold.
Thank you for the updated information on Furiae. Oooh, I do so plan on owning a copy.

Wow, Legend, very inspiring stuff, must..... buy...... print...... now, lol, hope this is the CGS store, better check now, awe inspiring stuff anyway, well done Linda. :applause:
Very nice picture, great attention to detail apart from the one major factor that is the critical element in this picture. The figure is supposed to be dead (if I am reading the title and the notes correctly) yet there is a significant amout of red in the skin tones.
Having unfortunately been face to face with a dead body, it is the lack of red that really brought home the complete lack of life. The lips, the cheeks, the area above the eyes all show tints of red in the skin tone which gives the impression that the figure is sleeping rather than dead.
Of course, if the figure had just died, then the skin tones would be more understandable and my observations would be pointless. I think that perhaps the apparent relaxed pose also makes you think the figure is simply asleep. The left arm seems propped as opposed to slumped, when the blood goes, your muscles stop working and limbs fall limp.
Again, the image is stunning, it just doesn't convey to me what the title implies, sorry.

Having unfortunately been face to face with a dead body...
Whoa! LeeC! Forgive me asking but in what way have you been in contact with a dead body?
Should we be scared of you...?
TOLEDO
03-01-2006, 01:22 AM
LeeC have a point there, I was blind by the beauty of the image and I didn't repair on that.
Been even near of a dead body could be very impressive, if you see how happend could be traumatic (sound logic though).
The point is, and I don't wanna be nasty, when the decease is violent, the fluids inside the body takes several minutes to get coagulated, and that's the reason of the final green-purple tone at the end. Diferent case is when the person died slowly (e.i. cancer) because they start to "losing" the color in the process, and they finish in that grey-blue skin tone.
That's the reason cuz I feel that the guy in the paint is in some kind of magical dream, and also it's the reason cuz I don't like horror movies... so damn fake.

Great piece Linda. I think what I like the most is way you have achieved the translucency of the skin, it adds great realism. Mostly on the back side of the hand where you get very subtle hits of veins. Also the tonal accents on the hand joints. 15,000 stars. Always a joy to watch your work.

Ya, 17 straight pages of positive comments doesn't really leave much left to be said. you just seem to find new barriers to push through. Your mixture of techniques i think is the key to your improvement. My art has reach a blip, for lack of a better word. My technique is one brush and thats it. You've inspired me to push the limits somewhat further ^^. Well have a great day (really belated).
Take care, linda

Great works here from you like always. They are a combination of a classic stlye and photorealistic and kinda miniature .One can see a variety of colors in your works and it shows that your eye has the ability of seeing everything.I think you can discriminate 2 colors next to eachother in 16 millions.
About this work I was hoping to see more of it .This is like a detail of an artwork. You had focused less on the arm compared to the work you have done on the hand and fingers.
Anyways, this doesn't lessen the value of your work.
Hope to see other awsome stuff from you.

Oh my... this is really beautiful... speechless... the skin tone is just too well done, congrats again on your next breakthru, I just kept looking back & forth on the painting, just too fabulously painted. The mild wet touch on the nose is just too fantastic... great touch on that part... really loved the cool atmosphere created....
Personally feels your work is resembling more & more to those great paintings by Master William Bouguereau. Absolutely 5 starz from me.
