View Full Version : Phytools nonsense
ThePriest 02-22-2006, 04:45 AM I was considering purchasing PhyTools, but at this point I'm almost firmly against it.
when working with the sample file PhyTools098Examples\FlexExamples1\SplineCable_2
from the
http://www.remotion4d.net/download/download.php?file=PhyTools098Examples_211205.zip
You can create the 'Flex Simulator' setup in exactly the same way as displayed in the sample. Remove the old one and it basically fails to work.
And as for setting up a scene yourself with splines that move dynamically, I'm having zero luck.
Can anybody shed some light on this for me?

ahhhh,
dont give up just yet. Often, things like this, XPRESSO and Real Flow sims often "dont work" no matter how many times you follow EXACTLY the given firmula. Its just a little check-box somewhere, somehow thats not turned on :)

Make sure you check all of the object properties in the flex simulator - drag all the objects to be included into the "objects" box. And hit the "start simulation" button. I always find my self missing some small detail like that.

At least give Flingster, Gunter and Remo a chance to help out. They love to.
Go the their forum here: http://remotion.de.vu/
I second what was said before. I have both PhyTools and RF3 (and have heard a lot about Maxon's Dynamics module). These things are very tricky and picky. Plus, since the objects are meant to react with other things in the scene, they don't always react exactly the same every time you run a sim.

stu...nonsense!:bounce:
please upload your file you're having problems with and we'll check it out. Without seeing what you're doing or may have missed its a bit hard to comment. "If" it is a bug then we'll look into it and fix it...but we need to see whats happening here.
things to check...make sure you have your points selected on your spline...and create that selection as the selection tag which then needs to be dragged into fixed vertex dialog on the Flex Spline also attached to the spline....your spline also has to be editable.
on Flex Master object...make sure you have clicked on clear cache
and your spline and cylinder are dragged in the objects box.
dunno what the problem is...also when you post reply..please let me know what version of c4d you're using, what O/S, and what version of phystools you're using...and whether there are any messages in the console.
hope this helps and we can get it working for you...you're also more than welcome to post on the ditools forums all questions you may have...the temp domain address is as follows:
